November 19, 2024 at 3:40 pm #300218 DaveParticipant Unfortunately Kryten’s spare parts are also on display in DNA* thus invalidating the two-episode limit. [*Get your mind out of the gutter, I mean his spare heads and hand, not his double-polaroid.] Plus it’s not what I was thinking of. November 19, 2024 at 4:22 pm #300221 Flap JackParticipant OK, but to be clear the connection I was suggesting was specifically unexpected spare parts from building or repairing something. Obviously I hadn’t forgotten about Kryten’s spare heads and appendages, which are spare by design. November 19, 2024 at 4:32 pm #300222 DaveParticipant Fair enough. I was just trying to find a less boring way of saying “not what I was thinking of”. November 19, 2024 at 6:42 pm #300228 cwickhamParticipant The connection is something that isn’t in the episodes themselves. Well hang my head in shame and shoot me out in a garbage pod. I was thinking of Out of Time not Gunmen, in case my ridiculous mistake wasn’t clear. *Infinite facepalming* November 20, 2024 at 5:37 am #300245 TechnopeasantParticipant That’s a lot of usage of the word ‘cliffhangers’. Cliffhanger cliffhanger cliffhanger. I was thinking of Out of Time not Gunmen, in case my ridiculous mistake wasn’t clear. Should have been obvious given that Gunmen is the episode that actually got a direct continuation. On that topic, Waiting for God and Stoke Me a Clipper. Looks like Imogen Bain (Lola the barmaid) was in The Sarah Jane Adventures. And Stephen “Bear-Strangler McGee” Marcus has been bloody prolific over the years generally. Yes! Both episodes imply that hard-light isn’t necessarily his default setting, and that it requires more power. Later in The Promised Land, he goes black-and-white and mono but remains rock hard. Yes! Both episodes imply that hard-light isn’t necessarily his default setting, and that it requires more power. Later in The Promised Land, he goes black-and-white and mono but remains rock hard. Not that this changes the answer, but it’s kinda interesting this only came about because they had Rimmer in the wrong jacket at the start of Gunmen so threw in a line about powering up his hard light drive so he could go into VR Kinda cool they later pick up on it in a different episode. And not just the example from Rimmer world you gave, but also later on he says there’s solar power on the escape pod so his hard light would remain powered for as long as needed. Re hard light being the default in later episodes, maybe they found tech on the ship they find the time drive on that gives him near infinite power.
