This has been so depressingly common since the pandemic. And in my kinder moments I do give some people the benefit of the doubt about this stuff. When presented with TERF talking points, shorn of context and taken at face value, it must be easy to get started with it. “What’s that, beloved author JK Rowling is getting death threats? Of course I’ll sign a letter supporting her!” / “They’re doing WHAT in changing rooms? Well that doesn’t sound good, I’ll be retweeting this for sure” and so on until you’re willingly inviting Lawrence Fox’s rat bastard face into your daily timeline. The big issue is that there are a hell of lot of people that have been widely regarded as reliable, nice people putting this bile out there and it’s legitimised the whole movement, making it much easier for people to join in.

However, there comes a point where you have to start judging people for not realising what they’re putting their name to and getting the hell away from it. If not for basic human compassion but for the fact that you’re standing next to an actual Nazi.

Rob’s follows are a bit off-putting but I do tend to think that people are complicated beings and your online social media profile isn’t everything. Rob is not only the co-creator of Red Dwarf but also in my mind he’s the guy who put so much time and effort into the quarantine commentaries and lockdown theatres and fundraising efforts, all that good stuff that helped us to stop going crazy during covid. So as much as these Twitter follows definitely fall under the heading of “questionable” for me, I’m not going to base my entire opinion of him on it.

Oh, by the by, I noticed an issue with the text editor while making my last post – if you add an HTML Smega-Drive image which has quotes in its caption into code view, when switching code view off the text editor changes every word in the caption after the ones in quotes (in the alt text) to attributes, which get discarded when you submit. So the alt text gets cut off.

This is commitment to QA.

Was there ever any decision on keeping gif autoplay off by default on this site? Not sure if there’s an easy way to do it on my end on mobile. I think one reason Sonic 2 takes the ‘best Sonic game’ crown over 3&K because it’s a coherent, whole, game and I think the combined 3&K is overly long and has a couple of deeply rubbish zones.

Because it’s a setting in your G&T account, it will only apply dark mode when you’re logged in. So if you use dark mode and you see the site revert to light mode, you know it’s because you’ve been logged out.

Dark mode will also automatically turn on if your OS / browser is set to such, regardless of your logged in status. How deeply embarrassing for you!
