I accept that I deserve that reply for my ambiguous phrasing.

Oh come on, girls want to get something out of porn movies as well.

Rimmer from the future was hard light and wore yellow.

    (Just saying.)

    > but I always just chalked it up to Lister mis-remembering the scene. The last time he saw Rimmer he was hardlight/blue, and it?s not unlikely that this is the wardrobe with which he remembers him best.

Oh, how nice! It makes sense! It makes my red dwarf universe a little wholer! Thanks.

I don’t get why taking away the cat’s cool changes him into an entirely different person anyway. Make him clumsy, ok. Change his teeth… uhm how? I suppose I just stop asking *any* questions at that point.

People falling off chairs in Back to Reality. Because the scene is totally ridiculous to start with. And then he falls off the chair ON TOP OF THAT. HAHAHAHAHA.

But if I’d watch them again now, I’d probably find loads more things just as funny (I just don’t remember them right now). Last time I watched the Smeg Outs/Ups was… well, pre-DVD.

Well, surely the worst dialogue is the notorious “straw” one (that you probably don’t know since it’s in German).

    Scene: http://users.skynet.be/osmo/uNF/blas.swf/

    Translation:

Her: “Soooo, this is the power box that is always so much trouble… so if you could have a look at it…”
Him: “That’s fine… but… why is straw lying around here?”
Her: “Hmmm… why are you wearing a mask?”
Him: “Hmm… puh… so give me head or something.”
    Her: *concurs*

No matter how many times I tell myself it is “goldfish shoals, nibbling” I still each and everytime I hear “goldfish are snivelling”… I know it doesn’t make sense… at all…

    > It has pretty much everything (comedy, romance, sci-fi, song and dance numbers, CGI that?s barely dated, endless quotability, fantastic score, amazing attention to detail, car-chases, guns?.)

    Wait… I know that movie… it’s “Sneakers”!

    >> ?Johnny Mnemonic?/?brilliant movies??

    > Oh dear, oh dear?!

Haha, I knew someone would object to that. I can’t help it, I was playing Cyberpunk at the time with my friends (and roleplaying meant so much to me then) and their cineastic education of me (followed by my coming out as a major geek) just made me the way I am today. This will always stay with me.

That’s what I meant with “being 15”. It’s not just about movie taste…

Maybe you have to be “fifteen when you first saw it” to fully appreciate it. Or something.

If I saw “Back to the Future” for the first time *today*… not sure I’d be overly impressed with it…

*I* had no interest in Star Wars until someone made *me* watch them. :x

Same with Bladerunner, Alien, The Fly, Johnny Mnemonic, The Big Lebowski, Galaxy Quest and about a million other brilliant movies…

I didn’t mean the split though (maybe shouldn’t have used the word “universe”), just the original version of the story (Lister hitting on Kochanski but not actually having been her boyfriend at any point) and later, adjusted, true to the book version.

Well, Ouroboros play in the book-based Kochanski-is-Lister’s-ex universe though.

Do I really deserve that sad face?

And yes, I’ve been thinking about it for a while now.

Of course Lister has a plan! His five year plan! Now 18 months in stasis (or him missing out on 18 months worth of wages) would make Lister’s 5 year plan a 6.5 year plan. Just because he’s BORED?

That doesn’t make much sense, does it.

The question *I* have been asking myself: who did he think would take care of Frankenstein for those 18 months? He must have had a side-kick… and… probably not C. P. Kochanski.

    > I *am* one of the people who run the Red Dwarf wiki?

Yeah, that I figured :) Did above posting come across harsh? I just wanted to state that the purpose of a talk page in *a* wiki is of course not set in stone. If the community needs a place to put their views (be it temporary) whyever not there? Just as a suggestion. *shrugs*

It’s up to the people who run the Red Dwarf wiki what’s the point of the talk pages – I mean, expressing opinions could easily be *made* the point of the talk pages. Since there’s no limit of how long a talk page can be on a wiki (are you using mediawiki?) it could have sections for both opinions on the article’s content and the article itself.

Just ban opinions to the talk pages? They wouldn’t really bother anyone there, would they, as long as they’re kept out of the actual articles?

I haven’t seen the RD wiki before, so it is only carefully that I put my hand up, you know there’s a lot of stuff about Red Dwarf that I don’t know (yet), but I volunteer to do *something*. Like, bi-daily check of edits or wiki-fying existing articles to whatever your conventions are.

I was really looking forward to watching it2i2. I wanted to grab a DVD there and then, but by the time visitor #96 (me) in the queue got to bobbyllew, it2i2 was sold out.

As for Chris Barrie, well if there was no update then I didn’t miss anything, at least. Was heading there mainly to see if there was any mention of his DJ appearance there.

Hey, if you start saving now, a DJ ticket for 2008 is only 5 quid. A month. Or you go back in time, put a fiver into a bank account and wait for interest to accumulate… how much back in time would you have to go? I’m too lazy to do the maths.

That was a fun read. I almost wish I hadn’t been able to make it to DJ and attended this instead!
