I maintain that the controls for the penalty shootout have never been topped in a football game since.

Hah, you losers with your 2 in 1 cartridges. I was rocking this 6 in 1 bad boy. Can’t remember if it came in a box with the console, or loose with it. Certainly don’t have the box now if there was one.

To treat them? Legion is back in existence at last and wants the best meal he can serve. And maybe also a tiny bit to fuck with them.

That was a banger of an episode! Probably my favourite of the series so far, actually. I’m embarrassed to admit how long it took me to realise the theme was racism. The early seeds all had other non-racist interpretations I took, as alluded to be cwickham. There were plausible alternatives. Even her calling the Doctor stupid I just thought was her being a horrible, snooty person; she called Ruby dumb multiple times too. And I first I (stupidly) didn’t understand why they wouldn’t go with him. I thought maybe because they’re snooty rich kids and he’s not, or they’re just really dumb, but it eventually dawned on me that it was because he is black. And looking back throughout the episode, it’s obvious now. So I commend the episode for walking a perfect line between giving plenty of hints, without blatantly bashing us over the head with it. Superb stuff!

I’m also absolutely loving the new theme. The boosted bassline is terrific, especially in the Devil’s Chord opening.

Loved Devil’s Chord, apart from the last 5 mins. Space Babies was alright.

I’m feeling the same for a few reasons. I’m concerned with RTD rebooting certain aspects of the show. It’s difficult to feel excited when they’re intentionally changing histories of characters.
Wait, what aspects is he rebooting, other than the series numbering? (Not to say that isn’t stupid. “Season 1” is some blatant Doug Naylor-esque fuckery.)

Stuff like Davros no longer being in his travel machine for example. Although so far that was just in the Comic Relief sketch. If it stays that way, then I don’t mind. And I’m really split (lol) on the bi-generation thing. On one hand it’s cool that Tennant’s Doctor gets to stick around, on the other, it kinda feels like Ncuti isn’t the Doctor, but a clone. A little, anyway. And I personally would have preferred RTD to just ignore some of the 13th Doctor’s era’s rubbish, instead of making it canon. But like I said, I’m trying to keep an open mind. I originally hated the Smith and Capaldi eras because of change (I was a stupid kid), but I absolutely adore them now.

Twice Upon A Time is an absolute emotional banger, and I refuse to hear otherwise.

For some reason, I’ve not been as excited about the upcoming season as I really want to be. Maybe it’s just because I didn’t really think the Christmas special was anywhere near the highs of the 60th Specials, but I’m not even reading DWM the same as I normally do – the last couple of months, its been a few pages, then the rest has had a cursory glance and left largely unread.
Didn’t mind about the simultaneous premiere as it was announced, but then the realisation that everyone else was going to be able to watch at a comfortable afternoon/evening time hit me, and that we were going to lose the immediacy of everyone Tweeting about the same thing at the same (reasonable) time that the live TV premieres I rushed home from work for back in October always brought.
So given all that, I’ve got ti say that, for me, the return of Moffat us actually the most exciting news Who-wise for quite a little while, something I’m properly looking forward to. And another great writer that poor Jodie missed out on.

I’m feeling the same for a few reasons. I’m concerned with RTD rebooting certain aspects of the show. It’s difficult to feel excited when they’re intentionally changing histories of characters. Like what’s the point of watching if you’ll just reboot it in the future? It’s not the same show anymore. I also thought the Christmas special was quite “meh”, but I’m trying to keep an open mind. Maybe it’s the advertising for the new series? It feels off, but difficult to exlpain why. It’s very overly bombastic and faux positive. Too movie-like? Sorta fake, “we’re going on an adventure!!!!!!!” Hollywood advertising. I’m hoping the actual series is more down to earth with the acting.

EDIT: I am excited about Moffat returning, however. He’s Doctor Who’s best writer by far.

All the kind of “time being rewritten to remove the paradox” things really feel like there’s a suggestion of intent, like… something is rewriting things. Anything with that power would have to be considered some kind of God and not of Earth origin… Red Dwarf aliens confirmed?

Well the universe is sentient in Red Dwarf land. Maybe it’s the universe itself that’s rewriting things to try and stop Lister from destroying all of goddamn creation. Perhaps Rimmer was put on Red Dwarf by the universe as an agent to stop Lister from killing everyone.

    MUTTON VINDALOO BEAST
Lister meets a lovely curry made from Meep The Sheep, and immediately warms to it – only for the exotic meal to reveal itself as a surprise villain by the end of the episode. Meanwhile, another character grapples with the difficulties of transitioning to a new identity.

Also starring new cute Red Dwarf mascot, Smeg The BEGG.

Chess.com had a Megan bot you could play to promote the film. It was pretty funny iirc. I know nothing about the film tho

I saw bits of it on another person’s screen on a flight once. Seemed like AI going insane and killing people.

Post-regeneration weirdness is completely absent, but it’s been rightly pointed out that if you only have three episodes with Tennant you probably don’t want to waste your time going through certain expected motions.

Maybe they covered that in the Liberation of the Dalek comic strip that’s been in Doctor Who Magazine recently? It’s meant to be 14’s first adventure.

It just therefore confused me a bit that the ending message seemed to be, “lol male-presenting people are stoopeed and lesser than us superior women who can let go.” Unless I’m completely misunderstanding, it was a bit odd for an episode to spend its entire runtime saying everyone is equal, to then imply women are better at the end.
I think it was just a cheeky joke, and not meant to be taken as seriously as lots of people seem to have taken it.

Oh I absolutely believe it was. It just stuck out, given the context of the wider episode. I’m not annoyed by it at all. Just seemed odd.

I really liked most of the episode. Meep was great, Tennant was great, Tate was great. I must admit to being a little confused by the resolution though. The whole episode is brilliant for inclusion of all people. Disabled, trans, cis, religious, etc. Everyone. It goes out of its way to be inclusive. And that’s great! That’s absolutely what we should be doing. Apart from that, I loved it. It’s great to have David Tennant and Catherine Tate back for a little bit!

My carer Ella a couple of weeks ago had to explain to the retail worker why she was helping a grown man buy Where’s Wally

Where’s Wally is awesome. I still “read” the books, and I’m almost 30.

Why was Series 8 all about erections, degrading women, and a billion sex jokes, instead of, you know, space?

So how can he live to be the future echo at 171 and die on Red Dwarf in his early 30s?

Easy, they take his remains to Backwards world and bring him and Kochanski back to life.

See I knew it all made sense. Child me was clearly ahead of their time.

When I was younger, I always interpreted the end of Stasis Leak as Future Lister marrying Kochanski, knowing that they would both die in 3 weeks time, but deciding it was worth it. So both their ashes will be around for Holly to identify in The End. Although I’m not sure how much sense this makes.

Actually, even if they did escape, wouldn’t they both be bothered by the fact they know that all their coworkers/friends are about to die? They both seemed pretty chill in that hotel room, as if no one was going to die at all.

Thank you very much for the warm welcomes!!

Ah ha, no need to apologise I’m sure. Nice to meet you, RG.

For the G&T links, you should just be able to copy them directly into the text editor. Not sure what happened there, or where the partial html came from.

For extra confidence, you can instead copy the HTML link, but paste it while in code view (which you switch to by clicking “”), and then switching back to visual mode will show the images before you post, which I personally find more reassuring.

Awesome! Thank you. I’ll give this a go.

Hello Ganymede & Titans peeps. I’ve been a fan of Red Dwarf my whole life. I grew up watching my parents VHS collection. I’ve been lurking for like a year and thought I should probably finally make an account. Please accept these random Smega Drive stills as an offering.

EDIT: Hang on. I’ve clearly done something wrong with the embedding. I tried copying the “G&T” link on the Smega Drive page. I’m not sure what I’ve done wrong. Sorry for the awful first impression I’m making.
