And whenever I press this button, which I will. Often. April 14, 2025 at 11:57 pm in reply to: Your Red Dwarf Memes for Safe and Courteous Disposal Out the Nearest Airlock #304903 MoonlightParticipant April 14, 2025 at 10:03 pm in reply to: Chris Barrie has updated his website #304896 MoonlightParticipant Democrats are shit because the politicians who actually have any sway usually agree with Republicans on more things than they agree with leftists. Their style is to loudly and correctly identify an issue and then either do absolutely nothing to fix it, or cave to the right in the pursuit of “bipartisanship” that only ever seems to go one way. And that’s ignoring the Democrats who are actually just blue Republicans. April 13, 2025 at 9:35 pm in reply to: You Red Dwarf Looping GIFs #304875 MoonlightParticipant April 13, 2025 at 9:33 pm in reply to: Your Red Dwarf Memes for Safe and Courteous Disposal Out the Nearest Airlock #304874 MoonlightParticipant The joke is that Holly has a tendency to overexplain the joke in Series VIII. April 13, 2025 at 9:00 pm in reply to: They don’t even get to Rimmerworld until the end! #304873 MoonlightParticipant April 10, 2025 at 9:52 pm in reply to: They’ve remade Casablanca #304772 MoonlightParticipant April 8, 2025 at 10:44 pm in reply to: actors and actresses (living or dead) that you wish could have been on RD? #304714 MoonlightParticipant I always thought Bill Bailey would have made a great alternate Holly, or failing that a guest ship’s computer. I remember this being a popular take back in the post-BtE days. April 8, 2025 at 10:32 pm in reply to: Is the Dave era aimed at a younger audience? #304713 MoonlightParticipant I like the XI / XII era a lot but I now hunger for a new series that takes a wild swing with the format the way the show used to do. Alter the setting. Bring Hollister into the main cast. Do something crazy. Break everything and hope it all works. April 8, 2025 at 10:00 pm in reply to: Mundane observation dome #304712 MoonlightParticipant What is a canonicity of events depicted on these early tape covers? April 8, 2025 at 6:49 am in reply to: Mundane observation dome #304689 MoonlightParticipant I’d like to file a complaint. The American VHS has the episodes in the correct broadcast order but retains the UK tape order on the box. I just wanted to watch Confidence & Paranoia on VHS in 2025 at 1:40 AM like the obviously stable and functioning woman I am and here I am watching Waiting for God. The play button doesn’t work on the remote anymore and I’m too lazy to get up so this is my reality now. Eh, I’m fine with that. April 3, 2025 at 4:23 am in reply to: Favourite Chris Hammie moments #304557 MoonlightParticipant As someone who has spent much of the past decade of her life in advanced states of intoxication, this is a very accurate depiction of the realization you should not have taken that. April 2, 2025 at 4:36 am in reply to: Jokes you don't/didn't get #304507 MoonlightParticipant April 2, 2025 at 4:30 am in reply to: Red Dwarf: The Movie Storyboards (4 Sequences) #304506 MoonlightParticipant I feel like the only stuff we absolutely know for sure came out of a version of the movie are ambiguous scenes from The Beginning and the operating scene from Lemons. March 31, 2025 at 11:27 pm in reply to: Smugle or Strugle? – Dispatches From Smegle #304442 MoonlightParticipant 31/03/2025 Based on the colors I thought it was Cat during the Blue Midget dance at first. March 31, 2025 at 10:47 pm in reply to: Line sharing in the original 6 Seasons #304439 MoonlightParticipant I still think Rimmer is the main character of Red Dwarf even if his line count doesn’t match up. March 30, 2025 at 8:54 am in reply to: Red Dwarf: The Movie Storyboards (4 Sequences) #304332 MoonlightParticipant March 30, 2025 at 3:58 am in reply to: Red Dwarf: The Movie Storyboards (4 Sequences) #304323 MoonlightParticipant He’s a mechanism for the simulants to show up without it just being a totally random occurrence. You also want some stuff at the beginning of the episode before that happens, a purpose Hogey serves as well. Debate all you want how good those opening bits are, but I fail to see how they’re inherently structurally unnecessary. March 29, 2025 at 12:11 am in reply to: Blossom Watches Red Dwarf #304283 MoonlightParticipant March 28, 2025 at 11:37 pm in reply to: Blossom Watches Red Dwarf #304281 MoonlightParticipant March 28, 2025 at 10:00 pm in reply to: Characters you had problems with #304275 MoonlightParticipant March 28, 2025 at 5:14 pm in reply to: Characters you had problems with #304246 MoonlightParticipant March 28, 2025 at 1:02 am in reply to: Your Unpopular Red Dwarf Opinions #304180 MoonlightParticipant because Doug has actually found meaningful ways for Holly to contribute. In the Promised Land, he outwits the crew, then saves their lives and also blows up a whole moon. That’s pretty badass. I don’t think you could find a way to incorporate Holly this heavily into every story, though. March 27, 2025 at 11:22 pm in reply to: I’m a new user and I like Red Dwarf #304177 MoonlightParticipant I desperately want the version of VIII that’s a refined take on VII over the one we have. March 27, 2025 at 10:51 pm in reply to: Your Unpopular Red Dwarf Opinions #304174 MoonlightParticipant As soon as you start leaving the shop March 27, 2025 at 10:49 pm in reply to: Mundane observation dome #304173 MoonlightParticipant Bulk van der Huge! March 27, 2025 at 8:07 pm in reply to: Mundane observation dome #304160 MoonlightParticipant Retro Jabun? March 26, 2025 at 10:28 pm in reply to: Acting in the Dave era #304043 MoonlightParticipant I desperately want to know what the hell this video contains that fills up almost 30 minutes, but not enough to want to give them a single click. Besides, it’s probably AI slop instead of something funny. March 26, 2025 at 8:08 pm in reply to: Sonic Mania #304029 MoonlightParticipant Just wait until they think about how the spindash would logically work. March 26, 2025 at 8:06 pm in reply to: What would a rerecorded Series 1 look like? #304028 MoonlightParticipant I nominate myself for Worst G&T Member on the basis that I found that horrible still of Hollister that Dave and I memed for about four pages. March 25, 2025 at 11:29 pm in reply to: actors and actresses (living or dead) that you wish could have been on RD? #303970 MoonlightParticipant Do we need to be necroposting in so many decade old threads? March 25, 2025 at 9:57 pm in reply to: Good Things in ‘Bad’ Episodes #303965 MoonlightParticipant Thanks for the Memory is appropriately high on the list. March 25, 2025 at 9:54 pm in reply to: Mundane observation dome #303964 MoonlightParticipant March 25, 2025 at 9:52 pm in reply to: What would a rerecorded Series 1 look like? #303963 MoonlightParticipant They would reuse the same music cue 100 times because editing is for dummies If Series XI could read it would be very upset right now. March 25, 2025 at 4:58 am in reply to: Your Unpopular Red Dwarf Opinions #303900 MoonlightParticipant I made that exact post in the “misheard lines” thread and I think it’s funnier than the actual line. March 25, 2025 at 2:28 am in reply to: What do you think are the highs and lows of the Dave era? #303892 MoonlightParticipant The bunkroom scenes in Samsara are some of my favourites. “I’m dead, how unlucky is that?!” “You’re dead but you’re still talking!” I absolutely love the opening scene of Samsara. It’s one of the few times Doug solo writes a Rimmer / Lister banter convo that feels truly on point to me. March 25, 2025 at 12:37 am in reply to: Your Unpopular Red Dwarf Opinions #303889 MoonlightParticipant No, Rimmer’s next uniform should be the yellow quilted jacket. March 25, 2025 at 12:36 am in reply to: Acting in the Dave era #303888 MoonlightParticipant I feel like all the overplaying people criticize Chris for in the Dave era is pretty much absent in Back to Earth and only starts in X. March 24, 2025 at 11:57 pm in reply to: Your Unpopular Red Dwarf Opinions #303885 MoonlightParticipant I like the material of the BTE tunic but it’s horrible fitting and the belt is a genuine fashion crime I don’t like the belt but I completely prefer the material / color to the tunic from X and on. March 24, 2025 at 11:52 pm in reply to: I’m a new user and I like Red Dwarf #303882 MoonlightParticipant The only context you need from VIII can be gained from watching the last three minutes of Only the Good and then waiting ten years to continue. March 24, 2025 at 11:50 pm in reply to: New Specials: Yeah, No, Yeah, No #303881 MoonlightParticipant They would 10,000% be deepfaking that, not using CGI, which would be infinitely cheaper. And I’m pretty sure money was never mentioned in relation to that specifically, just in a broader “there’s no money in television in 2025” kind of way. March 24, 2025 at 11:46 pm in reply to: Good Things in ‘Bad’ Episodes #303879 MoonlightParticipant March 24, 2025 at 9:38 pm in reply to: Mundane observation dome #303846 MoonlightParticipant Mundane observation (unrelated to those currently under discussion): Lister’s anti-war crusade in Meltdown about how the wax droids are people with independent thought that deserve to live is slightly undermined by just two episodes earlier when he’s pretty unrepentant about murdering the Talkie Toaster. To be fair, in the shooting order he would’ve been driven insane by Talkie after Waxworld happened. March 24, 2025 at 9:26 pm in reply to: I’m a new user and I like Red Dwarf #303839 MoonlightParticipant March 24, 2025 at 9:26 pm in reply to: Things you don’t like about series II-V #303838 MoonlightParticipant I’ve been showing Dave Dwarf to a friend of mine who only saw the BBC era and it’s still slightly jarring to me just how good the Cat is in Series X compared to VII / VIII. March 24, 2025 at 9:19 pm in reply to: 2010s Chris Barrie possessing 1980s Chris Barrie #303835 MoonlightParticipant This is definitely a post for the “Mundane observation dome” thread right here. March 24, 2025 at 9:18 pm in reply to: Good Things in ‘Bad’ Episodes #303833 MoonlightParticipant Marooned is cool, but I do think it’s slightly overrated. I wish there was some kind of conflict going on there beyond the chest/guitar, or that the anecdotes were more personal. It feels more like an extended sketch than a fully formed story. That’s a fair criticism. I just think it’s really, really funny throughout. March 24, 2025 at 9:15 pm in reply to: Sonic Mania #303832 MoonlightParticipant I’m 100% certain I would have already said this in the thread, possibly two or three times, but on my original Genesis I could not for the life of me beat the Wing Fortress boss. If I made it through the rest of the level at all, I always arrived at that boss on my last couple lives and never had enough tries to trial-and-error my way through. March 24, 2025 at 9:06 pm in reply to: Good Things in ‘Bad’ Episodes #303829 MoonlightParticipant Bodyswap has Chris and Craig do physical impressions of each other, and they’re both really cute. Chris is like a kid in Lister’s clothes, and Craig hams it up as Rimmer. Bodyswap is the best episode of Series III that isn’t Marooned. Fight me. Bodyswap is a special case where I think the characterisation of Rimmer is entirely off. To be fair, there’s HEAVY precedent for Rimmer going this insane and stealing Lister’s body. It’s just that it’s in Bodysnatcher. I think Bodyswap might only feel off to you because they don’t make a big enough deal out of how miserable Rimmer is being a hologram in the earlier part of the episode. They tell you about it but they don’t show it so much. I guess. It never felt off to me but I’ve been watching these episodes for the best part of two decades at this point so everything in them feels “in character” to me.
