Not going to click and feed, but I thought this was a nice, real photo of the cast.

Oh, I was going to bring up Stasis Leak, and Out of Time. Why are there TWO Listers?!? What were any of them plugging (singles/videos?)

    …And what were they smoking?

My free Prime membership (that I activate and immediately cancel once every couple of years when I buy something off Amazon) just expired, tragically.

Damn Cheeky. I loved the Simpsons Zombies.

I have to admit.. I’m struggling a bit with the slow pace. I got halfway through ā€œCityā€ and switched to ā€œRobotsā€ for a break. I love the world and the robots, but I’m finding the royal people in charge of the craft a bit wearying – they sound like they’re all acting different plays and yelling in weirdly clashing tones to each other. I’ve still got Fang Rock and Dalek Invasion of Earth to watch, and I’ve ordered the first Leela story with her forest tribe as I think i have memories of seeing it as a kid.

And once, I abruptly ran into the end of one of the parts, seeing Xoanon’s Baker Head go “NO… NO… NOOO!!!!!!!!!)

    Hee hee hee, so surreal.

i didn’t have the foggest notion TLC had this one. I should check for it in the Listings.

I really agree with the person in Robert’s Substack comments who said this:

I sincerely hope that someone outside of the general fandom might
want to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the first episode by
producing the special Doug wrote that UKTV lost interest in. TLC seem to
be trying to get into the warm seat Dave has vacated now it’s
U&Dave and dropped their comedy output, so who knows…

TLC revived Mock The Week earlier this year and have since commissioned 5 more series. They seem to be using it to try and draw audiences to their new panel shows (one of which they commissioned a second extended series of before the first one went out so they’re certainly not short on money). Although they are only commissioning panel shows now, this time last year they hadn’t commissioned any comedy but have been expanding since so I think it’s only a matter of time until they do something scripted. I can’t see why Red Dwarf can’t be their scripted equivalent of Mock The Week, brining TLC high ratings whilst also giving them an opportunity to advertise their other shows.

I mean, it doesn’t even mention (from memory) the 1998 re-releases (that stopped at season 4 or 5), the four-episode rental exclusives, the Borg Box, the 10 ā€œfeature-length TV movieā€ re-releases, the Best of Both Worlds ā€œGreatest Battlesā€ re-release, trivia like some cover screenshots mistakenly using rehearsal footage and some episodes being the wrong way around. Probably because it’s the show’s main Wikipedia page and not a deep page on a dedicated fan wiki, I guess.

Thanks for listing all those. I wish the total planned Wolf 359 Battle for DS9’s Emissary was available online.

Earthshock is not quite as engaging at 31 as it was at 11, but it’s still enjoyable. Using the fact that Adric’s star for mathematical excellence is made of gold as a weapon against the Cybermen is fantastic Chekhov’s Gun stuff, from one season and two script editors prior. I really like this Cyberman getting stuck in the door shield, and I love how it’s always been obvious that the final shot of episode 3 is just the same shot duplicated three times.

The Earthshock Cyberman design has always been my favorite. Its so charming.

Ditto. My favourite out of all the Cybermen. I’ve got a PDF’d copy of FASA’s Cyberman Sourcebook for their Dr Who RPG, which is excellent.

When I was a kid I played through the space Quest games, king’s quest 4, and I really love this mixed up fairy tales game with this Dragon Called Bookwyrm, and a scary hairy (pun intended) villain called Bookend. Nice and short.

In April 1998 when I got into Adventure Creator (which was later retitled Adventure Game Studio, or AGS) I really loved demo quest, which used the photograph of some town in Britain with a few brick buildings in the background, & a white van in the background that was really really really really really really realistic at the time, and I later loved other AGS made games, including this Star Trek the Next Generation parody where picard gets drunk, loses a poker game and all to some Pirates, and they have to hand over there clothes & the Enterprise D and data and then picard goes “Worf, Data, run for it!!!!! I’ll take care of these two…” then they escape, then when the demo ended, the ship was damaged in orbit around some jungle planet, and data went missing.

too bad the guy who made that game never finished it. it was really funny!!!!!!!!!!!! 🤩

If it’s not actively taking money away from the original artists, and the people doing it aren’t taking in a massive profit, and the quality is good, I have no ethical issues with it.

I’ll be honest, I’ve never understood the anger the resolution gets. Although maybe that’s because I was sure that’s how it would resolve, because… well, it makes sense. I explained it to a kid at school and he was unconvinced and then I felt very smug when the pre-credits scene came along.
I dunno, maybe a sci-fi cliffhanger should have a resolution an 11 year old can’t guess but I felt satisfied.
Of course they should have gone back to get the time drive and used it to get Red Dwarf back and then stole it from themselves making the whole arc a bootstrap paradox, removing the necessity for STARDISbug, and relegating VIII as we know it to non-existence, but then I’ve made this point before.

    I’m all for eliminating VIII.

Hamsters are to animals in Red Dwarf what ā€œFrankā€ is to names in Red Dwarf:

    Lemmings are not far behind:

    Plus a few gerbils:

    Also some mice (ā€œalbino mouse droppingsā€ – ā€œMickey Mouse? We ain’t even Betty Boop!ā€ – ā€œWait, I know this game, it’s called ā€˜cat and mouse’.ā€ – ā€œIt’s not a mouse, ma’am. It’s Archie.ā€) and of course:
