I had the great thing of not knowing who was Doctor 10 before ‘Parting of the Ways’ aired, I really only watched the classic series up until the end of Series 1 when I caught the end of ‘Fathers Day’. When it came to the regeneration I didn’t know it was happening and who popped on screen? It was bloody casanova. May 7, 2009 at 1:19 pm in reply to: Marleen’s NO SPOILERS Doctor Who Thread – Part III #98602 JamesTCParticipant I will end up watching ‘Nightmare on Eden’, I think it is part of a 3 pack DVD for release at the start of 2010 so I will watch it then. May 7, 2009 at 6:29 am in reply to: Twats #98579 JamesTCParticipant > He?s just a bit weird? That?s it. Well I would say Tom Baker was too. I mean I look forward to seeing Matt as the good Doctor unlike the legions of people blaming the BBC for his casting and saying Moffat is a BBC puppet, one thing I don’t understand with all these people is that they have not seen a single frame of him as the Doctor. Anyway I have never seen Star Gate so I will just go and watch an interview to see what it is like. May 7, 2009 at 6:23 am in reply to: Marleen’s NO SPOILERS Doctor Who Thread – Part III #98578 JamesTCParticipant Not seen ‘Nightmare of Eden’, its meant to be bad anyway. May 6, 2009 at 11:14 pm in reply to: Marleen’s NO SPOILERS Doctor Who Thread – Part III #98568 JamesTCParticipant I’d rather have a slow pace than a fast pace to be fair, sometimes the new series stuff is gone as fast as it came. Same with 2-parters in the classic series, I want more! I find the 2-parters of the new series or the 4-parters of the classic to be the optimum length, I mean most of my favourite stories are 4-parters, ‘The Tomb of the Cybermen’, ‘Jubilee’, ‘The Empty Child’/’The Doctor Dances’ and ‘Medicinal Purposes’ May 6, 2009 at 11:03 pm in reply to: Marleen’s NO SPOILERS Doctor Who Thread – Part III #98566 JamesTCParticipant ‘The Web Planet’ is an odd one for me, I could not watch it from start to finish like I can with most stories, it is too boring in one big run but at 2 episodes a week it is a wonderful story, for some reason spreading it out and letting it sink in helps the story. May 6, 2009 at 10:40 pm in reply to: Twats #98564 JamesTCParticipant >He regenerated while I typed that. Matt Smith!!! May 6, 2009 at 10:38 pm in reply to: Marleen’s NO SPOILERS Doctor Who Thread – Part III #98563 JamesTCParticipant I am quite enjoying it actually, the Doctor going back in time meeting his previous incarnations and getting them pissed off. Plus it expands on the end of ‘The Sea Devils’ and ‘State of Decay’. It is really fun while reading it to try and work out which story he is in next, took me ages to realise he was in ‘The War Games’, couldn’t think of a Troughton story with Romans. I am only about half way through but it is enjoyable. I think I will read ‘Lungbarrow’ next because it is meant to have a load of stuff about Time Lords and “The Other”. May 6, 2009 at 9:51 pm in reply to: Marleen’s NO SPOILERS Doctor Who Thread – Part III #98555 JamesTCParticipant I stated reading my first Who book the other day, fucking weird, it was ‘The Eight Doctors’ and it starts with the Doctor saving a girl from a drug dealer and then being arrested because the police believe he was the dealer. Drugs and Who don’t really connect in my brain, I was releived when I got to Romans,Sea Devils and Vampires, back to normal. May 6, 2009 at 9:48 pm in reply to: The completely unnecessary “It’s my birthday!” thread. #98554 JamesTCParticipant Happy Birthday hummingbird! Happy has been Birthday Ben! May 5, 2009 at 6:34 pm in reply to: Irrelevant mention in Gervais’ blog #98503 JamesTCParticipant I ried to watch the Office but it didn’t grip me, I was completely un-smegging gip-ped. I laughed at the stapler in the jelly but outside that I didn’t find much to laugh at, the American Office is a funny show but I wouldn’t go out of my way to watch it, the “Ryan started the fire” song was very funny though. May 3, 2009 at 10:52 pm in reply to: DODGY RED DWARF MERCHANDISE ALERT! #98509 JamesTCParticipant Actually I need to listen to a few, it has been a while. “I’ll take 8” is a Zoidberg quote. May 2, 2009 at 12:18 am in reply to: Public Service Announcement RE: Swine Flu #98449 JamesTCParticipant Everybody knows Swine Flu is a punishment by god for being so sinful, go ahead try and find an anagram of swine flu, what do you get? We Sinful May 1, 2009 at 6:37 pm in reply to: Marleen’s NO SPOILERS Doctor Who Thread – Part III #98431 JamesTCParticipant >>The thing I look for in a Who story is a bloody good script >As long as its not ?about something? Well, yes. ‘The Two Doctors’ is a fantastic story but I couldn’t give a shite about being a vegetarian. May 1, 2009 at 6:26 pm in reply to: I’ve just been reading Better Than Life #98430 JamesTCParticipant I think Rimmer was just having fun teasing Lister about his death and he was actually rather worried about it, or subconsciously Rimmer knew that it wasn’t Lister who he saw die. May 1, 2009 at 12:39 pm in reply to: Shadow Hare #98420 JamesTCParticipant I was once saved by Black Arrow, I was tied to the train track and she stopped the train using the power of the mind. May 1, 2009 at 12:34 pm in reply to: Marleen’s NO SPOILERS Doctor Who Thread – Part III #98419 JamesTCParticipant They had a week to do 1 episode so really small was the best they could do. I mean they make 48 episodes a year from 1963-1969. The thing I look for in a Who story is a bloody good script and you can’t say that ‘The Daleks’ failed in that area (though I think it would have benefited being a 6 part story instead). I do on the other hand think ‘Genesis of the Daleks’ works much better as an opening story for the Daleks. April 30, 2009 at 11:50 pm in reply to: Rewatching VII and VIII after Back to Earth, and oh my god… #98404 JamesTCParticipant I re-watch Red Dwarf VII and VIII all the time, just last week I enjoyed an on the move viewing of ‘Krytie TV’, still fantastic after ‘Back to Earth’. April 29, 2009 at 12:25 pm in reply to: Play.com Side Ad #98323 JamesTCParticipant And it will be seen by more people, it will go on every other site probably. April 28, 2009 at 11:57 pm in reply to: Play.com Side Ad #98298 JamesTCParticipant I was just pointing out the fact that it was in the BBC shop plus it has a Kryten video. April 28, 2009 at 11:33 pm in reply to: Play.com Side Ad #98295 JamesTCParticipant Yep, I think it was mentioned in Hollister 35:13 aswell. April 28, 2009 at 11:21 pm in reply to: Play.com Side Ad #98293 JamesTCParticipant Well as God said to Noah “Red Dwarf is fucking amazing, pre-order the new DVD”. I never knew the Bible had some wisdom. April 28, 2009 at 11:19 pm in reply to: Formula 1 #98292 JamesTCParticipant Did you see that ludicrous display last night? I actually said that to someone and they said “I was at that ludicrous display last night”, I was amused. April 28, 2009 at 11:15 pm in reply to: I had a dream…. #98291 JamesTCParticipant I had a dream I got my throat slitted, I just thought “Oh this is the end” and then I woke up struggling to breath, not the best of dreams. April 28, 2009 at 11:13 pm in reply to: DVD Features confirmed by DVDTImes.co.uk #98290 JamesTCParticipant Well it is not Dave being tight asses it is about them only being able to afford a certain amount, I’m sure the budget will come up but they won’t mouth off Dave, they are kind enough to give them ?600,000 for the new episodes besides when we look at what is on screen the low budget did not effect production. April 28, 2009 at 9:49 pm in reply to: Formula 1 #98284 JamesTCParticipant >I don?t think I?d count F1/car racing and sports in general as geeky anyway. The cultural oposite in fact. Despite the fact they are basically the same thing, wear a sports related shirt and people make nothing of it, wear a sci-fi shirt and it is geeky. Not that I have any sci-fi or sports shirts myself, I have Simpsons, Family Guy and South Park shirts but you know, everybody loves Timmy and the Evil Monkey. April 28, 2009 at 9:30 pm in reply to: DVD Features confirmed by DVDTImes.co.uk #98278 JamesTCParticipant >Who said anything about two discs? Everybody! Including the official website – http://reddwarf.co.uk/news/2009/04/24/were-making-the-dvd-now/ I hope it has all the extra promotional videos, things like the PBS videos and the DVD promotional trailers. Oh and the introductions by the cast to each episode. April 27, 2009 at 7:05 am in reply to: Can someone call or Skype me at around 12:30pm BST? #98216 JamesTCParticipant Prediction – 126 Missed Calls. April 26, 2009 at 5:34 pm in reply to: Doctor Whoooooooooooo, hey! Doctor Who! #98185 JamesTCParticipant >The original is a disposable schlocker, the remake is ?about? something. I can see the point but when watching a film about a man turning into a fly I don’t want it to be about something, I just want to be entertained with what is an interesting concept. April 26, 2009 at 11:39 am in reply to: Doctor Whoooooooooooo, hey! Doctor Who! #98172 JamesTCParticipant Well yes they are almost certainly a load of rubbish, just The Sun with a slow news day and an “insider” probably. Moffat has said that he doesn’t want to return enemies in an interview hasn’t he? April 26, 2009 at 11:33 am in reply to: Doctor Whoooooooooooo, hey! Doctor Who! #98170 JamesTCParticipant I liked the original The Fly, just as much as the remake I would say, it has been a while since I saw it though, I still have memories of the end were he is on the spiders web shouting for help. April 26, 2009 at 12:39 am in reply to: Doctor Whoooooooooooo, hey! Doctor Who! #98153 JamesTCParticipant >Yeah, because there?s no original enemies in the whole of new Who? Where did I say there isn’t, they do not have many good ones if you ask me though, the Ood are fantastic and I quite like the Judoon, the Adipose are cute, outside them I can’t think of a good new enemy though I would rather they would try and make a new enemy than use an old one, they seem to be tied to returning old enemies so I just think a good enemy should be returned so you can hit the ground running instead of re-making a character to make it better. >I wasn?t aware it was an either/or deal Neither was I >where this choice – apparently made by intelligent, creative minds – somehow jumped a queue of ?worthier? fictitious beings and took their entitled place at the party. Worthier was a poor choice of words, hmm, more interesting, more popular, scarier for the kiddies, they are reasons to choose an enemy like the Ice Warriors or the Sea Devils over the Rani. Oh and it would just add to the list of things that survived the Time War when 4 years ago the Doctor was the only survivor, I mean 1 Dalek survives, fine, a Dalek ship survived and built an army, ok, a Dalek group hid in the void, oh, The Master survived using a fob watch, eh, Davros survived by being pulled out by a Dalek and built an army, hmm, do you really thing adding “Then the Rani survived” would be good? I think it would make it even more ludicrous every time the Doctor says he is the only one left. >My opinion on remakes is that you?re better off remaking a bad movie than a good one. You are better off making a new film all together. >I just don?t think ?poorly executed by someone else? equals ?is perpetually doomed to failure? Neither do I but if a film was bad you will always go into the sequal thinking it will be bad, atleast that is the case for me. April 25, 2009 at 10:18 pm in reply to: dr who best sci fi theme tune. guess what came 2nd #98149 JamesTCParticipant I liked Vyager (in its early 3-4 Seasons and the later ‘The Doctor’ episodes). It is no DS9, TNG or ENT but it is an enjoyable show. I really like the theme tune, I thought that was generally a well recieved theme. Still I would say TNG and DS9 have more worthy themes than TOS, I find TOS to have an annoying theme, ahh well, atleast it didn’t have lyrics like was originally conceived. April 25, 2009 at 10:13 pm in reply to: Doctor Whoooooooooooo, hey! Doctor Who! #98148 JamesTCParticipant So wait you thing a bland character that was poorly recieved in 3 stories deserves a return when other enemies that are well recieved and are begging for a return are not, rather odd, what about the Sea Devils, what about the Ice Warriors (though I’m not a fan of those), what about the Meddling Monk. Or wait a minute, wait just one minute, how about making up an original enemy, it might just be a crazy idea but it might work. April 25, 2009 at 9:46 pm in reply to: Doctor Whoooooooooooo, hey! Doctor Who! #98145 JamesTCParticipant >absolutely no point in having the Time War at all. Yep, that pretty much sums it up. April 25, 2009 at 7:23 pm in reply to: Top 10 Defenestrations #98133 JamesTCParticipant Angel pushing some vampire out of a window and he burns on the way down in the show Angel, I think it is in the first episode, can’t be sure, been a while. Oh and in The Mask where Stanley (with the mask on) is getting shot at and jumps out the window to fall flat on the ground and call himself road kill. April 25, 2009 at 11:32 am in reply to: HAHAHAHAHAHA #98093 JamesTCParticipant Dangerous Dan Magrew, where have I heard that before? April 25, 2009 at 11:31 am in reply to: HAHAHAHAHAHA #98092 JamesTCParticipant I especially like the dancing train a few minutes in. April 25, 2009 at 12:01 am in reply to: Top 10 Defenestrations #98054 JamesTCParticipant The Doctor on the Horse in ‘Girl in the Fireplace’. April 24, 2009 at 10:34 pm in reply to: dr who best sci fi theme tune. guess what came 2nd #98033 JamesTCParticipant Firefly and Star Trek: Voyager should have been on that list, high up too, but alas they are not. April 24, 2009 at 10:31 pm in reply to: Top 10 Defenestrations #98032 JamesTCParticipant Nathan Barley would have about 3 of them for Episode 6. April 24, 2009 at 10:02 pm in reply to: Doctor Whoooooooooooo, hey! Doctor Who! #98028 JamesTCParticipant Oh it is nothing to do with Kate O’Mara, just bad scripting, I mean in ‘Mark of the Rani’ why the hell was the Master dressed up as a scare crow and how the hell did he know the Doctor would arrive at that specific location. The less said of ‘Time on the Rani’ and ‘Dimensions in Time’ the better. April 24, 2009 at 9:31 pm in reply to: Primeval Got a Movie says site you never heard of #98025 JamesTCParticipant I have never really watched the show outside clips but can someone tell me how they sustain a show about dinsoaurs going through portals for 30 odd episodes now. Episode 1 – Dinosaur arrives. Episode 2 – Another Dinosaur arrives. Episode 3+4 – 2 Dinosaurs arrive. Hmm… By the way what I meant by “Well…” was that a show about dinosaurs has a possibility of a film and Red Dwarf does not, no justice.
