You are very welcome to be troubled and to fuck off accordingly.

Oh so you are okay with it then? Nice to know far-left extremism is tolerated (nay, encouraged) on here. I will happily do what you asked and fuck off.

While it’s probably a fair assumption to make that a Sonic fanatic is probably communist, suggesting she condones the Uyghur genocide makes it seem like your brain worms have been having a good old feed.

I’m not saying she does (I’m sure you’re wonderful Moonlight) but she regularly retweets someone who does deny it. The fact you are all okay with that troubles me.

in reply to: Rob has updated his Twitter likes and follows #287478

Both siding really rots your brain, it seems.

in reply to: Rob has updated his Twitter likes and follows #287474

Yes. I think we ought to know if our queen sympathises with Vladimir Putin because ‘Western capitalism bad’ or some shit. I know she’s your mate but when she retweets daily a cartoon squirrel who denies the Uyghur genocide then it’s important we have words.

in reply to: Rob has updated his Twitter likes and follows #287472

Oh good, it’s The Data Doctor and his Moonlight fixation again.

No, I just don’t like commies. Which most of you seem to be. Good day, sir.

in reply to: Rob has updated his Twitter likes and follows #287469

If we’re gonna police people’s Twitter follows (and yes, I am pro-trans and loathe Farage, KJK and all the other idiots Rob follows)… I’ve noticed you, Moonlight, like to retweet extreme left, anti-Western Twitter accounts on an almost daily basis. I’m not saying you yourself hold those views, but it does seem… problematic. You know Russia and China are extremely homophobic, don’t you? And don’t say ‘it’s the West’s fault’ as that is demonstrably false.

in reply to: Chris Barrie has updated his website #284027

Thank you. It takes a big man to say that. For my part I’m sorry for getting riled up. I get very defensive and Moonlight’s a close friend of mine. But everyone else seems happy to leave it in the past, and after tonight I think I am too.

I don’t blame you for getting very defensive, especially where your friend is concerned. I really admire how you were sticking up for her (and if you’re reading this, Moonlight, I’d like to apologise to you personally as well. I was a complete prick, especially towards you, and there is no excuse for that. I am sorry). Thank you for forgiving me.

    Bringing back C.P. (…unfortunate initials)
I’ve *just* understood what you meant.  My mind automatically just thinks Cerebral Palsy.
    But who is C.P.?

C.P. is Claire Patricia. Clare Grogan used to go by C.P. Grogan years ago. I think it was something to do with there being another Claire Grogan registered with Equity.

Somebody please talk me out of making a ‘The Data Doctor is a fucking cunt’ thread. Good god, how does such a joyless prat (who incidentally is incredibly dubious about this newfangled thing called science and thinks anything left of Rees-Mogg is filthy commie shit) ever get up in the morning?

You called? Look, I won’t deny I acted like a complete dick, because I did. I was out of order, and I apologise.

Just for the record, obviously I believe in science (can’t believe I even have to spell this out) and I have only ever voted Labour in general elections (yes, even under Corbyn).

And yes, I do get the ‘sexy details’ joke. I just don’t find it very funny – but that still in no way excuses my being as antagonistic as I was. Again, I am sorry.

in reply to: Chris Barrie has updated his website #282779

    Wankers, the lot of you.

in reply to: Chris Barrie has updated his website #282537

And so marks the point where you’ve mentioned Corbyn more than anyone else in this thread (apart from in direct reference to you mentioning him).
Our of interest, what are your reasons for celebrating?

Just that it winds all you lot up. For a forum based around a (brilliant) comedy, you people are some of the most humourless, pompous, boring wokebros I’ve ever come across. The sexy details crap is just not funny. It never was and never will be. Anyway you were the first person to mention him, Jono, when you peddled the ‘it was a scam’ crap. But enough about Corbo. You’re right, I’ve mentioned him FAR too much.

Uh oh, Craig’s hosting a UFO panel. Definitely not gross the way Chris’s rhetoric is, but ufology is easily one of the most intellectually bankrupt fields of “study” there is with absolutely zero standards for what counts as evidence and an intense resistance to any explanation that isn’t aggressively fringe.

Come on, bit of an overreaction, surely? The organisers probably asked Craig because he’s best known for starring in a really popular sci-fi show, and Craig probably agreed because it’s easy money and a bit of fun. It’s hardly Chris ranting about globalisation and woke slavery.

    You were saying, Moonlight?

in reply to: Chris Barrie has updated his website #281417

    Deleted.

in reply to: Chris Barrie has updated his website #281415

    Corbyn was fucking robbed, though.

Yeah, such a shame we didn’t elect a terrorist-loving communist with anti-Semitic sympathies. Real travesty, that. Says A LOT that he lost to Boris Fucking Johnson, perhaps the only major politician WORSE than old Corbo.

in reply to: Chris Barrie has updated his website #281357

    Except you didn’t.

Like you didn’t have to keep responding when you’d already given yourself leave to quietly exit with no further bickering? Not exactly practicing what you preach, are you?

I had left but then Queen Moonlight, Sexy Details herself responded and I felt obliged to defend myself and show her that I’m not the ogre she thinks I am.

in reply to: Chris Barrie has updated his website #281353

Careful, you don’t want to go holding any dangerous views like believing in science.

    I’m sorry, I had to.

Except you didn’t. Look, obviously I believe in science. I can’t believe I even have to spell that out. i just find the circle jerky tone of this thread a bit tiresome. But you all seem to enjoy it so
    you do you.

in reply to: Chris Barrie has updated his website #281349

You could have contested even a single specific point I made, but you chose to be vaguely judgmental and reactionary instead because it allows you to posture as superior without actually making any sort of reasoned argument. Believe it or not, people expressing their opinions about things isn’t automatically virtue signaling or whatever dumb buzzword you prefer.
Now either man up and tell me why I’m wrong about organic food being a marketing scam, or piss off. We were having fun here and you’ve done nothing but subtract additional fun from the world by responding with pointless rudeness while failing to take much of a concrete position on anything.

Katy, I have absolutely no issue with anything you’ve posted. Your posts are intelligent and well-written. I enjoy reading them and – believe it or not – I often agree with them. I don’t know anything about organic food, so I’m afraid I can’t comment there. My only problem is that this thread has gotten really boring and the endless memes about sexy details have LONG since run their course. Maybe you enjoy them. If so, more power to you.

in reply to: Chris Barrie has updated his website #281338

First of all, lighten up mate it’s only a bit of fun. No-one if forcing you to read the thread. As has been pointed out, there are many others
Secondly, you must be confusing G&T with another forum because there is very little here of anyone bashing GB News, fawning over Cobyn or patting ourselves on the back for believing in science.

Now I won’t say that none of that isn’t true. But it’s hardly as though you can’t move for all the GB News trash talk.
Frankly, if you see a thread of people worrying about and poking fun at someone’s insane views feel threatened or put off in some way then a) take an inward look at yourself and b) stop visiting and go join the Unofficial Red Dwarf Forum were absolutely batshit bonkers far rights nazism and Red Dwarf have somehow met.

First of all Quinn, please don’t patronise me. Secondly, it might surprise you to know that I actually agree with a lot of what you all say. I think Chris seems to have lost it big time and I feel very sorry for him (whilst also being appalled at the abhorrent views he has seemingly adopted). I just find the whole tone of this thread rather smug, repetitive and circlejerk-y. But you’re right. I shall leave now.
I was going to end this by saying that I think I’ll give this Unofficial Red Dwarf Forum a miss, thanks. But it seems that forum has now shut down anyway. Just as well, really, if it were anything like you described.

This ‘sexy details’ shit is not funny, it’s not clever and it’s… not funny. It reminds me of the uncool kids at school, the hangers-on, who would keep repeating phrases that the cool kids used in order to try and get in with them. And if it’s not that then it’s a circle jerk about how great you all are for believing in science, hating GB News and thinking ‘Corbyn wuz robbd!’. It’s tiring and pathetic.

in reply to: Chris Barrie has updated his website #281333

    I rest my case.

in reply to: Chris Barrie has updated his website #281325

Yeah. It IS boring when the discussion now consists of nothing but you lot running an already crap joke deep into the ground and wanking each other off about how ‘progressive’ you all are. Puts a lot of new people off, I’d imagine.

in reply to: Chris Barrie has updated his website #281322

No, this is just boring now. This place is fast becoming Cookdandbombd Mark II.

in reply to: Chris Barrie has updated his website #279741

Gosh, I didn’t know about any of that. Shows how much I pay attention to Twitter. All i knew was that he was critical of Jeremy Corbyn, which I know put a lot of people off. Yeah, he probably is a knob, but then a lot of these showbiz types seem to be.

in reply to: Chris Barrie has updated his website #279734

To be clear, you’re allowed to like Baddiel, and the reason I don’t isn’t because he’s not a raving Corbynista.
Regarding “based” I’ve always strongly associated it with the alt-right, basically being a drop in replacement for “red pilled”. I’ve been slightly surprised to see it start being used by lefties but I guess it does have a broad meaning. I just can’t disassociate it from the bad lot.

Sorry, Jonathan. I was being a bit sarcastic there. I actually have no opinion on Baddiel myself, but know he is reviled by a small but very vocal subset of people for his political leanings. I agree with you about “based” – I think it’s a horrible term, myself. It even sounds silly. I think with lefties using it, it started out ‘ironically’ but is now used sincerely (like so many other things).

in reply to: Chris Barrie has updated his website #279730

While I wouldn’t be surprised at another instance of Baddiel being a hypocritical tosser, that RT is more likely a “would you look at this shit” sort of thing, right?
I think we’re agreed that he probably hasn’t become overtly antisemitic with this, so the question is just about the exact nature of his irresponsible carelessness.
Because obviously, if “would you look at this shit” is your sentiment, then either you or the person you’re retweeting needs to actually say that. Retweets aren’t endorsements… but they kind of are though.
And it does undermine his activism a bit, if he doesn’t consider that a mainstream conservative journalist could be sincerely promoting antisemitism.

Come on. Are we actually doing this? I know we’re not allowed to like Baddiel because he’s not a raving Corbynista, but do you actually think he is agreeing with CB? Because I don’t. It obviously is a retweet in the sense of “look at this shit!”

in reply to: Chris Barrie has updated his website #279265

This is exactly it. It’s not about ridiculous lizard conspiracies or flat earth – this shite is becoming mainstream and it’s dangerous.

I’m not sure that it is actually mainstream – certainly there are a number of idiots that believe this nonsense, but I don’t think we in Britain are anywhere near the levels of madness that are seen in America (and hopefully we never will be).

I think the issue is that these beliefs appear to be much more widely held than they actually are, because the people who do hold them are VERY vocal on social media. When we start having a major political party rant about globalists, then I’ll worry.

in reply to: Chris Barrie has updated his website #279248

in reply to: Chris Barrie has updated his website #279247

Well GB News has quite a following now – a very small one, mercifully, but a dedicated one nonetheless – and quite a few of its presenters regularly spout nonsense about ‘globalists’ and the ‘Great Reset’ and what have you. One presenter seems to have made it his mission to spread the word about how the vaccines ‘can and will kill you’. So I (sadly) don’t think it’s out of the realms of possibility that watching things like GB ‘News’ has helped to radicalise Chris.

(As an aside, I went into my local chippy today. There were signs around the shop saying ‘minimum card payment is now £8. Use cash!’ and a link to a website that came out with the same old ‘globalist takeover’ rhetoric we’ve been discussing here. All rather worrying, frankly.)

in reply to: Chris Barrie has updated his website #279163

I was watching some old clips of the Channel 5 baseball show, and according to the host in this clip, assuming I didn’t mishear, Chris Barrie came on the show in 2006. Now, I’ve done a quick Google search and there was nothing about it on here – but is this true? Is Old Ironballs himself a baseball fan?

in reply to: Chris Barrie has updated his website #276286

I feel sorry for him. Assuming this isn’t some sort of elaborate wind-up, Chris seems to have gone off the deep end big time. I hope he can get the help that he needs.

in reply to: Chris Barrie has updated his website #273826

Yeah, the “naturally” is so suspect. Either he worded things very clumsily or he wanted to signal that he’s against some major types of medicine.
God, imagine if the show actually makes it through its current difficulties and a new series/special gets commissioned, but it can’t go ahead because Chris refuses to get vaccinated… I hope I didn’t will that outcome into being just by thinking of it.

Well if nothing else, it would certainly be in character for Rimmer!

in reply to: Chris Barrie has updated his website #273821

Only saw this whole thing today. How weird. My initial thoughts were that this is some sort of bizarre joke he’s playing on us all, and if so… bravo. If not, though… how weird. Rimmer has become a conspiracy theorist. “Stay naturally healthy” [emphasis mine] I can only imagine that that is some sort of coded anti-vax message? Someone on Twitter seemed to hint that there might be family reasons as to why he may or may not be averse to vaccines. I don’t really know what to make of this, to be honest.

in reply to: BBC Two – new idents #237576

Some of my favourites weren’t in that montage – the shard of metal one, the steam one, and the original paint splash – but it’s still a really nice collection of idents.

As I understand it, Dave, when they brought back these idents in 2014, they chose only to bring some of them back, hence why the one where the 2 has steam coming off it and the shard of metal weren’t seen in the montage.

I’ll always have a soft spot for Stoke Me A Clipper, partly because I know someone who was an extra in the jousting scene.
