I love that CD so much. I was totally unaware of its existence before I spotted the set on eBay. It’s lovely to hear the three of them having an obvious laugh and being the most interesting men in the world at the same time.

[Jonathan Capps]

Didn’t Mike mention it at this year’s DJ? I can’t remember exactly where I heard it, but when Danny mentioned it here it rung a bell.

I could be making things up, though…

[Jonathan Capps]

One bit of dodgy sound that always bothers me is in Marooned when Rimmer says “What about your guitar?”. He’s gone slightly out of range of the mics and it really sticks out for me. Can’t remember if it was fixed in re-mastered, though.

[Jonathan Capps]

Well, nothing was improved, Danny was just pointing out that the pencil was the original intention. It may not excuse the decision to remaster it that way, but it’s very interesting none-the-less.

[Jonathan Capps]

The Fawlty sketch was brilliant, but I couldn’t help but think that msot of the rest just wasn’t funny. It’s annoying, cos he’s a great performer, but I just wasn’t laughing like I was last week. For example, The Beatles impressions were absolutely spot on, but the sketch had no jokes.

[Jonathan Capps]

Actually, we had public editing turned off from pretty much the start. But we were so bad at monitoring that tens of fake accounts started spamming us, too.

[Jonathan Capps]

I think that’s an excellent point, Johnny. We definitely need citations for certain things, but most of the stuff being written about will be ‘facts’ of the Dwarf universe rather than anything that needs cross referencing at every turn.

Still, if you’re happy to volunteer for the team then that’s brilliant. I think it’s likely that we’ll still keep a good eye on things and will be contributing, too. It’s just nice not to have the pressure of being solely responsible for the whole thing when we’re concentrating on other aspects of the site at the moment.

Anyone else up for this, then?

[Jonathan Capps]

I thought this was absolutely cock on. I’m not entirely sure how he manages to pull off a none hackneyed Michael Caine, but he did, and it was brilliant. Probbaly my favourite sketch.

[Jonathan Capps]

That’s… that’s an interesting conclusion.

[Jonathan Capps]

I am a severe idiot.

[Jonathan Capps]

Yeah, I always thought it was a suggestion that ladies wearing dresses or skirts shouldn’t be allowed to spread their legs too much to accommodate the extra wide cello. Or something.

It’s really not all that funny when you think about. Just slightly arousing.

[Jonathan Capps]

I did not know that!

Blimey, it all makes so much sense.

[Jonathan Capps]

Wasn’t Voyager just one massive Red Dwarf ‘reference’?

[Jonathan Capps]

Holey?

[Jonathan Capps]

Good plan!

[Jonathan Capps]

Without a doubt. Let’s do it tonight!

[Jonathan Capps]

> Andrea

Ho yes. There’s a couple more but I’ve forgotten their names. I’m such a slut.

[Jonathan Capps]

> You need to start working in an office 9 to 5 (sorry, 10.30 to 19.00) again, you daytime telly-watching layabout.

Thus, I believe the saying goes, I win.

> I?m still addicted to Deal or No Deal.

Yeah, me too. This is the first time I’ve had a proper chance to watch ti every day. I;’I’ve been waiting ages for one of the spectacularly pretty girls to be picked to play, but with no luck.

I know what you mean about Noel, too, but I honestly find Donny a much more natural and charismatic presenter. He can do banter better and with less awkwardness, I think. Also, he says ‘identity’ funny.

[Jonathan Capps]

Don’t make me smack you upside your head!

NO, seriously, I completely and unironically love identity and I think Donny Osmond is a brilliant presenter. Seriously.

God, I hate sarcasm. it muddies the waters too much.

[Jonathan Capps]

No!

[Jonathan Capps]

God, that’d be ace! Have you sent many emails to the admin account? Cos I’ve got none come through the redirect to my address.

[Jonathan Capps]

I think he thought when you were talking about internet speculation over Superman, you were talking about internet speculation over Star Wars.

This isn’t Cappsy, by the way, it’s Seb. I just can’t be bothered logging him out. Er, of Ian’s computer. YES WE’RE HAVING AN ORGY.

[Jonathan Capps]

George Lucas is an insane cunt.

[Jonathan Capps]

With all my might.

[Jonathan Capps]

Why are you being horrible to me? Do not attack me with your foul mouth, my friend. I’m reporting you to the site’s owner.

[Jonathan Capps]

I remember Play AND Amazon listing that series 3 had a commentary. Lying fuck cunts.

[Jonathan Capps]

Haha!

[Jonathan Capps]

Far too dainty and sweet, I?d only damage him.

[Jonathan Capps]

Yes, but Return of the Jedi was released in ’83. Everything else is just a footnote.

[Jonathan Capps]

My aunt is an old school friend of Louise Jameson. Fact.

[Jonathan Capps]

The problem with putting old TV shows onto HD-DVD or BluRay is that it would be, in the main, completely pointless. There are too few episodes to justify the space benefits, the extra bitrate just wouldn’t be used by the old video recordings. Stuff like Star Trek can HDised cos it’s all on high quality film stock and so can be re-sampled, so only really the model shots could ever be redone in HD. Which seems like something only 6.7 people would even be remotely interested in.

[Jonathan Capps]

Wearing black. How staggeringly original.

[Jonathan Capps]

> Surely that?s better than the cast messing up their flow by leaving forced space for laughter. The pauses in the Xtended Tikka are fucking excruciating.

Wasn’t that purely because there were no laughs there to cover the pauses, though? You’re hardly going to get that problem with The IT Crowd.

[Jonathan Capps]

> one in the car, three in the garage

The new Murder-Rom-Com from Richard Curtis, there.

[Jonathan Capps]

I think now would be an appropriate juncture to state that I love my brick.

[Jonathan Capps]

> Also, I love the story of why the bands were even in the show in the first place?

There’s something about Paul Jackson and getting the absolute most money he can for his sit-coms, isn’t there?

[Jonathan Capps]

Yeah, my time in London was justa one year work placement thing as part of my degree.

[Jonathan Capps]

I’d definitely be up for something like this, so long as it’s sometime this month, as I’m moving back up North in September.

[Jonathan Capps]

Where are you up to with New Who now, Arlene?

[Jonathan Capps]

Damn, I’m misquoted.

[Jonathan Capps]

“Ted, what about that ?200 you won on the horses?”

[Jonathan Capps]

The idea of actually even CONSIDERING a Dwarf canon just makes me weep for humanity. If you’re talking about a show that lives and breaths for it’s story and universe (Babylon 5, BSG, Lost, any number of dramas) then fine, but why force a concept like that on a show that clearly didn’t take continuity or any sort of story all that seriously?

[Jonathan Capps]

Been there, done that, bought the antibiotics.

[Jonathan Capps]

Ah, of course. I forgot about the Ellard rebuttal.

[Jonathan Capps]

> Although, actually, the first design I was involved in was this

Heh, that was from almost exactly the time when I first found the site.

Incidentally…

… was it ever revealed what the deal was with this? Was it an official or fan mock-up?

[Jonathan Capps]

> Have you met the kettle?

Colin Baker’s not keen on either, to be honest.

[Jonathan Capps]

I can’t see how it wouldn’t be inferior versions, though. I mean Proper Character Development vs. Quickly Explained Cop-Out. There’s no contest.

[Jonathan Capps]

*sounds the SATIRES claxton*

[Jonathan Capps]

How is that joke anymore over-egged than Rimmer’s mocking of Lister’s ‘plan’ in The End? There’s lots of bits added on to the end of the original joke, yes, but in both cases all the added stuff is actually *funny*, which overrides any problems with over-egging.

[Jonathan Capps]

> Oh and not to start turning this into a TB discussion.

I hear badgers carry it. That’s Oldfield’s secret.
