Well since they have said it for Doctor Who so many times they just apply it to every other Sci Fi show. I wonder why people care about the special effects or “wobbly sets”, if the script is good that is enough, only a fucking idiot would care about effects over a good script which sadly many people do today…

    >I would imagine it will be a BBC DVD, as the DVD dept is operated by BBC Worlwide, who I believe were co-producers (or involved on some level) with BtE. Especially as Dave don?t have any kind of DVD arm (to my knowledge, anyway).

Dave are part owned by BBC Worldwide.

I’d say another month before the BBFC confirmation atleast, Doctor Who DVDs get confirmed a month or two before they are out and they are prepared far before Dwarf will be.

Not really, they changed it from the fantastic theme in 2005-2007 to the shit drum thing we have now, I used to look forward to the opening, it is just annoying now.

It would make more sense to call ‘Tikka to Ride’ Out of Time Part 2 since it basically continues straight after.

    Least favourite –
    I – Waiting for God
II – Queeg (and I can’t think of a reason, it is just the least enjoyable)
III – Timeslides (very tough choice)
    IV – Camille
    V – Terrorform
    VI – Psirens
    VII – Ouroborus
    VIII – Pete Part 2
    BTE – Part 1

Maybe Cat kept it in the water tank on Star Bug, when Star Bug crashed on Red Dwarf it was in the other section of the ship which did not blow up, then it found its way into the water system via a broken pipe from the crash, it got into the water tank, Red Dwarf blew up with Rimmer on it as with the Series VIII end and it gets restored by the nanobots but the crew don’t, new Red Dwarf, lovely squid and 9 years to wait for it to grow, now how did the squid get food?

I prefer BTE as a whole to most Red Dwarf stories, not as good as ‘Backwards’, ‘Back to Reality’, ‘Out of Time’ or ‘Meltdown’ but still pretty high up.

The 60 minutes of extras mentioned was just behind the scenes, they have deleted scenes, smeg ups and possibly a documentary too.

    That was a bit crap.
The narration was just an excuse to cut parts essential to the plot out and sometimes you added a narration when they were not needed.
The music was annoying at certain points because you overlayed it against the previous music.
Specifically I hated the scene with Swallow being cut out, not because it is very good because it is one of the lesser scenes but for one you cut out the bus scenes just before which are funny and add to the plot (Kochanski is alive) and the fact that you left in that zoom into picture scene without it serving to the plot, if you wanted to trim it you should have cut the picture zoom scene with the nose world scene.
Oh and what was he point in taking out the Kryten dance and putting it in the end, if you just had Kryten coming in and Lister saying he was back then that scene would not have the amazing appearing Kryten.

You have proved that BtE cannot be made into a 30 minute episode, it barely fits into 70 minutes.

Oh of course a 6 half hour series would be good but I want Doug to write to his strengths, if his strengths are stories like BTE I would rather he written more in that style.

If Doug writes better in this form he could write another 2 three-part stories to make up a Series IX. I would be happy with that.

You think anything weird is aliens, your belt goes missing, “its aliens”, a picture isn’t level on the wall, “its aliens”. That time we used a whole bog roll in a day and I had to dry my arse on a hand dryer, you thought that was aliens as well.

    >This Special was originally going to be a celebration of 21 years of Red Dwarf, yes? I bet if you got a list of every episode, and ticked them off as they were mentioned or referenced in BtE, you?d have ticked most of them?

Hmm, well let us have a look, I’m watching it now so I will add as I watch –
Rimmerworld (Cat mentiones it in Coronation Street)
Out of Time/Tikka to Ride (time drive)
Polymorph (scene played in the background and the snake is mentioned)
    Back to Reality (isn’t obvious)
Balance of Power (can only sustain one hologram stuff and Lister’s face down the window thing)
    Timeslides (mentioned in comic shop)
Marooned (classic car mag stuff, he expressed an intrest in cars in that episode)
Quarantine (Mr Flibble in his mini cameo in the show)
Terrorform (Kryten wearing the arm bands)
Legion (“no way this will work” similar to the end of ‘Legion’ were none of them think it will work)
    Beyond a Joke/Justice (simulant)
Back to Earth (Yes I am counting this, it refrences itself)
Demons and Angels (Die screaming with sharp things in your head)
Most of Series 1 (Mugs Murphy)
Better than Life/ Me2 (videos replacing DVDs)
Future Echoes (Lister’s Dog Hannah being in the mini-bunkroom)
Backwards (Kryten dressing up so as not to look weird)
Gunmen of the Apocalypse (a picture of Rimmer from the episode in the comic shop)
The Inquisitor (a head knocker appears)
Parallel Universe (Holly hop Drive mentioned in comic shop)

    Have I missed any?
