So I am angry that the episodes are 4 minutes shorter than usual and that the DVDs will not present the shorter original versions but present an xtended version.

Ok, I’m sorry. I have not seen a script, just a poster from years ago depicting Red Dwarf blowing up.
I wonder if the film script will ever get released as a book some day, I doubt a film will be made now, now the specials are coming I can lose all hope of the film.

Well I heard that the Red Dwarf Movie was a new start like the books, it would need to establish characters and they would have to pick up Kryten. I was not very happy about the new start, I prefer continuing the story instead of starting another.

Enjoy ‘The Sea Devils’, it is easily my favourite Master story. The Sea Devils are a fantastic villain too, far better than the Silurians if you ask me. Now to ‘State of Decay’!

Well ‘Backwards’ is more like three books in one, you have the ‘Backwards’ part of it, the alternative universe with Ace and the aganoids section. The backwards segmant was only a third of the book in the end, maybe a little more.
I always thought the Red Dwarf film was a mix of ‘Infinity Welcomes Careful Drivers’ and the later part of ‘Backwards’ with the aganoids. Establish the setting and get Kryten on board then fight some simulants.

Yes put the synopsis of the Film is very similar to the latter part of ‘Backwards’, rogue simulants attack the last known human ship, Red Dwarf.

Wasn’t the Red Dwarf Film part based on ‘Backwards’, I’m sure it was set to include simulants. For me ‘Backwards’ is a bit confusing, it keeps veering of onto other directions and dimensions! In the end it is rewarding to keep reading though.

I prefer listining to the audios really. Chris Barrie brings the first two books to life. Craig Charles has a much harder job with the slobbering GELF filled ‘Last Human’ but still does a fantastic job. Rob Grant does a weird Ace Rimmer.

Try ‘Infinity Welcomes Careful Drivers’ next, it is closer to the TV show than any other, atleast the first few chapters. The last chapter though unlike Red Dwarf is bloody brilliant, I loved every bit of that book.

My favourite is ‘Infinity Welcomes Careful Drivers’ with ‘Backwards’ in second and ‘Better Than Life’ in third, ‘Last Human’ is in last, not to say I don’t like ‘Last Human’, I love it. All four books are brilliant and live up to the series.

250,000 for a repeat of a show made upwards of ten years ago is pretty good if you ask me. I think 1.5 million seems a good figure for the Red Dwarf specials, atleast the first one.

I had a dream that Red Dwarf IX started and I missed the start, upon watching I can remember the Cat, Lister, Kryten, Rimmer and Kochanski in full canaries outfit in an elevator, thats it. By any measure it is a good dream though.

Not saying it does, I just like everything neat and explained, I even worked out how the 8th Doctor is half human and the rest of them arn’t.

I think I can explain this –

The show wanted to leave the science territory of Series V and VI to a lesser extent. Kryten summed it up really, “Garbled, confusing and quite franky duller than an inflight magazine by air Belgium.”

I know my theories are becoming more and more crazy and outlandish.

I don’t think ‘Duct Soup’ dragged on, infact I think the X-tended version was much better. I liked it because it was more of a character study than a plotted piece which is good now and again for TV shows.

I have seen ‘The Happiness Patrol’ and I think it is a little underrated, not a classic story but a fun one, a story with a big sweety monster has to be good though.

Which means I will not be watching that on original broadcast, I will probably watch one of the new Red Dwarf specials several times while its on. When I do get around to watching it I will be doing something else at the same time so I can ignore Lee Evans while he is on screen.

At the start of Series VII time was reversed to the point before the paradox with the crews future selves were fought giving the gang the oppurtunity to not become their future selves.
If this applied to ‘Tikka to Ride’ then when they pushed Oswald out of the window time should have returned to the point before they pushed him out of the window so they can avoid pushing him out of the window and christmas can be saved!
