Red Dwarf XI: Krysis Review Reviews Posted by Jonathan Capps on 17th October 2016, 20:17 I think it's safe to say that Krysis came with a fair bit of baggage. Out of all series XI episodes, this is the one people thought most likely to be shit, and not without some good reasons. At this point in Dwarf history, many are terrified of the the concept of the Kryten-centric story, with Duct Soup and Krytie TV weighing heavily on minds. Add to that the unenviable 'episode 5' position usually reserved for the weaker episodes and the striking visual of a Ferrari Red Kryten and we pretty much had the perfect storm of terribleness just waiting to tear through the fandom. Shit or good, Last Day or last straw, Krysis certainly does continue the tradition of defying pre-broadcast expectations, and for good or ill the thoughts I had coming away from the episode ended up being a million miles from my expectations going in. Talking Points: Krysis Features Posted by Ian Symes on 14th October 2016, 20:31 Well, there's certainly a lot to discuss. Red Dwarf XI has been densely packed with ideas thus far, and this episode contains possibly the highest concentration yet. With spoilers aplenty for anyone who's not yet watched the episode, here are some of what we consider to the most interesting of these ideas, neatly packaged into subheadings for your convenience. These are based on just one viewing and a quick scan through afterwards, which for the record took place following the deliberate release, as opposed to the brief accidental one. Read more →
Let’s Talk About Krysis (on UKTV Play) News Posted by Jonathan Capps on 14th October 2016, 10:00 WATCH KRYSIS HERE FINAL UPDATE: It’s now properly, actually, online at a time when it’s supposed to be. As you were. UPDATE: It seems like it’s been taken down, indicating that publishing it in the first place was a mistake. This thread now has the added frisson that even people at UKTV Play pace could get spoilered so tread very, very carefully as people who did catch it are discussing it openly in the comments. For reasons that are at this point completely unknown, UKTV Play have managed to completely shit the bed by releasing Krysis a day earlier than everyone expected, mere hours before the *actual* broadcast of Officer Rimmer. This means that within the Red Dwarf fanbase there will is now a subset of people who are a whole two episodes ahead of those chosing to watch on broadcast. The mind actually boggles, but as always this here thread is your early place to the talk about the episode, so dig in everyone!
Yes, we’ve got a video! News Posted by Jonathan Capps on 4th October 2016, 15:18 Ah, the BBFC, they’ve served us so well over the years, with episode title reveals and confirmations of DVD extras aplenty. As expected the forthcoming DVD and Bluray release has now been through classification and so all episodes and extras can be found on their website. I’ll be keeping this rundown spoiler neutral, although be warned that some of the BBFC’s notes might reveal details about the rudeness levels of future episodes. Continue reading →
Red Dwarf XI episode list and synopses released News Posted by Jonathan Capps on 5th August 2016, 12:27 Well, this is a relief. After almost a week of ignoring the massive elephant in the room (an elephant that is now back online), Red Dwarf XI‘s full episode list has been officially sent out into the wild. Episode titles, synopses, they’re all there. Despite the unfortunate early release, it’s nice to get this information in this way rather than the previous method of rooting through BBFC’s bins. So, let’s take a look, shall we? Continue reading →
