Please, please let it be so. I think some of them atleast will be in Red Dwarf: Unplugged but that is not really an appearance. January 16, 2009 at 7:52 pm in reply to: Norm’s post-Dwarf tell-all #88900 JamesTCParticipant It could be that he wasn’t even set or asked to be on the specials and just made up the story for more sales of his DVD which seemed to be successful since he mentioned more people got it. January 16, 2009 at 7:37 pm in reply to: if there ever was to be a new holly .. who would you choose ? #88894 JamesTCParticipant >How about Patrick Stewart? In a blond wig… January 16, 2009 at 7:26 pm in reply to: Star Wars Retold #88888 JamesTCParticipant George Lucas made another version of it! January 16, 2009 at 7:06 pm in reply to: if there ever was to be a new holly .. who would you choose ? #88885 JamesTCParticipant >Hattie wouldn?t be a NEW Holly now, would she? Unless she wore a blond wig and used a Dutch accent. January 16, 2009 at 7:04 pm in reply to: Oh no! #88884 JamesTCParticipant Oh, well I guess going back to the OP the thing that made me go Oh no was how much of a twat Ian Levine is and how I didn’t know. I plead ignorance! January 16, 2009 at 6:45 pm in reply to: Oh no! #88880 JamesTCParticipant Most of my Who knowledge comes from the DVDs and up to now I have not heard Ian bashing, a bit on the forums every now and again. Maybe that will change with ‘Attack of the Cybermen’ set for March. January 16, 2009 at 6:27 pm in reply to: if there ever was to be a new holly .. who would you choose ? #88875 JamesTCParticipant David Ross. January 16, 2009 at 6:26 pm in reply to: Oh no! #88874 JamesTCParticipant I guess it is just that I don’t like Saward, he is not a very nice man. I don’t know much about Levine. January 16, 2009 at 6:15 pm in reply to: Oh no! #88872 JamesTCParticipant >Taking false credit for co-writing Attack of the Cybermen I thought he provided the story outline and the Saward is the only person to deny that Ian had involvment, I’d be prone to trusting Ian over Eric. January 16, 2009 at 6:02 pm in reply to: Plot hole in ‘Ouroboros’ #88868 JamesTCParticipant >They didn?t break the fourth wall, they put windows in it. And cameras and a camera man and a writer, they just didn’t get around to mentioning them. January 16, 2009 at 6:00 pm in reply to: Oh no! #88867 JamesTCParticipant >I have the same birthday as Ian Levine! Why is he so hated by Doctor Who fans? I don’t see much wrong with the guy, it is down to him that some Doctor Who episodes were recovered, he should be praised for bringing them from total destruction, what has he done that is so bad? (not including Doctor in Distress) January 16, 2009 at 5:40 pm in reply to: Plot hole in ‘Ouroboros’ #88860 JamesTCParticipant Where is the other windows in Star Bug? I don’t remember seeing any apart from in ‘Tikka to Ride’ when the ship splits but that is windows in the middle of the ship. January 16, 2009 at 5:28 pm in reply to: TellyDrone #88858 JamesTCParticipant From memory Doug?s intro at the start of the series 8 script book acknowledges a lot of what ?the fans? didn?t like about the series and so for series 8, presumably to please his audience; back came not only Rimmer, but Red Dwarf itself, the studio audience and the bunk-room scenes. It was in effective a nostaglia trip. Makes it sound like Doug Naylor is John Nathan Turner, give the fans what they ask, get fucked over when they don’t like what they asked for. January 16, 2009 at 5:23 pm in reply to: Plot hole in ‘Ouroboros’ #88857 JamesTCParticipant >There are hundreds of portholes in Red Dwarf, how else would they see out? We are talking about Series 7 were it is set on Star Bug which only has one screen looking out and that is at the front. January 16, 2009 at 5:22 pm in reply to: Norm’s post-Dwarf tell-all #88856 JamesTCParticipant Has anyone got a link or a quote of what Norm said about Grant Naylor productions? I heard he was having a go at their attempts of a film. January 16, 2009 at 5:19 pm in reply to: The Bodystretcher Collection #88855 JamesTCParticipant Don’t forget the bonus hour long feature on the ball fiasco. January 16, 2009 at 4:45 pm in reply to: how would you resolve the end to ” only the good …” #88848 JamesTCParticipant >Is it because BBC One shows mainstream, populist shows that are designed to appeal to larger numbers of people, and that BBC Two is designed for more niche, specialist programming? That does seem about right, maybe it is just that I prefer BBC2 so much more, I don’t really watch much on BBC1, Doctor Who is really the only show. One flaw in what you said is that you say it is the program when putting Torchwood on BBC2 from BBC3 will gain an audiance, putting it on BBC1 from BBC2 will almost certainly gain more, why? Put a program on the same night on BBC1 and on BBC2 the same time and BBC1 will get millions more viewers, crazy if you ask me, channels should be judged by each show as it goes. January 16, 2009 at 4:35 pm in reply to: The Bodystretcher Collection #88846 JamesTCParticipant >Just The Norm Will it include the re-mastered bits as bonus features, what about the clips from ‘Beat the Geek’ too!? January 16, 2009 at 4:29 pm in reply to: how would you resolve the end to ” only the good …” #88844 JamesTCParticipant You need to buy a free-view box which right now costs about ?10 for the cheapest which isn’t that bad, I think in a rescent thing it said 90% had free-view anyway. From this year all the TVs will need a free-view box to recieve a signal as well, this means BBC3 and Dave will be just as accesable as BBC2 or ITV. I wonder why BBC1 always gets so much more ratings than BBC2, it is only one channel up! January 16, 2009 at 4:26 pm in reply to: Norm’s post-Dwarf tell-all #88843 JamesTCParticipant He should just write a book around the Ball fiasco. January 16, 2009 at 3:27 pm in reply to: The Bodystretcher Collection #88833 JamesTCParticipant >doctor who boxsets just have a few deleted scenes and some confidential That is the new series were they are just lazy with the DVDs and don’t give a shit. The classic series on the other hand gives a mammoth amount of extras, infact the best DVD on my collection is ‘The Trial of a Time Lord’. January 16, 2009 at 3:14 pm in reply to: The Bodystretcher Collection #88830 JamesTCParticipant Just the Extras – For the people who only got the ‘Just the Shows’ sets. January 16, 2009 at 2:33 pm in reply to: best series of dwarf ?? #88825 JamesTCParticipant As seperate episodes ‘Back in the Red’ is not too good (by Red Dwarf standards) but the versions on the DVD which splice the story together with re-orded scenes and deleted scenes added make it much more enjoyable, sort of like a Red Dwarf Movie (who would have thought of it). ‘Cassandra’ was probably the smartest episode of Series VII and VIII and alot of the comedy is drawn from that which improves the episode greatly. The ending is very good too. ‘Krytie TV’ is my favourite of Series VIII, I guess I just love Kryten too much. I like Lister and Rimmer being sort of friends here because they have been in that prison for atleast a few months by this time (isn’t it established as a year in ‘Pete’?) so they must have learned to live with one another but I must say Robert steals the show as the rogue Kryten. ‘Pete’ is really more of two episodes. Part 1 is fantastic, I loved almost everything in it, the basket ball game worked quite well actually, jokes like Kryten getting the ball and cleaning it are just brilliant. The Time Wand stuff was a bit of a hit and miss, things like the man talking and stopping was terrible but the stuff with Cat and Kochanski ecoming younger with different clothes was very funny and it is followed with probably my favourite joke of the series, Kochanski says “How will we get this back on board” and Kryten replies “Don’t worry I have an excellent place to conceal it” and in the next scene he has that raised head, I don’t remember watching much of Red Dwarf VIII when it was on, I remember being really happy while watching BITR1 and that scene. Part 2 has a dinosaur. ‘Only the Good’ was a good episode but I was never happy with how it ended the series, I won’t have to worry about that now! January 16, 2009 at 2:15 pm in reply to: how would you resolve the end to ” only the good …” #88827 JamesTCParticipant I certainly hope these are not the last specials. I thought they were more like pilots to see if Red Dwarf can still work today. January 16, 2009 at 2:08 pm in reply to: Plot hole in ‘Ouroboros’ #88824 JamesTCParticipant Plus of course the fact that somehow Lister managed to find his way to the Aigburth Arms in Liverpool more or less around the timeframe he was originally from, and opted to return to Red Dwarf 3 million years in deep space despite the whole objective of the show for Lister was to find Kochanski (check) and get to Earth (check). Same thing in Tikka To Ride, when they end up on Earth (in Texas) with a time drive. Why would you even go back into deep space where you are lost and have no supplies, when you?re back on Earth? In ‘Tikka to Ride’ x-tended it had the ending with Lister getting the curry back and he says something along the lines of “If only we can use this to get back to our time” and Kryten replies “Sir, look what happened with Dallas, who knows what would happen if we lived in the past permanently”. January 16, 2009 at 2:03 pm in reply to: The Bodystretcher Collection #88823 JamesTCParticipant Despite being awful I would still like a Just the USA Shows DVD. It should have a commentary with Doug just saying “shit” all the way through. January 15, 2009 at 10:55 pm in reply to: best series of dwarf ?? #88762 JamesTCParticipant Meltdown is a bit ropey though, isn?t it? Well they did mention the noose. I love Series IV but VI slightly out does it, basically Series III-VI are very close. January 15, 2009 at 10:52 pm in reply to: Plot hole in ‘Ouroboros’ #88761 JamesTCParticipant I like a good paradox, it is one of the reasons I love ‘Out of Time’ – ‘Tikka to Ride’, you can never have enough paradox. January 15, 2009 at 4:36 pm in reply to: Plot hole in ‘Ouroboros’ #88739 JamesTCParticipant I know it is has alot but I found that plot hole interesting and I have not heard it mentioned before. January 15, 2009 at 3:36 pm in reply to: random question #88736 JamesTCParticipant I certainly get the immpression it is 4X30 minutes especially since Robert Llew said at first it was a one hour special, I hope he didn’t mean one hour and that includes adverts. Besides it would be easier to market the new Dwarf as 30 minutes because it would then match the previous episodes. January 15, 2009 at 2:21 pm in reply to: Marleen’s NO SPOILERS ‘Recommend Me Old Who’ Thread. #88731 JamesTCParticipant DWO confirmed ‘The Keys of Marinus’ for 2009 release, 2|E are being really open about released this year! Not that I’m complaining, I love knowing what is to come. January 15, 2009 at 2:19 pm in reply to: Lister or Rimmer as a bunk mate. Which would you end up killing? #88730 JamesTCParticipant I?ve already lived with a messy scouser and that worked just great because I was just as messy. So, yeah, Lister all the way. As have I, my brother, does that count? Anyway I would probably pick Rimmer because he is clean and would mostly keep to himself as would I. January 14, 2009 at 2:28 pm in reply to: best series of dwarf ?? #88711 JamesTCParticipant V. Next? VI comes after V. January 14, 2009 at 2:02 pm in reply to: best series of dwarf ?? #88708 JamesTCParticipant That because he prefers the remastered Series II. Mine is VI. January 11, 2009 at 11:48 am in reply to: Dave presents: Red Dwarf Unplugged? #88664 JamesTCParticipant To be fair it is better than a clip show. January 9, 2009 at 5:46 pm in reply to: The new specials will be recorded infront of an audience #88595 JamesTCParticipant They?re gonna feel like proper episodes and everything! They are proper episodes. I think filming will take about 4 weeks at most, it is only 2 episodes and a clip show to film with the behind the scenes filming through all 3. It starts the same day filming as Doctor Who I think, good day for TV filming, bad day for me as I have an A-Level Statistics exam! Rob also said in his Tweet that filming was in Manchester and London if that is of intrest to anyone. I can’t wait to see the new and improved Kryten! January 9, 2009 at 4:16 pm in reply to: TellyDrone #88587 JamesTCParticipant Plus there?s that thing where I am the only person in the entirety of the Multiverse who thinks that series VII was good. I thought Series VII was fantastic, it is the first series I can remember watching on original broadcast, I remember watching ‘Blue’. I can’t understand why people don’t like Series VII, it is probably the worst out of all of Red Dwarf’s Series but far better than any other TV show ever made. Give me Series VII over Doctor Who or Seinfeld any day! January 9, 2009 at 2:18 am in reply to: TellyDrone #88571 JamesTCParticipant But Red Dwarf doesn’t have a laughter track, it is just filmed infront of a live audience, even Series VII was shown to an audience to record the laughter. January 8, 2009 at 6:25 pm in reply to: Mr Flibble is the 12th Doctor! #88558 JamesTCParticipant If you do write an episode bring back the Mondas Cybermen, they are long overdue a return. Either that or WOTAN, “Doctor Who is required”. January 8, 2009 at 12:43 pm in reply to: The Spoilery Doctor Who Thread (The Next Doctor / Matt Smith casting) #88523 JamesTCParticipant ?Change, my dear! And not a moment too soon!? “What’s the use of a good quotation if you can’t change it?” January 7, 2009 at 4:48 pm in reply to: Marleen’s NO SPOILERS ‘Recommend Me Old Who’ Thread. #88459 JamesTCParticipant You could probably swap any episode from 2-9 around and it wouldn’t change too much but I have to say episode 10 was just brilliant besides it is great to get another Troughton. I was hoping for more Pertywee though, he has 13 stories after ‘Frontier in Space’/’Planet of the Daleks’, that is 13 stories spread over 3 years, 4 for one year and five for another, I think the next Pertwee’s we will see will be the liked of ‘The Daemons’ and ‘Invasion of the Dinosaurs’ though, they can benefit from dot chrome reconstruction which was used for ‘Planet of the Daleks’, shame they didn’t realise before ‘Doctor Who and the Silurians’ was released, that would have a better picture using dot chrome restoration then the use of NTSC tapes. January 7, 2009 at 2:54 pm in reply to: Marleen’s NO SPOILERS ‘Recommend Me Old Who’ Thread. #88453 JamesTCParticipant ‘Planet of the Daleks’ has been recolourised using that new dot chrome reconsturction, it will be released in 2009, this is the schedule up to about september as confirmed in DWM – E-Space Trilogy The Rescue / The Romans Attack Of The Cybermen Delta and the Bannermen Image of the Fendahl The Deadly Assassin Dalek War box set: Frontier in Space / Planet of the Daleks The War Games The best set of stories yet, this will probably be the best year for DVD releases still no Davison story in sight though 3 or 4 more stories to release in 2009 after those. January 6, 2009 at 10:39 pm in reply to: The Spoilery Doctor Who Thread (The Next Doctor / Matt Smith casting) #88436 JamesTCParticipant I always thought it was that the TARDIS had several different console rooms through the ship which all have a gateway to the outside of the ship. Certainly the second wooden TARDIS room from season 16 was in a different part of the TARDIS since it starts with Tom and Lis finding the room. January 6, 2009 at 5:13 am in reply to: The Spoilery Doctor Who Thread (The Next Doctor / Matt Smith casting) #88420 JamesTCParticipant Obviously the idiots who voted for Colin Baker are not familiar with 1. what was happening behind the scenes of Who which caused the scripts to be worse and 2. Big Finish Audio. If they heard ‘Medicinal Purposes’, ‘The One Doctor” Arrangements for War’, ‘Bloodtide’, ‘Jubilee’ or ‘The Apocolypse Element’ which are some of the best Who has to offer, people are usually following the crowd saying Colin Baker ruined Who, what the fuck did Colin Baker do, he had character development and mystery? I guess someone will come along and say his outfit was awful, it was meant to be. The only thing that was wrong in 1985 was the lack of money from bastards like Michael Grade who hated the show and would stop at nothing until its off the air, oh and Eric Saward was a bit, erm, overbearing. January 5, 2009 at 6:41 pm in reply to: The Spoilery Doctor Who Thread (The Next Doctor / Matt Smith casting) #88405 JamesTCParticipant Oh if it wasn’t clear it is http://www.drwho-online.co.uk January 5, 2009 at 6:33 pm in reply to: The Spoilery Doctor Who Thread (The Next Doctor / Matt Smith casting) #88404 JamesTCParticipant >You were speaking to your friend, the head of the Classic Doctor Who DVD range, via a citable publication? It is actually the people from 2E on DWO, they have Colin Baker, Paul McGann, Georgia Moffet, Gareth Roberts and many more people in their ask and answer section, you ask a question, they answer, 2E are a member, go on there and you will see that, it is official, not some random guy who says he is the head of 2E Doctor Who classic series releases. January 5, 2009 at 6:30 pm in reply to: The Spoilery Doctor Who Thread (The Next Doctor / Matt Smith casting) #88403 JamesTCParticipant A further reply on the same topic by Dan Hall, bearing in mind this was from October 2007 – “We have been VERY lucky with the Master. But certainly there are no links with the New Series. Speculators have taken the Davros box set as evidence that he’s coming back in S4. I have no idea whether he is. I commissioned this box set back when the news broke that Rose was leaving! I didn’t even know about the Master back then. It is a can of worms to start to integrate the two schedules. Best keep them apart. And anyway, there’s no hurry. Once a monster gets into the public psyche, it’ll stay there for a while!” January 5, 2009 at 6:28 pm in reply to: The Spoilery Doctor Who Thread (The Next Doctor / Matt Smith casting) #88401 JamesTCParticipant “We don’t have any insider knowledge – had I known the master was returning I would have called New Beginnings “Return of the Master” and put it out when series 3 was on air!”, that is Matthew Parkes from 2E, it is taken from a topic called connections in the 2E section of DWO, page 13 if you want to check, you need an account on there, its free to make one.
