    >I?ve changed the music of the montage when Carbug is making it?s way to Coronation Street.

That’s exactly the music I was thinking, Danny. It works, but I do really like the track in BtE, too.

…If they’d had the money/time, maybe they could’ve gone for a heavy metal Corrie theme. ;-)

Yeah, the lyric ‘I’m the magnificent’ appears in the track. Probably why they got it confused with Special Ed.

    >I remember Duct Soup ending on BBC2 with Lister?s promise to introduce Kryten to a ?red hot brandy?.

Tell me about it. If I recall, one of the Star Trek: Voyager subs back in the day read, “Engage manoeuvre, on mega tree”.

Yep. Subtitles definately say ?I?m The Magnificent? by Special Ed.

    Any idea why?

Hang on, it’s coming up in a minute. I’ll double-check the subtitles.

According to the subtitles, it’s ?I?m The Magnificent? by Special Ed. I think.

Hopefully, the TOS Music Library list will be updated for BtE too. Personally, I dug the dimension cutting track.

    >If we don?t get a die-cast Carbug, I shall honestly CRY.

Just in case we don’t, I’ve seen a couple of green Smart toy cars on eBay. Stick a couple of fins on the top, some eurostile extended decals on the side and Bob’s your skutter.

So, are we getting any of this stuff, Andrew? I see the Carbug model has black trim, so is probably a custom model in itself, but even still…

Also, why does that Sevans Kryten have an orange dot on his monitor?

    >Surely that should be Carbug instead of Starbug?

Ah, man! I almost said a foam Kryten mask when asked earlier, and there was one in the comic shop. Oh, well. Still want one. :-)

    >An original shaped Red Dwarf ship, in a descent scale!

Great idea. Like a replica of Hollister’s ‘paper weight’ from The End complete with glass dome?

…Or what about my very own, personal Gaspazcho Soup bowl?

Here’s the shirt again for anyone who missed it:

A die cast Carbug would be great!

It’s unlikely, but I’d love a companion CD with the music. A Rimmer’s ‘H’ through the years display, perhaps?

    >the Alien franchise ain?t really the place for primitive satire and self-referential nods.

Well, one thing the Alien franchise was certainly built around is change. Whedon’s Resurrection was in parts, vastly different to what had come before, whilst still in keeping with the basic elements that made the previous installments so compelling – not to mention, furthering the notions of family and motherhood to increasingly bizarre new levels.

Overall, I still think the script had potential. The biggest issue, I think, with that film is the execution of the material. Granted, a script may be the foundation from which any movie is based, but in the right hands, I’m confident they’d have been on to a real winner.

The ? draft script for Resurrection I’ve got is amazing. The story was so clearly defined, and the ending far superior. Shame those involved in making the film didn’t read it.

    >still you have to say a nine disc set for ?13, not that bad.

Agreed. And for a truly fantastic DVD set too. Just unfortunate that The Making of Alien? was (allegedly) cut so heavily by The Powers That Be (30 mins or so). Even the title was different – I believe it was originally to be called “Rape and Wreckage”.

On the subject of recent mentions of Dwarf in the media, during the teaser for next week’s ep of ‘The Hottest Place on Earth’ on BBC 1, just as one of the geologists is lowered into an active volcano, he says ‘smoke me a kipper, I’ll be back for breakfast’… :-))

    >The series one and two ones model sequences are the same as each other. The III, IV and V ones are the same as each other. The VI and VII ones are the same as each other. Only VIII is unique.

Right. My point is, with the exception of VII, the model intros are all kinda series-specific. Granted, the Starbug interiors (fantastic, BTW) are different, but no VII model shots were used. Why? The snow planet sequence looked great!

    Hey, Carl.

Yeah, you can sometimes get hold of a cheap copy Ulead (very good, BTW) from time to time – I got my first copy from an Aldi supermarket in one of the Bargain Buckets. No joke.

I’ve never used Vegas, but have heard good things from people who have.

Personally, I use Pinnacle most of the time. It’s mostly reliable, but sometimes I have trouble with audio clicks/volume issues when uploading to Youtube.

The biggest prob I’ve found in my experience, is the higher quality clip you want in the end, the more a monster of a computer you need to begin with. In the past, it’s not really mattered which software I’ve used, the computer’s still annoyingly crashed halfway through an edit..!

There’s not many differences between WMM and other suites. For me, the main difference is precision, and that really only comes with experience.

    Hope this helps!

This little beauty plays all kinds of point and click titles, provided you own a copy of the original game. STS even has a remixed MIDI soundtrack available for download!

BTW – Another great title: Beneath a Steel Sky – very Blade Runner, for all you Deckard fans out there. The game is now legit shareware – you can download it on the site, too.

    From Wikipedia…

“Chris Suellentrop of Slate wrote “under Scully’s tenure, The Simpsons became, well, a cartoon. […] Episodes that once would have ended with Homer and Marge bicycling into the sunset now end with Homer blowing a tranquilizer dart into Marge’s neck. The show’s still funny, but it hasn’t been touching in years.”

…I’d dispute the ‘still funny’ quote, though. Season Nine was the last great season in my opinion.

I think it’s a hologram of a comet – the kind of thing you used to be able get at places like the science museum.
