Well that’s the end of that chapter.

Ha! Tried to do a block quote and ending up block quoting my own post instead of the previous one. Someone needs to teach me how to work this.

…How do you switch this off then?

Yes I’m very intrigued too. What do we think the new (some have said ‘distracting’) feature might be?

There’s a part of me that wishes it was going to be an exact replica of the VI/VII Starbug sets, which have to be my favourite ever Dwarf sets. While I can always buy the explanation that the crew have for some reason moved to a different part of Red Dwarf – the move from the I-II quarters to those in III-V being slightly more logical than the move from BTE’s quarters to X’s – and therefore the quarters set doesn’t need to look the same, the Starbug cockpit is the Starbug cockpit and can’t really change in a logical in universe way. I know the cockpit was gently upgraded with each series from III-VI, but still. Oh, and I guess the mid section changes without explanation, with a staircase and a kitchen being added (before said kitchen was knocked through in series VII to make a more open plan kitchen-diner – perfect for the late 90s).

All that said, and I’m not sure what I actually am saying, each series of Red Dwarf has always brought us something new design-wise and I’m looking forward to seeing this new version. Overall, I’m just glad Starbug is going to be playing a more major role in the upcoming series.

Ok. So we’ve established I don’t know how to do a blockquote.

    <block quote cite=”The End is nigh…
    Series I, upscaled, re-titled, de-interlaced, pro-choice, non-unionised, hosed down and given a hat.
    August 1st on blu-ray.”> </block quote cite>

Looking forward to this. Is it still being made available tomorrow?

    LISTER
Kris found out about the shower thing; she went ballistic. It’s just a little present to say ‘sorry’.

    RIMMER
    A bag of flaw?

    LISTER
No, two bags. I’m in the Tank, in the middle of Deep Space. I can’t just get on the blower to Inter Flawa, you know! (Places bags of flaw on he table) Flaw… Flaws. It’s the closest I could get.

Yes let’s have Lister desperately trying to avoid having sex with a fat person. Imagine the laughs we would all have. Aren’t fat people funny?

Maybe they should do a joke where she eats the ship. You know, because she’s fat. Because fat people are greedy as well as inherently unattractive.

    > Vogans take over Dave!

    > It sure feels like they did, with these crap teasers the past 2 weeks!

    > Vogons are described as mindlessly bureaucratic, aggressive, having “as much sex appeal as a road accident” and the writers of “the third worst poetry in the universe”. They are employed as the galactic government’s bureaucrats.

    Yes, of course. Dave sucks.

That high definition shot of the most detailed, lovingly created Red Dwarf set in a long time, if not ever, was certainly not released with the fans in mind, just another exercise in mindless bureaucracy.

Yesterday’s behind the scenes images might have given long-time fans like myself, who didn’t make it to a live recording, an insight into the atmosphere on set, and a full length peek at the costumes, but yes, let’s face it, other than that, as this thread set out to suggest, they were crap. Of course.

Seriously, Dave needs to put a lot more effort into their 2 month long, weekly teaser campaign promoting the six new episodes of Red Dwarf they have commissioned.

Come on fans, lets boycott the promotional campaign altogether. I refuse to watch another trailer, or look at another behind the scenes picture. In fact, let’s not watch the episodes at all. That’ll show Dave. Then on the next series, we might get some proper teasers.

I’m off to email Dave and tell them what I think of them.

Lister to Red Dwarf, we have here Mr Complete Smegpot.

    I was only young.
