You could do that story but stapling an observation dome scene to the episode we got would be enormous tonal whiplash after how crazy and broad everything before it was. We need the version of Bodyswap that would’ve existed in BTL the novel. July 14, 2026 at 3:58 am in reply to: Red Dwarf Tiermaker lists #324786 MoonlightParticipant If he’s gleefully trying to rob Lister of his life, then it’s not the Red Dwarf I love. I see his behavior in Bodyswap as being comparable to the way a drug addict might steal from someone they love, or go to broadly crazy lengths to get their fix. Rimmer hates being dead and is so overcome with finally having a body again he’ll do anything to keep it. It’s extreme but the motivation makes sense to me and doesn’t feel inconsistent with the character. July 14, 2026 at 3:52 am in reply to: Red Dwarf Frames Out Of Context #324785 MoonlightParticipant Another for the hypothetical “threatening sexy auras” thread. July 13, 2026 at 11:00 pm in reply to: Red Dwarf Tiermaker lists #324760 MoonlightParticipant At least with something like Meltdown, you could argue that he doesn’t see the droids as human and has no emotional attachment towards them. I don’t think “he only committed genocide because he didn’t see them as people” is an especially strong defense. He’s a total wackjob in both episodes and I find it very funny. Quarantine is the “Rimmer goes insane” episode where it’s truly not his fault. July 13, 2026 at 10:58 pm in reply to: Red Dwarf on YouTube #324759 MoonlightParticipant I’m just gonna write my own book so I have something to read in the meantime. July 13, 2026 at 10:13 am in reply to: Mundane observation dome #324686 MoonlightParticipant I don’t think the average person does, which is what the infomercial claims. July 13, 2026 at 8:55 am in reply to: Red Dwarf Tiermaker lists #324675 MoonlightParticipant I wouldn’t put it that high myself but I am very proud of you for putting Epideme in A tier. It is a hugely underrated episode and imo easily the best thing to come out of late 90s Dwarf. July 13, 2026 at 8:52 am in reply to: Star Trek Crap #324674 MoonlightParticipant I imported TPL. July 13, 2026 at 8:50 am in reply to: What do you expect from Titan? #324673 MoonlightParticipant Let’s just all write our own space comedies. I already did so I win. As you were. I hope that the novel adaptation of the abandoned special (involving young Lister and Rimmer) happens at some point. Still waiting for Doug to realize radio exists. You could do Series XV. July 13, 2026 at 8:43 am in reply to: Mundane observation dome #324672 MoonlightParticipant The average person doesn’t live to their 90s either. Yeah, but this show takes place in the far off year of 2077. Two was my standard for years, but it’s slipped to three now, and occasionally four. I used to drink an entire six pack of Diet Mountain Dew most days toward the end of high school. I’m not sure how I’m still alive. July 13, 2026 at 4:57 am in reply to: You Red Dwarf Looping GIFs #324657 MoonlightParticipant July 13, 2026 at 4:41 am in reply to: Mundane observation dome #324654 MoonlightParticipant I am a caffeine addict and I wouldn’t drink six cups of coffee in one day. That’s like two or three Monsters. I never clocked this line until I watched with subtitles just now. July 13, 2026 at 3:23 am in reply to: Red Dwarf Tiermaker lists #324653 MoonlightParticipant I was like “I’m enjoying seeing some unconventional rankings” until I saw Bodyswap in D tier and now I’m going to switch you off until we reach Earth. July 13, 2026 at 2:24 am in reply to: Star Trek Crap #324651 MoonlightParticipant Kirk’s voice is pitched up here I think, PAL/NTSC conversion or what? It astounds me that nowadays nobody bothers to correct this anymore. I’ve never had a 2000s NTSC DVD of a British show that had this problem but once you hit 2010s stuff like Series X of Red Dwarf you start seeing pitch shifting and other conversion artifacts. The theme song sounds drunk on X, and XI and XI have corrected pitch but have picture quality problems. Also the spines don’t match. July 12, 2026 at 9:18 pm in reply to: What do you expect from Titan? #324622 MoonlightParticipant I think we should have a Salmon of Doubt type book for the movie. July 12, 2026 at 6:11 pm in reply to: Mundane observation dome #324607 MoonlightParticipant Surely this is a composite but it looks so much better than the bluescreened Starbug shots in VI. July 12, 2026 at 5:02 pm in reply to: Red Dwarf Frames Out Of Context #324599 MoonlightParticipant July 12, 2026 at 5:49 am in reply to: God Does Not Play Dice with the Smega-Drive (Now With 47% More Blast-Processing) #324574 MoonlightParticipant July 12, 2026 at 1:16 am in reply to: Star Trek Crap #324570 MoonlightParticipant I bounced hard off Discovery and Picard early in the second and toward the end of the third episodes respectively. SNW was enjoyable enough but I’ve still never bothered to continue it past episode 3. I had 5 minutes left on Picard episode 3 when I decided I just don’t fucking care. I’ve sat through back halves of entire movies I was bored by. I just aggressively did not vibe with those two shows. July 12, 2026 at 1:11 am in reply to: Mundane observation dome #324568 MoonlightParticipant We should be estimating Chris Barrie’s cup size for two or three pages while Ian begs us to show some decency. July 11, 2026 at 6:10 am in reply to: Red Dwarf Frames Out Of Context #324515 MoonlightParticipant July 11, 2026 at 4:44 am in reply to: Red Dwarf Frames Out Of Context #324511 MoonlightParticipant July 11, 2026 at 3:02 am in reply to: Red Dwarf Frames Out Of Context #324507 MoonlightParticipant July 11, 2026 at 3:01 am in reply to: Red Dwarf Frames Out Of Context #324506 MoonlightParticipant July 11, 2026 at 2:25 am in reply to: Mundane observation dome #324505 MoonlightParticipant I was responding to something on the previous page and now I just look insane. I still want an 80 inch OLED. July 11, 2026 at 2:22 am in reply to: Mundane observation dome #324503 MoonlightParticipant If this site pools money and buys me a high end home theater system I will tattoo “What an absolute slag!” across my forearm. Let’s talk about lukewarm oatmeal or a Ken Burns documentary. July 10, 2026 at 3:01 am in reply to: Red Dwarf Frames Out Of Context #324450 MoonlightParticipant July 10, 2026 at 3:00 am in reply to: Red Dwarf Frames Out Of Context #324449 MoonlightParticipant It was bound to happen so let’s just get it out of the way. July 8, 2026 at 10:35 pm in reply to: Mundane observation dome #324347 MoonlightParticipant Going to be repeatedly turning to my brother during the 85th anniversary screening and saying this. July 8, 2026 at 9:39 pm in reply to: Red Dwarf Frames Out Of Context #324336 MoonlightParticipant July 8, 2026 at 9:37 pm in reply to: Mundane observation dome #324334 MoonlightParticipant It’s really meta that this conversation has become distracted focusing on the breast size of the new computer. July 8, 2026 at 8:12 pm in reply to: Mundane observation dome #324314 MoonlightParticipant Is Pree having a body instead of being a floating head moreso a pointed design decision to differentiate her from Holly, or is it moreso to facilitate the joke about Rimmer wanting to give her enormous tits? July 8, 2026 at 6:22 pm in reply to: Red Dwarf frames with threatening auras #324310 MoonlightParticipant July 7, 2026 at 3:26 pm in reply to: Mundane observation dome #324248 MoonlightParticipant July 7, 2026 at 3:10 pm in reply to: Mundane observation dome #324246 MoonlightParticipant I agree, but in contrast one of the high points of VIII for me is the Tony Slattery vending machine being genuinely manic and insane in a way we haven’t really seen in other machines around the ship at that point. It’s VIII over-the-toposity but it’s a case where I feel that works as an escalation of what we’ve seen before, especially considering the feud is over something so petty. July 6, 2026 at 12:47 am in reply to: Your Red Dwarf Memes for Safe and Courteous Disposal Out the Nearest Airlock #324172 MoonlightParticipant Yes, but the difference is I’m not going to join in pretending I know any European cheeses. July 5, 2026 at 1:11 am in reply to: What do you expect from Titan? #324119 MoonlightParticipant Kryten in particular suffers from this, because he has no time to develop whatsoever. He is in David Ross mode for the entire first two books. Then in Last Human and Backwards, he jumps to series 6 Kryten. I mean, in fairness, the first two novels are both pre-Series IV, whereas both third novels are post-VI. I can understand the desire to have the character immediately conform to how the audience would expect at that point in a way that wouldn’t happen if they’d more gradually written novels alongside the show’s run. July 4, 2026 at 10:52 pm in reply to: Raw RD Radio Times Cover Photos #324110 MoonlightParticipant July 4, 2026 at 10:47 pm in reply to: What do you expect from Titan? #324109 MoonlightParticipant Welp, time for me to tune the fuck out for the next 12 days. I already know the gist and that I’ll like it, and outside that I want to know, as the wise Seargeant Schutlz said many a year ago, nothing. Do you have that reference in England? I’m not translating it. July 4, 2026 at 8:56 pm in reply to: What do you expect from Titan? #324106 MoonlightParticipant It is a tragedy that Rob can’t be here to read our arguing and genital torture memes. July 3, 2026 at 9:07 pm in reply to: What do you expect from Titan? #324048 MoonlightParticipant I really like BTL now but I remember as a middle schooler reading it for the first time, being around the point of the sound wave jail break, and thinking I wish we were back on the ship. July 3, 2026 at 8:04 pm in reply to: What do you expect from Titan? #324042 MoonlightParticipant My copy treats the Infinity part as a subtitle to “Red Dwarf” on both the spine and inside the book. July 3, 2026 at 8:01 pm in reply to: Raw RD Radio Times Cover Photos #324041 MoonlightParticipant Remind me to try to recreate the magazine cover from the raw photos. July 3, 2026 at 4:42 am in reply to: Red Dwarf frames with threatening auras #323972 MoonlightParticipant July 3, 2026 at 1:30 am in reply to: Mundane observation dome #323968 MoonlightParticipant July 2, 2026 at 5:30 am in reply to: Favorite Doug Dwarf gags #323849 MoonlightParticipant It is but I am from the most milquetoast middle class community so I don’t relate to that one so much.
