The Paul McGann Season 2 that was broadcast on BBC7 a while back was quite poor, ‘Dead London’ was good though. I have heard that the quality started to drop in about 2006. Then again I have heard that the Charlie/Sixth Doctor story is very good too, I will eventually get round to them.

    >I know, I?m just taking the piss out of referring to audio stories in exactly the same context as TV stories, when due to the BBC?s own charter, they actually can?t ever be declared in any way canonical, and thus should be distinguished and kept separate when discussing TV stories.

BBC Worldwide announced in 1999 that the audios were canon, of course no Who was on TV at the time so it didn’t really matter.
I talk of the audios in the same manner as the TV shows because really they are just as good if not better, the restrictions of the format bring out the best in the writers.

    >And yes Jubilee is very good as well, always fun to hear Martin Jarvis hamming it up.

I’d go so far as to say it is the best audio, the best Dalek story too, only ‘The Tomb of the Cybermen’ is higher in my estimation than ‘Jubilee’.

    >For those unfamiliar it was used as the basis for ?Dalek? in 2005.

Also RTD must have been a real fan of the story because he used “Jubilee” as the name of the pizza place in Torchwood, I think a pizza box with it on also appeared in ‘Dalek’.

    >Though I?m far from having listened to the whole catalogue with about 30-40 of the main range missing

I think I have heard about 50 of them and i haven’t heard any rescent stories though I might sign up for a subscription to the Colin Baker line of stories coming soon, The Lost Stories.

Season 23b and Season 26b or c or whatever. In short they were audios.

I just loved Paul McGann as the bad guy, and then Lalla Ward as the bad guy! It was very long, I would go so far as to say too long with the lead up story ‘Neverland’ on it too but it was still a brilliant story, so fun catching each refrence, oh and it had 4 out of my 5 favourite Doctor appear, 3,6,7 and 8, all that was missing was Troughton, saying that the Pertwee appearance was quite bad, you could hardly hear him or understand him, the audio on Devious was quite good on ‘The War Games’ DVD so I wonder why this was so poor on here.

‘Timecrash’? Bah. it is hardly a story, a scene it is. It is a nice little scene but I don’t hold it anywhere near the other multi-Doctor stories.
‘Zagreus’ is probably the best multi-Doctor story although ‘Jubilee’ could be counted as a multi-Doctor story as that has two Sixth Doctors, if it could be counted as a multi-Doctor story then ‘Jubilee’ is the best one.
‘The Two Doctors’ was a lovely story, filled with dark humour and poor Sontaran costumes as well as a Sontaran leg. If anything it deserves the title of a classic just because it reunites Troughton and Hines, oh and because it has the Sixth Doctor trying to eat a cat, oh and Peri in a very small bikini.
‘The Three Doctors’ was a nice story, I mean you can’t go wrong with the cast, Pertwee, Troughton and Courtney all in a room together, while the plot is a little lacking it is really just device to get the Doctors together, this story also introduces the wonderful villain Omega who goes on to be in two further great stories (yes I do enjoy ‘Acr of Infinity’).

Watched the first 5 minutes, just up until Troughton and Courtney, worth the story alone just for the scenes with them, I especially love the giant UNIT sign out front, very top secret, oh and of course that legendary enemy, the terrible Zodin!!!
I don’t know why I watched it on youtube, I could have stuck one of the 3 versions of it I have on DVD.
I am glad Tom wasn’t involved, it would have felt too packed with him in aswell, I mean they already had to fit in so much, it is a shame that Robert Holmes didn’t write it, his idea sounded wonderful, ‘The Six Doctors’ was the name of Roberts version, he just felt he had too much to stick in so ended up writing the amazing ‘Caves of Androzani’ instead.

I am not a fan of Predator so that is why I don’t want another Alien film, I just want the Aliens, plus I hated how the Predators were made out to sort of be the good guy in AvP.

    >I?m not sure releasing a version that Hughes actively rejected – to the point of having the cut negative material burned – qualifies as a suitable memorial. (Don?t get me wrong, I?d love to see the scenes, it?s just the polar opposite of what the man would have wanted.)

I thought it was the studio that wanted it shorter, I did read that John did own the only copy of the full cut.

If they manage to get the 2 and a half hour version of The Breakfast Club and release it then that would be a wonderful way to remember John Hughes, his best film in its original form.
I just finished The Breakfast Club, it feels long, not that that is a bad thing, I didn’t want it to end.

I was just using it as a loose term for writer. I guess I shouldn’t really, I wouldn’t say that Robert Holmes made ‘The Two Doctors’, I would just say written.

Well I knew he made The Breakfast Club, Weird Science and Home Alone but all these other classic films have never seemed to be mentioned in relation to him, still I only saw the liked of The Breakfast Club, Weird Science and Uncle Buck in the last 3 or 4 years and as you said he was a recluse so maybe that is why.

Dalek Wars has a release date confirmed, October 5th with an RRP of ?34.99, I think Levine thought it was because of his ranting that it ot put back, it was actually put back after Torchwood had its release moved back.
Not long till coloured Pertwee, can’t wait to see how it looks.

    >4. Alien (Nope.)
You can get the 9 disc quadrilogy for just over ?10 at the moment, well worth it.

    >7. The Terminator (Not seen that either – I?m surprised myself.)
You haven’t seen the Terminator films? Go out and buy 1 and 2 now, don’t buy 3 and Salvation, shit.

Terminator 2 is miles better than Terminator 1, infact Terminator 2 is miles better than any other film on that list.

He was saying 2|E were crazy for releasing Dalek Wars after christmas, I reminded him that the date of after christmas is not confirmed yet and that going by the BBFC date of extras being put up to date of release seen in that past an october release is much more likely. He was basically having a go at 2|E for the sake of having a go.

    >But nothing excuses him floating across the room, NOTHING.

While the floating angel was just stupid it had a reason, the Masters worst fear is the Doctor towering over him like that, well second worst fear, death is first. My real problem is how he turned into the angel, everyone on earth thinking “Doctor” at the same time was just, hmm, I can’t even describe or compare it to anything, it was just naff, plus you know how did Martha tell everyone aroung the word in 300 odd days about the Doctor. Still I liked the cliffhanger at the end, shame about the actual episode that followed not including the wonderful ‘Time Crash’ of course.

I though ‘The Sound of Drums’ was ok, ‘Utopia’ was just bloody amazing though. As for ‘Last of the Time Lords’ well atleast it wasn’t as bad as ‘Time and the Rani’ and ‘The Twin Dilemma’, I’d put it on par with ‘Power of the Kroll’ at how much I don’t like it.
