The Fawlty sketch was brilliant, but I couldn’t help but think that msot of the rest just wasn’t funny. It’s annoying, cos he’s a great performer, but I just wasn’t laughing like I was last week. For example, The Beatles impressions were absolutely spot on, but the sketch had no jokes.

Actually, we had public editing turned off from pretty much the start. But we were so bad at monitoring that tens of fake accounts started spamming us, too.

I think that’s an excellent point, Johnny. We definitely need citations for certain things, but most of the stuff being written about will be ‘facts’ of the Dwarf universe rather than anything that needs cross referencing at every turn.

Still, if you’re happy to volunteer for the team then that’s brilliant. I think it’s likely that we’ll still keep a good eye on things and will be contributing, too. It’s just nice not to have the pressure of being solely responsible for the whole thing when we’re concentrating on other aspects of the site at the moment.

The problem with putting old TV shows onto HD-DVD or BluRay is that it would be, in the main, completely pointless. There are too few episodes to justify the space benefits, the extra bitrate just wouldn’t be used by the old video recordings. Stuff like Star Trek can HDised cos it’s all on high quality film stock and so can be re-sampled, so only really the model shots could ever be redone in HD. Which seems like something only 6.7 people would even be remotely interested in.

The idea of actually even CONSIDERING a Dwarf canon just makes me weep for humanity. If you’re talking about a show that lives and breaths for it’s story and universe (Babylon 5, BSG, Lost, any number of dramas) then fine, but why force a concept like that on a show that clearly didn’t take continuity or any sort of story all that seriously?

How is that joke anymore over-egged than Rimmer’s mocking of Lister’s ‘plan’ in The End? There’s lots of bits added on to the end of the original joke, yes, but in both cases all the added stuff is actually *funny*, which overrides any problems with over-egging.

Yes, I really love this flashback scene. It captures the feel of series 1 and 2 about a million times more than series VIII could even dream of. It’s probably the only scene in VII that I’d say was flawless. But, right down to the characterisation, the dialog, the set, the costumes it was absolutely spot on.
