July 27, 2010 at 9:32 am in reply to: The Russian first officer in “Holoship” used to lecture at my university #110316 Fluffy WokParticipant That’s pretty awesome. Who’d have thought she needed another job after the sterling work she did in that episode. She was the lady Chekov, she should have said “nuclear wessels” and she would have been a cert. “Kaptin, you must find con-jew-gay-ting this Lai-tin phrase a chalinj” (can’t write atrocious fake russian accent phonetically but you get the idea) July 22, 2010 at 10:19 am in reply to: Some women are such total Gannons! #110267 Fluffy WokParticipant hehe, your mum July 22, 2010 at 10:19 am in reply to: Jara Cimrman and the Red Dwarf #110266 Fluffy WokParticipant Oh yes, at home I often get that feeling that someone has just turned over two pages at once. But as a man it’s all part of the fun. I wonder if I should start a group for “Talking like you’ve had a stroke”. I did make a random group on Facebook, “Pirates? Dirty, Starving, Sea Bums. Highwaymen, the Gentlemen Brigands” which now has 69 members, some of which have posted up loads of pictures of them dressed in big leather coats, facemasks and weilding matchlock pistols. The other group I started Who related was “Rose Tyler is evil and represents all that is wrong with EVERYTHING” but that only has 7 members. I’ve never worked out why this is so, a rival group “Rose Tyler Sucks” has 45 members but I’m not sure if these are just men with no taste in women who are being optimistic. Conversely “Rose Tyler” as a public figure has 5000+ likes so who the hell am I to judge… July 20, 2010 at 2:31 pm in reply to: Some women are such total Gannons! #110230 Fluffy WokParticipant And hands off monkeyboy July 20, 2010 at 2:28 pm in reply to: Some women are such total Gannons! #110229 Fluffy WokParticipant So for having a different – and admittedly ridiculous – take on fan culture, we’ve decided this one person deserves harassment and top-of-the-swear-box name-calling in a thread intended to demonise her? Who’s claiming the higher ground? This lady very clearly doesn’t like/get Red Dwarf. We don’t hate her for that. I’ve read a couple of the other bits of the blog and she moans about her fanboy liking comics (DC stuff, the Flash and Supes mainly, letting you know he is a yank) but it doesn’t get the same ire as Dwarf. I see this thread of more of a general lament that she can hate Red Dwarf enough that she can’t listen to a conversation about it second hand. That and a general misguided stab at the geek phenomena as a whole. Swearing isn’t hate, its just extra vocabulary July 20, 2010 at 9:00 am in reply to: Sonic the Hedgehog is a fat bastard #110220 Fluffy WokParticipant Did he sing it like they did in the old school games? That would be awesome If you see it now, (I know it more from the start of the Total War stuff they own now) its some guy with a voice so deep he’s choking on his own lung cancer. If he said it like that it would be scary July 20, 2010 at 8:55 am in reply to: G&T meet? #110219 Fluffy WokParticipant Borough Market FTW! (W is for Wensleydale, Neals Yard is round the corner…) July 20, 2010 at 8:53 am in reply to: Jara Cimrman and the Red Dwarf #110218 Fluffy WokParticipant It marks an interesting correlation, if I was that interested I might even be slightly inclined to add interests and see how the suggestions change. Alternatively I I can just sit back and let my prejudices run riot: Willow Rosenburg: Many who like Talking Like You’ve Had a Stroke like this Star Wars – The Phantom Menace: Many who like Their Dreams being Crushed like this Twilight: Many who like Menstruating like this and so on July 20, 2010 at 8:42 am in reply to: Chris Barrie is a honorary doctor #110217 Fluffy WokParticipant hehe, boinked July 16, 2010 at 10:14 am in reply to: G&T meet? #110169 Fluffy WokParticipant Oh good, Futurama quotes. And there was me thinking you were flirting with the internet again… July 13, 2010 at 8:23 am in reply to: G&T meet? #110157 Fluffy WokParticipant Oooo, how about Hawaii, we can catch some surf. Yeah, Sunday afternoon/evening is possible, as what the missus said (except replace “sister in law” with “sister”) July 12, 2010 at 9:40 am in reply to: Futurama! 26 New Episodes! Not Movies! Resurrected! #110151 Fluffy WokParticipant Robot Preacher: Can I get an Amen?! Robot Transvestite: I’d take a three men. Holler! June 28, 2010 at 10:52 am in reply to: Doctor Who – Series 5 – Broadcast Discussion (NO SPOILERS) #110048 Fluffy WokParticipant Disappointing stuff. This series really has been a bit of a lightweight and in my opinion the first series of the new run not to have a great episode. A lot of very good ones but nothing really special. Were we watching the same stuff? I loved about 95% of that. As a finale it had a lot going for it, the potentially confusing time travel was handled well and it answered some bits well while leaving enough questions to suitably intrigue and irritate. The married couple travelling with the Doctor is an interesting dynamic to explore and I look forward to the exploration of River Song’s background. Matt Smith has totally captured the character of the Doctor as the irrerevant, dark , damaged, mind-game playing old man that is desperate to survive. The boy can act like he’s fifty years older than he is and its a joy to watch. Having said that it is quite amusing to see how the Doctor seems to be extermination proof. I suppose its the whole thing that he can’t be killed the same way twice, Tennant survived a several hundred foot fall through glass which would have killed Baker, Tennant had already been exterminated so it just mostly killed Smith. May 5, 2010 at 10:58 pm in reply to: Doctor Who – Series 5 – Broadcast Discussion (NO SPOILERS) #109669 Fluffy WokParticipant > Doesn’t it also remind you of the rip in time and space in the episode Ouroboros? Nah, that was more dirty yellowy and sparkly glowy. And cheaper looking. Don’t get me started on ‘non-space’ April 5, 2010 at 10:57 pm in reply to: Call of Duty World at War Nazi Zombies anyone? #109269 Fluffy WokParticipant Got WAW but on PS3. Not a massive fan of Nazi zombies, I have a weird thing about the moral dilema with killing zonmbies. For some reason I’m fine with shooting non zombie Nazis and Imperial Japanese but anyhooo…. T-Shirts #108413 Fluffy WokParticipant Lots on the “Vader kills Dumbledore [spoilers]” theme. “Harry marries Ron [spoilers]” for example. For alternate personality “Scientist caught in nuclear explosion” in Hulk green or Doc Manhatten blue (maybe thats more origins….)”Doctor with a limp” in Thor blue/yellow but then that could just be House. “Teenage photographer” in Spiderman Red or will that just be an excuse to have your camera confiscated by the police. Its harder than it looks January 23, 2010 at 10:33 am in reply to: Nooob! #108412 Fluffy WokParticipant I suppose that could be true, he was fucking loving it. January 19, 2010 at 9:00 pm in reply to: Nooob! #108299 Fluffy WokParticipant Cheers guys. You know, I think the G and T cats should meet all up and swap notes. Blisschick’s cat, CJ and any others who are vaguely interested. Disney is a typical old lady, she mauls what she wants, eats what she wants and doesn’t give a crap about where she sleeps: in the middle of the floor, on top of my work, on my printer, anywhere. She went blind last year and its just made her noisier and more friendly with absolutely anyone who comes into the house. Plumbers, Meter people, anyone. I know she doesn’t get it from me… January 19, 2010 at 7:15 am in reply to: Nooob! #108281 Fluffy WokParticipant Standards? You guys had standards?
