Now that embedding images isn’t a herculean task requiring a master’s degree in computer science, I figured we ought to finally have one of these on a site where such esoteric bullshit would be welcome.

I’ll start, because that’s how this sort of thread always works. Keep up.

(My lookalike font is a bolded, mildly blurred Courier New, in case anyone wants to run with this template. The minor blur helps the added text look less conspicuously sharper than the original image.)

A meme so politically explosive that it broke the thread.

But not your favorite Rimmer I am guessing?

Voting age has been 16 in Scotland for, like, a decade man. And we still have half the country voting Tory.

Which why we need a maximum voting age instead of a minimum.

So some people have been voting since they were six?!? Ridiculous

Over here, it’s been 16 for nearly two decades (Isle of Man, in case you were wondering).

My dad says this and he’s 70, but old people are people too unfortunately so it is just a little fascist to exclude a section of the population just because they tend not to agree with you. I’m not saying it wouldn’t be based.

Besides, the young men are increasingly going Tory anyway.

I’d say if the purpose was to let those mentally capable vote then you could require a civics test to do so, similar to a driver’s test, but we know how such things went in the Jim Crow South.

Which Red Dwarf “trapped in a game/games come to life” story is closest to Jumanji?

    BTL (episode)

    BTL (books)

Back to Reality (assuming the whole of Red Dwarf up until that point had actually been a game)

    Gunmen of the Apocalypse

The Knight That Escaped From The AR Unit And Killed Rimmer (supposedly)

Just watched it again (clearly) and it was still fun. Didn’t know they’d made sequels.

The first one of the Jumanji movie sequels with the Rock, Jack Black etc. is actually pretty good. Very different premise to the Robin Williams movie but it works.

Gunmen definitely. Kryten is the Alan equivalent who’s been in there too long and gone native.

Plus BTL is designed to be a challenge free environment where all your wishes are granted. Jumanji and Streets of Laredo are both designed to put you out of your comfort zone so you can have an adventure.

Gunmen also has the trope of the bad guy in the “game” being an analogue for a character in the real world. The simulant captain/Death, Alan’s dad/Van Pelt.

I think you’ll find the first “sequel” was Zathura…

Nick’s post in the Mundane Observations thread got me thinking about Simpson’s x Red Dwarf crossover memes and this popped into my head:
