Wow, going to have to go and read up on this, sounds interesting.

Funnily enough I stopped reading because I felt he mag wasn’t critical enough in certain aspects and now it is being killed because of being too critical.

Does seem like something funny has happened around the Shada DVD. Clayton Hickman had done the cover but his design was declined with no reason given late on.

“YouTube Poop, often abbreviated as YTP, is a type of video mashup created by editing pre-existing media sources for humorous, annoying, confusing or shocking purposes and often containing mature content.”

They aren’t labelled as such but they are YouTube Poop.

I’m reading Infinity right now. Found loads which could be picked out and have been used in Series XI and XII. Stuff like Kryten insisting he is just a service mechanoid and not knowing about the Duality Drive is similar to Snacky and hacking stasis booths.

    Demons and Angels.

It requires no knowledge of the characters to really appreciate and the idea of evil versions of characters is a staple of sci-fi so will be universal in understanding

    >So the Mirror token essentially allows you to drink a free pint of crap lager while possibly getting a glimpse of a Leopard Lager label as the barman pours the bottle into a glass?

The token specifies bottle *or* glass. No reason you can’t ask for a bottle and drink it out of that and then take it home once it is empty.

Worth mentioning that the bars and pubs are not allowed to give it away to take out the establishment as they are not an off license.

Got mine on the shelf. It may not be a can but that doesn’t really matter. A nice memento for Series XII.

You could have ordered it and poured it out. That is you only wanted the empty bottle. That is what I’ll be doing if they won’t let me take the full unopened bottle when I pick mine up.

    >They all masturbate into each other’s mouths the end.

Due to budget restraints that episode has to be padded into a two-parter and now includes a subplot about Kryten’s bollocks being on the loose.

Lister attempted to murder Talkie Toaster but ended up leaving him in a repairable state.

I’d put the simulant murder in Rimmerworld solely on Rimmer.

If we are including hallucinations then I guess we can also count simulations. Kryten caused a few in Beyond a Joke. I seem to remember Lister shooting a Gelf point blank in the same episode but we don’t know if they survive.

Shouldn’t the crew dying be put under accident along with Irene? Likewise Cassandra. Lister also accidentally killed Holly by leaving a bath on.

The banner will be expanded to be three times as long. The search box will have legs.

Every news story will have the back of Doug Naylor and Ed Bye’s head superimposed to the bottom of the page so it looks like they are reading the news too.

One of the first rules of the internet is when entering a community you should initially lurk to get a feel for the place.

The people in the first few posts were joking around in the same way they would in any thread. In fact this was covered in the very first reply in this thread: “We just tend to dick around amongst ourselves, derailing threads to make puns for several weeks at a time until we eventually learn each other’s names.”

React to normal forum behaviour with insults and offensive words (and don’t pretend it isn’t offensive or that there is a way of using it in a correct context) and don’t be surprised if that means you are treated in a different way.

    Also: Hi I’m James.

Rob the episode of LOW ON PRETZELS? Fuck that.

Captain Bollocks is perfectly in character for Kryten bearing in mind Kryten is able to insult Rimmer behind his back. Rimmer was never supposed to know the name of the folder.

I do find it strange that they decided to pad two stories rather than doing a bottle episode just in the prison cells set along with one padded story. It just makes the series so misshapen.

Perhaps they felt Duct Soup wasn’t recieved well in similar circumstances the previous series so felt they wanted to just expand a bigger episode. Or maybe there wasn’t time to write an entirely new half hour.

You might look at something and say it is creatively bankrupt or just a cash in but other people may still get the love that you got from the earlier stuff.

Not enjoying something is fine. Saying it is shit is fine. Saying it should end because you found it shit and have an internal struggle over your continued viewing of the show despite other people not finding it shit is selfish.

I regret watching Futureworld. I think it is the worst film ever made. It was purely made to cash in on Westworld. Should that film not have been made? Nah, it should have. Some people do like it. I just read a review that says “with its visual ingenuity, interesting ideas, and a winning couple of leads, I like this just enough to give it a recommendation”.

Quite frankly I’m one of the big champions for later Simpsons (as in post Season 8, I’ve not seen any since around Season 20).

I was just making fun of how ridiculously long the show has gone on and how they only seem to still be making it to make up the numbers for syndication and to beat Gunsmoke rather than to actually make a good show.

If people still watch it then sure they should make more. These days it does quite poor in the rating and would probably do just as well with repeats airing but there are people who still enjoy the new ones and it doesn’t overwrite the old ones so I have no problem with new Simpsons other than reserving the right to take the piss out of the longevity.

These days any mainstream critic from a newspaper will be spewing the usual bullshit. Blah blah Breaking Bad. Blah blah Game of Thrones. Blah blah TV is like film now. Blah blah all TV from before 2009 is shit.

It is that one about TV being so much better now that really infuriates me. Get in the fucking bin with anybody who fucking jokes about a wobbly set for the billionth time. Get a fucking suspension of disbelief you tosser and a new critique that wasn’t lazy before I was born.

And I should add that I love Breaking Bad. It deserves all the praise it gets. I just don’t think it represents this massive watershed moment in television. I watch television all the way from the late 50s through to now and it is brilliant from then and it is brilliant now. I can just imagine these fucks watching an amazing piece of “early” television like The Twilight Zone: The Masks and having some sneering snobbish view on it which would rile me like crazy.

I also don’t see why people are desperate for TV shows to end as this guy is with Red Dwarf. I mean The Simpsons have made more than enough episodes now but aside from that why does any show need to end just arbitrarily. I just don’t get this idea at all about shows being ruined by episodes that come later. Are the early episodes of Red Dwarf, The Simpsons, Doctor Who or any other long running TV show somehow ruined by episodes that happen later?

The Brittas Empire limped on for two further series after the brilliant first five but does that mean the last two rubbish series have ruined the first five series? No, even when taking into account the absolute shite ending. And actually even despite being a bit crap the last two series had a couple of really good episodes.

Far less tedious answers are also available:
    1. Both
    2. They died
    3. Time Travel
    4. Time Travel
    5. Oh do fuck off with this already answered in 1989 tedium
    6. Yes
    7. Time Travel
    8. Todhunter misspoke. 169 people work in maintenance

I don’t particularly give a shit in so far as I don’t need an on screen answer. I’m happy enough just to fill in the gap myself.

That is why I loved “Nine years later” at the start of Back to Earth. Stuff happened, now we are here and you can fill in the gap yourself if you like.

With regards to special stages and bonus stages you can do them in a complete save file.

A special ring is very early in Press Garden Act 1 which you can use over and over again. Just go down and left after the robots throwing a saw back and forth to find it.

The bonus stages reset all of the starposts aside from the one you entered every time you use them so you can just go back and forth two of them. There is a place early in Green Hill Zone Act 2 in which you can easily access two of them with only a few seconds to get to each. One is on the low route and one on the high route and they are separated by three platforms to get up to the high route.

    >I have the Just The Shows DVD, and it looks fine to me.

That has made me finally get round to something actually.

I got the anniversary set extremely cheap a few months ago and I’ve been wondering if the lack of animated menus and commentary meant the episodes are of a higher bitrate and therefore look better on the “Just the Shows” discs over the original releases.

Just did a quick comparison of The End. Absolutely identical as far as I can see.

Maybe it was routine maintenance on the drive plate which ordinarily wouldn’t put the ship at risk if done wrong but Rimmer screwed up so monumentally (as in the floor repaired in Fathers and Suns) that it put the ship at risk.

The equivalent of Rimmer being ask to fix the DVD drive on a computer so he decided to take the whole modem apart and he fucked it up when he put it back together.

In a deleted scene Hollister says there are two more places which go to two “selected at random from the prisoner roll call”. Some guy called Polsen gets the first place and Lister gets the second. Lister goes to give the place to Kochanski but Baxter puts his hand on his shoulder and he gives it to him and Baxter says they are square for the hooch.

Presumably if the ship wasn’t already a Starbug down from the opening episode they’d have had room for all of the JMC crew with room spare.
