UPDATED 21.30 - ROBERT LLEWELLYN CONFIRMS NEW SERIES COMMISSION

Hard to believe it's almost two years since Headfuck Monday, isn't it? But, while we're a long, long way from such things occurring yet again, today has at least given us cause to suspect that the next twelve months are going to see Dwarf news a-plenty - and with reports coming out from one source before being not-undenied by another, we're getting those first shivers of excitement as word starts to spread and threaten to overtake us. As first announced by Danny John-Jules on Twitter, Paul Montague, Red Dwarf production designer for Series 1 and 2 of Red Dwarf, has died.

I am possibly the worst person in the world to report such news, as I tend towards either being extremely rude or inciting flame wars, so I shall leave it to Andrew Ellard to pay tribute - and make you furrow your brow at things being lost to the mists of time.

Hmm. Doug Naylor has just tweeted this:

An early Xmas present which I can't open until January. What a beautiful day Dwarfers!!!

I'd always assumed that Red Dwarf associate (or should that be "exec"?) producer Andrew Ellard spent his entire life immersed in the show, even when it wasn't being made. Yes, yes, we've been lousy at keeping up with this sort of thing recently. But in case you're not aware, the Proper TV Version of Carpool with Bobby Llew starts tonight, on Dave, at 8.30pm. The first guest is Jason Manford, but don't let that put you off. We've already seen how something doing really well on Dave can lead to lots of immediately exciting possibilities that definitely don't go wrong. Er.

Anyway, Robert is great, and this deserves to do well, so let's help make it so. There's also a nice little piece on BBC News about the show, in which Robert admirably tackles the question of whether there are any of his Dwarf pals he hasn't interviewed yet by answering "Norman Lovett", although admittedly failing to add "Because he's been an arsehole lately."
