June 25, 2026 at 6:11 am in reply to: Mundane observation dome #323334 MoonlightParticipant I was going to say Luna and Peanut don’t exactly strip down much no. You’re right. I demand a sequel. This is the kind of cat lore still yet to be revealed. June 25, 2026 at 5:43 am in reply to: The Inquisitor and Quarantine Missing from iPlayer #323329 MoonlightParticipant Viruses are much less of a concern these days than they were in the past because even your in-built Windows virus detection will do most of the work for you. I recently got the first piece of malware I think I’ve ever gotten on a computer (an adware browser hijacker that would try to redirect to a page of ads when I typed in addresses like amazon.com, except it always failed because my browser was doing its job and blocking it) and Windows Defender didn’t notice a goddamn thing. I only realized because of the suspicious URL differences and looked into it myself. I installed MalwareBytes and it immediately found the program that was doing it. So I don’t really trust Windows Defender to protect me by itself anymore. June 25, 2026 at 2:54 am in reply to: Mundane observation dome #323321 MoonlightParticipant One was a Polymorph, the others were a dream. June 24, 2026 at 7:24 pm in reply to: Doug had updated his Twitter #323289 MoonlightParticipant LOST (on Sin Bin Island) June 24, 2026 at 7:21 pm in reply to: Mundane observation dome #323287 MoonlightParticipant I think that’s impacted his performance to be more scene-chewy, but that’s probably due to the material he’s been given to a similar extent. I agree, but at the same time Doug as the director could be reining him in. Chris is definitely still capable of sublte performances in the new era but his baseline seems to be fairly over the top compared the early episodes. I joked in another thread in the past month that he delivers every line with movements like this. Except in the places it gets retconned into TV canon. June 21, 2026 at 3:11 pm in reply to: Doug had updated his Twitter #323106 MoonlightParticipant I heard that the driver flashing their brights is trying to warn you that he’s in your backseat. June 21, 2026 at 5:28 am in reply to: Mundane observation dome #323094 MoonlightParticipant TOWEH June 21, 2026 at 2:47 am in reply to: Doug had updated his Twitter #323090 MoonlightParticipant Still, at least we’re not asking him what his favorite episode is. June 21, 2026 at 1:22 am in reply to: Doug had updated his Twitter #323083 MoonlightParticipant Well, first I annoy Doug with a joke he doesn’t get, now G&T collectively does it. June 20, 2026 at 5:17 am in reply to: You Red Dwarf Looping GIFs #323042 MoonlightParticipant June 20, 2026 at 5:08 am in reply to: Smugle or Strugle? – Dispatches From Smegle #323041 MoonlightParticipant #RedDwarf #Smegle 20/06/2026 The Last Day (suspected it was the officer’s club or whatever) June 19, 2026 at 11:25 pm in reply to: Favorite Doug Dwarf gags #323020 MoonlightParticipant That whole scene is great, especially considering Doug seems to often struggle at bit with the casual banter scenes. I’m also a big fan of “Swap chairs.” June 19, 2026 at 9:23 pm in reply to: Favorite Doug Dwarf gags #323016 MoonlightParticipant And i assume unlike with Rob Grant, when something was co-written for 7 and 8, it was just written by the co-writer and then Doug made alterations or changes if needed. That is the case, yes. June 19, 2026 at 8:00 pm in reply to: Favorite Doug Dwarf gags #323013 MoonlightParticipant I’ve always taken the joke there as being that the simile is deliberately putting a hat on a hat on a hat and it’s overwritten to excess on purpose. Especially given how Cat unnecessarily responds “Wow, that’s sharp!” It feels like it’s trying too hard to effect in my opinion. But it’s VII so maybe it’s just a first draft line that never got revised because Doug hadn’t slept in 4 weeks and the bugs were crawling in his skin. June 19, 2026 at 5:51 pm in reply to: Favorite Doug Dwarf gags #323009 MoonlightParticipant I can’t remember most of my first viewings of 1-VIII but as far as Dave episodes go I don’t think I ever laughed harder than at the Mr. Rat reveal. And that The Beginning would deal with the crew travelling back to stop the leak. I have zero memory of this but it sounds like something we’d be talking about… …14 years ago, goddammit. June 17, 2026 at 11:41 pm in reply to: Positives in the Remastered episodes? #322886 MoonlightParticipant Remastered, putting aside bad sound effect additions and other editorializing, does a really good job cleaning up the sound in the early episodes. June 16, 2026 at 7:25 am in reply to: The Drive Plate #322663 MoonlightParticipant Somebody should write a short fanfic exploring that. She’d show us the way. June 15, 2026 at 8:43 pm in reply to: You Red Dwarf Looping GIFs #322640 MoonlightParticipant Eventually I’m gonna sit down and submit all of these to Tenor. June 11, 2026 at 4:18 am in reply to: Which episode makes the best use of both Kryten and Holly together? #322291 MoonlightParticipant (Which Apple, Amiga etc. did before Microsoft). And Apple stole it from Xerox. It’s a long line of plagiarism back to Charles Babbage, who probably just ripped off the ancient Greeks anyway. June 11, 2026 at 3:16 am in reply to: Mundane observation dome #322288 MoonlightParticipant The funny thing is that I feel like I pay way more attention to Rimmer and Kryten’s costumes, because they change less often so it’s noticeable when they do. Cat has a different outfit every episode and I have forgetten which one goes to which episode on Smegle quite a few times. June 10, 2026 at 10:47 pm in reply to: Red Dwarf frames with threatening auras #322276 MoonlightParticipant They look like they’re seriously considering jumping. June 9, 2026 at 11:27 pm in reply to: Which episode makes the best use of both Kryten and Holly together? #322095 MoonlightParticipant Only issue is the set design consisted of one room and a lot of greenscreen. Be fair. There was the elevator. So I decided to waste a good 15 minutes of my life making this: June 8, 2026 at 7:58 pm in reply to: Your Unpopular Red Dwarf Opinions #321968 MoonlightParticipant I can’t tell if Kryten saying “make me a virus that kills you” is supposed to be a joke because it certainly doesn’t play as one. The audience also doesn’t laugh at it. June 8, 2026 at 5:32 am in reply to: Ace Rimmer – What A Bastard #321926 MoonlightParticipant He abuses a confused animal. June 6, 2026 at 6:56 pm in reply to: Which episode makes the best use of both Kryten and Holly together? #321842 MoonlightParticipant What counts as a second electronic lifeform in Epideme? Unless you’re cheating and counting the translator / display. The nanobots don’t show up until Nanarchy. June 6, 2026 at 6:53 pm in reply to: Your Unpopular Red Dwarf Opinions #321841 MoonlightParticipant Bodysnatcher would also add precedent for Rimmer going completely insane in Bodyswap. I don’t know what changes I’d made to incorporate it though, aside from telling Future Echoes to Me² is the episode you’d be telling to sod off if we kept Bodysnatcher and I’m not sure anyone wants to sacrifice that. Or Future Echoes, for that matter. June 4, 2026 at 8:31 pm in reply to: Your Unpopular Red Dwarf Opinions #321716 MoonlightParticipant I mean, yeah, but what you’re describing would be the Red Dwarf version of Itchy and Scratchy Land. I kind of want to see that just for how weird it would be. Author Replies Viewing 50 replies - 1 through 50 (of 3,688 total) 1 2 3 … 72 73 74
