I really want to track down Maid Marion actually- I’ve seen the full dvd set, but I can’t trace it in Oz. Mind you, I saw Maid Marion way before Red Dwarf, and only in the past few years twigged that Barrington = DJJ.

But I was also the right age for Brittas, and even then it just felt like the lazy formulaic option.

That’s worrying- series 4 and 5 were the two I borrowed.

I borrowed two series of Brittas to show my wife, who’s Australian, what the show was after introducing her to Red Dwarf. Now, I remembered not ranking it highly at the time, but the episode I watched was appalling! I guess it was the 90s equivalent of My Family- gained a fanbase, lost its humour, but was easy and cheap to make, so loved by the BBC execs in charge.

Yes, but as they occupy the same Lister, Rimmer, Cat and Kryten sections of the time space continuum, they can’t be real in any dimension which contains the cast of Red Dwarf/ the crew of Red Dwarf/ other alternative personalities of the crew of Red Dwarf (Ace, Spanners, Padre, Bongo etc.)

The message from the Cat does say that Gerbilhead passed the past 10 years playing this game. Obviously if there was a point or an end he would gone crazy. Poor guy, first Rimmer, then a shit computer game. I’d rather have chicken…

I’ve followed this one with interest- in all the interviews and commentaries there are never explicit examples of the animosity, although my guess is that Craig is a wind-up merchant and Chris is altogether more straight-laiced and serious. I’m guessing at the beginning this put them on the wrong foot with each other personally (Craig has admitted to being hungover through most of the first three series), but Rob and Doug used that to develop the characters (I think you see a lot of the actors in the characters).

As for particular examples of hostility, the only two I can recall are just Craig getting up Chris’s flared nostrils- the soaking and jibes during Dimension Jump, and sending Chris’s horse into flight during Gunmen. I wonder if this was the incident that put Chris off coming back for Series VII?

I think they should leave Series V alone. I know they did their nuts trying to make it, but all in all I’d say its my favourite.

‘Red Dwarf Actor Not Guilty Of Non-Custodial Crime After All”- Hardly a newspaper shifting headline is it? Especially considering the charges didn’t match the alleged crime that was reported anyway. The only reason this is getting any coverage at all is the return of RD generating interest- hence the slew of single sentance [sic] headlines about the RD cast (ok, mainly Craig Charles…)

Didn’t Ellard strongly ‘hint’ that the pencil shaped ship made for the movie still exists? I can’t see them going to the effort of either a new model or CGI ships, especially as it seems as if there will be a lot of CGI work already going into the set background.
