Viruses are much less of a concern these days than they were in the past because even your in-built Windows virus detection will do most of the work for you.

I recently got the first piece of malware I think I’ve ever gotten on a computer (an adware browser hijacker that would try to redirect to a page of ads when I typed in addresses like amazon.com, except it always failed because my browser was doing its job and blocking it) and Windows Defender didn’t notice a goddamn thing. I only realized because of the suspicious URL differences and looked into it myself. I installed MalwareBytes and it immediately found the program that was doing it.

So I don’t really trust Windows Defender to protect me by itself anymore.

I think that’s impacted his performance to be more scene-chewy, but that’s probably due to the material he’s been given to a similar extent.

I agree, but at the same time Doug as the director could be reining him in. Chris is definitely still capable of sublte performances in the new era but his baseline seems to be fairly over the top compared the early episodes.

I joked in another thread in the past month that he delivers every line with movements like this.

That whole scene is great, especially considering Doug seems to often struggle at bit with the casual banter scenes.

I’m also a big fan of “Swap chairs.”

And i assume unlike with Rob Grant, when something was co-written for 7 and 8, it was just written by the co-writer and then Doug made alterations or changes if needed.

I’ve always taken the joke there as being that the simile is deliberately putting a hat on a hat on a hat and it’s overwritten to excess on purpose. Especially given how Cat unnecessarily responds “Wow, that’s sharp!” It feels like it’s trying too hard to effect in my opinion. But it’s VII so maybe it’s just a first draft line that never got revised because Doug hadn’t slept in 4 weeks and the bugs were crawling in his skin.

I can’t remember most of my first viewings of 1-VIII but as far as Dave episodes go I don’t think I ever laughed harder than at the Mr. Rat reveal.

I remember in the run up to series x there was speculation that the accident would be revealed as JMC sabotage to cover something up or get rid of a liability. And that The Beginning would deal with the crew travelling back to stop the leak. 

I have zero memory of this but it sounds like something we’d be talking about…

The funny thing is that I feel like I pay way more attention to Rimmer and Kryten’s costumes, because they change less often so it’s noticeable when they do. Cat has a different outfit every episode and I have forgetten which one goes to which episode on Smegle quite a few times.

I don’t know what changes I’d made to incorporate it though, aside from telling Future Echoes to 

Me² is the episode you’d be telling to sod off if we kept Bodysnatcher and I’m not sure anyone wants to sacrifice that. Or Future Echoes, for that matter.
