Well, aside from one of its best-known quotes being “The gun is good, the penis is evil”, I suppose not. There, I explained the joke, you ingrates. I hope you’re satisfied. Liability for what? I didn’t hear of any liability discussions around World of Warcraft when they started letting players host private servers. And Warcraft’s not exactly a niche IP. July 6, 2025 at 10:05 am in reply to: Going to revitalise my love for Classic Doctor Who #308265 Future Producer of Series IX – aaaaany day nowParticipant I admittedly had hoped for more engagement, on account of the facts that the forum already encompasses a great deal of subjects unrelated to Red Dwarf and there is currently an active thread dedicated to the current era of Doctor Who Well yes, but the difference there is that that particular thread is is an ongoing discussion that invites participation, whereas yours is mainly just you posting reviews, and that’s entirely valid, but posting a review isn’t really the same thing as starting or contributing to a discussion. July 5, 2025 at 6:28 pm in reply to: Russell Two Davies #308239 Future Producer of Series IX – aaaaany day nowParticipant Alden Ehrenreich as Han Solo, he wasn’t distractingly bad. There are reports that he had to get an acting coach in midway through production and there are people who criticise him, but for me he did just fine. That movie also has its own behind the scenes drama, the original directors were “let go” or “left” (they were fired) at some point and the whole thing had to be retooled from a comedy into something quite serious. Solo was OK, but my main memory of it was that the cinematography was just so dark – so dark that I couldn’t make out facial expressions in some scenes It was bizarrely dark. Distractingly dark. I’ve never seen something so damn dark. And so few people seemed to talk about it. It’s like they forgot to light it. Or at least it’s massively exaggerated in that episode, as per Series VI flanderization I suppose. Previously we get the impression that he thinks he’s better than he is, but in Psirens he really believes he’s as good as Jimi Hendrix (or at least as good as Phil Manzanera) but is shown tunelessly strumming. In fact he even admits to “not exactly [being] a wizard” in Marooned, and jokes that he’s now “only half crap” in Nanarchy, having lost an arm. Then in Timewave he says he’s gotten better and is no longer the “tone-deaf plucker” he used to be. In fairness to him, he did hold his own against Hitler in that jam.
