  • Also question … is it made of wood? Which is looks like in that pic. Because I’d always assumed it was parts moulded from plastic in some way.

Even her one “Holly” episode in White Hole gives her far less to do than Norm’s equivalent, getting barely over half as many lines as he got in Queeg.

I think we need to let go of the idea that White Hole is a Holly episode in any way other than the character is used as a vehicle to get them into a situation.

It’s not as though it’s about Holly’s ambition to be smart again, finding and executing a way of doing so it and screwing it up.

It’s really about Lister and Kryten breaking Holly in the only act and then getting fucked without her.

I’ve never seen anyone talk about the moment in Holoship where you can see her blinking and holding back tears after watching the soppy romantic film. I’m wondering if I’m the only one who’s noticed…

    wait, Holly is in Holoship?!

It’s kinda funny how TPL kinda addressed a lot of the issues some people have with a lot of the Dave era. Too many plots, not enough time, quick endings, broad characterisation, over the top acting etc. And then people go asking for a series again which presumably would have the same issues as before.

A DESIGN FOR BETTER THAN LIFE

(IT’S NOT WAR) JUST THE END.

Studio bosses are concerned about broadcasting Meltdown at a time the nation is at war, so Doug presents a remastered version of The End where The Manic Street Preachers beam about and play a song during the interval between pre and post accident time.

in reply to: Almost XIII news #266832

I’d also disagree with a lot of that list too, and at least say Twentica and Cured deserve to be in any top 6 of those 12 episodes. So there’s no real way of saying “if Doug had only made 6 in the same time we’d have had 6 great episodes” as some might find they don’t like some of that content and we’d be missing some great stuff too.

The only episode that is a real real issue is Timewave. The rest people have niggles over how things like endings resolve and such, but at this point we’re in a phase of the show that is very much the show, this is how it is now and there’s no real way around it.

    BACK TO EBAY

The crew all hallucinate they are characters in a fake movie script being sold on eBay.

in reply to: Movie script on Ebay #266758

Presumably Doug (or anyone in this situation) could argue that it doesn’t belong to you, that it given to you in a work context and you were not allowed to distribute it outside of that. Especially if there’s any NDA signed etc. Plus, from the WorthPoint link that shows a front cover of a script, it clearly states

“this material is the property of the red dwarf films company and intended and restricted solely for the authorised personnel. distribution and disclosure of this material to unauthorised persons is prohibited. the sale, copying or reproduction of this material in any form is also prohibited”

So anyone given this scripts legitimately could well be in the shit if they were found to be selling them.

It would be akin to say, making copies of a film you downloaded to give to other people. Sure you “own” the film, but only under certain conditions of use.

    <

then that would mean he could also demand you not resell your old Red Dwarf DVDs or your copy of Last Human

The law does technically mean you can’t do this. No one goes after it because it’d be too much fucking work, (and because the market developed at a time it wasn’t possible to police – but if a copyright holder wanted to, they could file claims against the resale of goods on eBay I’m sure) and I’m sure second hand markets are good for the overall product and franchise in the long run etc.
