I’ll start, because that’s how this sort of thread always works. Keep up. (My lookalike font is a bolded, mildly blurred Courier New, in case anyone wants to run with this template. The minor blur helps the added text look less conspicuously sharper than the original image.) July 17, 2025 at 2:45 am #308822 TechnopeasantParticipant But not your favorite Rimmer I am guessing? July 17, 2025 at 11:05 am #308830 DaveParticipant July 17, 2025 at 12:58 pm #308832 Ben SaundersParticipant Voting age has been 16 in Scotland for, like, a decade man. And we still have half the country voting Tory. July 17, 2025 at 1:26 pm #308834 Ian SymesKeymaster Which why we need a maximum voting age instead of a minimum. July 17, 2025 at 1:39 pm #308836 DaveParticipant Voting age has been 16 in Scotland for, like, a decade man. So some people have been voting since they were six?!? Ridiculous July 17, 2025 at 2:06 pm #308838 Android 72264YParticipant Over here, it’s been 16 for nearly two decades (Isle of Man, in case you were wondering). July 17, 2025 at 2:21 pm #308839 Ben SaundersParticipant Which why we need a maximum voting age instead of a minimum. My dad says this and he’s 70, but old people are people too unfortunately so it is just a little fascist to exclude a section of the population just because they tend not to agree with you. I’m not saying it wouldn’t be based. July 17, 2025 at 2:26 pm #308840 DaveParticipant I’m not saying it wouldn’t be based. Can’t wait for the next ChrisBarrieHasUpdatedHisWebsite bump. July 18, 2025 at 1:32 am #308853 HamishParticipant Besides, the young men are increasingly going Tory anyway. July 18, 2025 at 3:38 am #308857 TechnopeasantParticipant I’d say if the purpose was to let those mentally capable vote then you could require a civics test to do so, similar to a driver’s test, but we know how such things went in the Jim Crow South. BTL (episode) BTL (books) Back to Reality (assuming the whole of Red Dwarf up until that point had actually been a game) Gunmen of the Apocalypse The Knight That Escaped From The AR Unit And Killed Rimmer (supposedly) July 24, 2025 at 11:14 pm #309199 WarbodogParticipant Just watched it again (clearly) and it was still fun. Didn’t know they’d made sequels. July 24, 2025 at 11:36 pm #309202 DaveParticipant The first one of the Jumanji movie sequels with the Rock, Jack Black etc. is actually pretty good. Very different premise to the Robin Williams movie but it works. July 25, 2025 at 12:11 am #309206 Flap JackParticipant Which Red Dwarf “trapped in a game/games come to life” story is closest to Jumanji? Gunmen definitely. Kryten is the Alan equivalent who’s been in there too long and gone native. Plus BTL is designed to be a challenge free environment where all your wishes are granted. Jumanji and Streets of Laredo are both designed to put you out of your comfort zone so you can have an adventure. July 25, 2025 at 1:09 am #309209 clemParticipant Gunmen also has the trope of the bad guy in the “game” being an analogue for a character in the real world. The simulant captain/Death, Alan’s dad/Van Pelt. Very different premise to the Robin Williams movie but it works. I think you’ll find the first “sequel” was Zathura… July 27, 2025 at 10:28 pm #309319 Nick RParticipant July 28, 2025 at 10:35 am #309334 JenuallParticipant Nick’s post in the Mundane Observations thread got me thinking about Simpson’s x Red Dwarf crossover memes and this popped into my head: July 28, 2025 at 1:47 pm #309337 JenuallParticipant Most of the UK right now when online: July 28, 2025 at 2:04 pm #309341 WarbodogParticipant August 22, 2025 at 7:30 am #310230 DaveParticipant August 22, 2025 at 9:23 am #310232 Ian SymesKeymaster That’s a brilliant meme, Dave.
