December 27, 2012 at 5:21 am in reply to: Gerry Anderson. #205503 genericnerdyusernameParticipant Oh really? I loved it, thought it was funny, but then again the last time I watched it I was in my teens… I’ll watch it again in the morning to see if its still funny to me. I’m pretty sure it will be, there’s this one bit with the line “dang, I missed him” which I remember clearly and it’s hilarious in context. December 27, 2012 at 3:38 am in reply to: Admittedly shameless Christmas pimpery #205499 genericnerdyusernameParticipant There was one where Principal Skinner was tricked into taking all the delinquent students into town while there were inspectors at the school. There was a funny line in that one. I don’t think the Simpsons is particularly AWFUL now, I just think it’s a significantly different show. If I’m in the right mood for a latter-day episode, I can enjoy it, as long as its none of the ones mentioned above… Bottom line for me, I guess, is that I can enjoy anything if I really, really want to. I can even get a kick out of reading Pecospete’s posts on here. That’s how brilliant I am, in a nutshell. December 27, 2012 at 3:32 am in reply to: PECOSPETE'S JOURNEY ACROSS AMERICA #205498 genericnerdyusernameParticipant I was once saved from drowning by a gorgeous lifeguard who I made love to in nineteen different positions. I’M NOT LYING. December 27, 2012 at 3:31 am in reply to: Gerry Anderson. #205497 genericnerdyusernameParticipant >Wasn’t there an X rated Thunderbirds? That was Team America: World Police… December 26, 2012 at 10:14 am in reply to: Admittedly shameless Christmas pimpery #205486 genericnerdyusernameParticipant Oh yeah, that one too. I think I read that that plotline was going to be used for the movie at some point. Thank God they didn’t go for it. December 26, 2012 at 2:55 am in reply to: Chrerry Mistmas #205484 genericnerdyusernameParticipant Merry Christmas to you all! December 26, 2012 at 2:55 am in reply to: Admittedly shameless Christmas pimpery #205483 genericnerdyusernameParticipant The worst Simpsons episode in the history of the show is Sunday Cruddy Sunday, AKA the one with Rupert Murdoch. December 24, 2012 at 4:47 pm in reply to: WOT – Home sweet home #205462 genericnerdyusernameParticipant >A mind is a terrible thing to wast! Lol’d. December 24, 2012 at 12:48 pm in reply to: WOT – Home sweet home #205454 genericnerdyusernameParticipant WELL I HAVE A BIGGER PENIS THAN YOU. December 23, 2012 at 5:27 pm in reply to: Admittedly shameless Christmas pimpery #205444 genericnerdyusernameParticipant He has a horrible laugh and is very arrogant. I’m not sure which is the bigger problem I have with him. December 22, 2012 at 7:09 pm in reply to: Admittedly shameless Christmas pimpery #205423 genericnerdyusernameParticipant I like David Brent as a person, though. He’s adorable. December 22, 2012 at 1:12 am in reply to: Admittedly shameless Christmas pimpery #205398 genericnerdyusernameParticipant The only bit I saw of Life’s Too Short was the Liam Neeson part, and I thought that was pretty hilarious. December 22, 2012 at 1:10 am in reply to: DEAR GANYMEDE & TITAN COMMUNITY #205397 genericnerdyusernameParticipant As long as you have Yorkshire Puddings as a side dish, I’m happy with your choices. December 21, 2012 at 5:47 pm in reply to: Admittedly shameless Christmas pimpery #205391 genericnerdyusernameParticipant The way your exposition intertwines seamlessly with your insult is staggeringly beautiful. December 18, 2012 at 12:29 am in reply to: Christmas Specials/Films? #205297 genericnerdyusernameParticipant >BBC2 showed an animated version of Gary Larson’s The Far Side one Christmas. I remember it being amazing and watched it all over Christmas 95. After that it… fell off. I’ll hunt for that later. I have that on video! It’s brilliant. December 17, 2012 at 2:56 pm in reply to: Admittedly shameless Christmas pimpery #205265 genericnerdyusernameParticipant I went off Gervais a while ago but yeah The Office is pretty spectacular. I didn’t like the second series of Extras that much, but it wasn’t bad. I can take cringe-comedy but not CONSTANTLY. I haven’t seen the US Office but my friend Paul says its great, as long as you don’t look for the same sort of show. >Garveris has two canine teeth What happened to the other two? December 17, 2012 at 7:26 am in reply to: CITV's 'Old Skool Weekend' #205246 genericnerdyusernameParticipant >I love you genericnerdyusername! I love you too, HelloMabel! I got the back catalogue of Neil Innes’ available works off iTunes and I’ve started mixing various tracks up with Viv Stanshall’s solo work and I pretend to myself that these playlists are new Bonzo albums. Good time well spent, imo. December 17, 2012 at 7:24 am in reply to: A NEW LOW in AMERICAN TELEVISION #205245 genericnerdyusernameParticipant >The good news, if any can be gleaned from all this, is I hadn’t heard about the Westboro protest and none of my family had either. Looks like many media outlets are choosing not to give them any attention, at least so far. My parents had no idea who they are when I was venting and gesticulating about it. So yes. December 17, 2012 at 7:22 am in reply to: A NEW LOW in AMERICAN TELEVISION #205244 genericnerdyusernameParticipant >Oh my God, it’s Viv Stanshall! I spent all of last night listening to Sir Henry at Rawlinson End from the Peel Sessions. Then I spent dawn finishing off Doctor Who: Dark Eyes. See, sleepless nights can be productive! :D December 17, 2012 at 12:47 am in reply to: Christmas Specials/Films? #205233 genericnerdyusernameParticipant Oh yeah and Doctor Who. December 17, 2012 at 12:45 am in reply to: CITV's 'Old Skool Weekend' #205232 genericnerdyusernameParticipant I had no idea it existed. Looking it up now and YES. December 16, 2012 at 11:03 pm in reply to: CITV's 'Old Skool Weekend' #205226 genericnerdyusernameParticipant Can’t get enough of Neil Innes, so I’m looking forward to the Raggy Dolls the most (at the moment). December 16, 2012 at 8:19 pm in reply to: Tikka to Ride – Pronunciation? #205218 genericnerdyusernameParticipant >In what way? Yes, Cappsy, Ian, Seb and I all currently live in London but none of us are actually from London. I think I misunderstood what was being said. I thought the “London thing” was pronouncing tikka “ticka” when referring to the curry. What I meant was that I think I know the only person who does that, and it made me think that other people do it too. December 16, 2012 at 8:16 pm in reply to: Christmas Specials/Films? #205217 genericnerdyusernameParticipant Oh yes and A Christmas Story! “You’ll shoot your eye out!” Classic film. December 16, 2012 at 8:16 pm in reply to: Christmas Specials/Films? #205216 genericnerdyusernameParticipant Scrooged, National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, George C. Scott’s A Christmas Carol…I’ll add more as they occur to me. December 16, 2012 at 5:09 pm in reply to: Tikka to Ride – Pronunciation? #205211 genericnerdyusernameParticipant Probably a London thing. Or maybe I just assumed from the one person I talk to about Red Dwarf in person who pronounces the episode “ticka” to ride. December 14, 2012 at 4:37 pm in reply to: Wizards Vs Aliens #205104 genericnerdyusernameParticipant What did it steal from LOTR and Harry Potter? I haven’t seen it so I’m not making a point, I’m just wondering. December 13, 2012 at 9:03 pm in reply to: PLOTS FOR SERIES 11 #205069 genericnerdyusernameParticipant I choose No Dibbley. December 13, 2012 at 8:27 pm in reply to: Please NO! #205067 genericnerdyusernameParticipant >I can’t remember who said it here, but the quote “He has a foot for a face” has stuck with me. I laugh every time I think of it. YOU’RE WELCOME! :D December 13, 2012 at 7:01 pm in reply to: reintergrating Kochanski #205062 genericnerdyusernameParticipant I’m fat and I’m ridiculously funny. So there. December 13, 2012 at 3:23 am in reply to: reintergrating Kochanski #205051 genericnerdyusernameParticipant It’s just now I realised this thread is “reintegrating Kochanski”. I was convinced before that it was “regenerating Kochanski”. Which would fit just as well, really. December 11, 2012 at 2:18 pm in reply to: Tikka to Ride – Pronunciation? #205001 genericnerdyusernameParticipant There was only two back then, tbf. December 11, 2012 at 12:50 am in reply to: Tikka to Ride – Pronunciation? #204978 genericnerdyusernameParticipant Well it is a reference to the curry. I guess it just depends on where you come from. Tick-ka is how some people pronounce the curry. December 10, 2012 at 11:35 pm in reply to: PECOSPETE'S JOURNEY ACROSS AMERICA #204975 genericnerdyusernameParticipant International House of Prayer? An evangelical Christian who loves Red Dwarf? What the hell? …It is possible you meant you meant pancakes. Uh, I’ll be going now. December 10, 2012 at 10:38 pm in reply to: Christmas Compilations? #204973 genericnerdyusernameParticipant I really enjoyed that article, though I have to admit I love most of Infidels and Street Legal (I know the production is muddied to hell, but Changing of the Guards I love wholeheartedly). But to get back to the Christmas motif, here’s a song by a band that was overrated at first, then became underrated, and is now an almost entirely different band. Hate all you want, but they were brilliant in their prime. December 10, 2012 at 10:21 pm in reply to: PECOSPETE'S JOURNEY ACROSS AMERICA #204971 genericnerdyusernameParticipant > The Indians are in India But Oklahoma is a bit Indian-y, so we’ll let him have that one. December 10, 2012 at 10:17 pm in reply to: Christmas Compilations? #204970 genericnerdyusernameParticipant I can hear “Duquesne Whistle” blowing out the stereo upstairs. I love the whole of Tempest, but that first track is my current favourite. Just to prove my cred when it comes to Bob Dylan :D December 10, 2012 at 2:53 pm in reply to: Christmas Compilations? #204956 genericnerdyusernameParticipant You better not be joking, Phil, coz I’m 100% in agreement. December 10, 2012 at 11:11 am in reply to: Christmas Compilations? #204939 genericnerdyusernameParticipant Oh I’m not saying he isn’t a musical genius, I’m just saying he needs a better sense of humour ;) I haven’t heard enough of the actual music to make any assumptions, really. December 10, 2012 at 2:32 am in reply to: The Red Dwarf Text Adventure Game: Anyone here have it? #204937 genericnerdyusernameParticipant >Take the express lift to floor 15, then crawl through the ventilation shaft 27b. You’ll need to grab an oxy-generation unit to cope with the coridoor where the asteroid has hit and punctured a hole in the wall. Sounds A LOT like Mission Critical. Good game that, too. December 9, 2012 at 5:55 pm in reply to: Christmas Compilations? #204932 genericnerdyusernameParticipant I love you, Mr Patrick. December 9, 2012 at 12:12 pm in reply to: Christmas Compilations? #204930 genericnerdyusernameParticipant Hmmm, I don’t listen to Smashing Pumpkins because of the way Bill Corgan took Pavement’s song “Range Life” very personally when it jokingly called out SP, and he’s kicked up a fuss about Pavement and Malkmus at every opportunity, refusing to play unless they get dropped from the same festivals as them, insulting them in the press, that sort of thing. Stephen Malkmus has always been good about it, said it was just a joke and he didn’t mean any harm, and that he still likes Smashing Pumpkins. It puts me off bands altogether when their members act the same way as Corgan has. December 9, 2012 at 6:37 am in reply to: Christmas Compilations? #204925 genericnerdyusernameParticipant Hmm, maybe I cam across it on tumblr or reddit, or somewhere like that. Still, I like it :) December 9, 2012 at 4:54 am in reply to: Christmas Compilations? #204923 genericnerdyusernameParticipant Swear I’ve seen that before, very recently? December 8, 2012 at 1:58 pm in reply to: Jons mad movie #204918 genericnerdyusernameParticipant I love Madness and am also looking forward to seeing this! December 7, 2012 at 10:49 am in reply to: Christmas Compilations? #204907 genericnerdyusernameParticipant They Might Be Giants – Feast of Lights Coz you can never have enough of the Johns in your life. December 6, 2012 at 2:31 pm in reply to: Christmas Compilations? #204891 genericnerdyusernameParticipant I love Fountains of Wayne but had no idea “I Want an Alien for Christmas” existed. THANK YOU. December 6, 2012 at 2:27 pm in reply to: I didn't come here looking for trouble / I just came to do the Red Dwarf Shuffle #204890 genericnerdyusernameParticipant It’s that way with Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks’ albums too, in general. They pan everything after Pavement and say that he’s just returning to form on whichever album they’re reviewing. I assumed it was that way with everything, I just read a review of a SM&tJ album today is the reason I use that as my example. December 5, 2012 at 3:56 pm in reply to: Christmas Compilations? #204863 genericnerdyusernameParticipant Ted Nugent is a racist cunt. Other than that, I love your mix!
