It doesnβt feel like it would add the weight needed, in the right place, to push the arm down. Yes I always think this too. But even before that, it’s obvious that Craig deliberately doesn’t stick the gum to the wall properly. Worst Rube Goldberg machine ever. I used to like the effect though, and in my youth I’d go out with the express purpose of getting pissed. These days I very rarely drink. I just can’t enjoy it in the same way any more and I certainly can’t be doing with the hangovers. It’s partly because of my health anxiety as well if I’m honest. I’ve got it in check these days but I couldn’t pour a glass of wine without hearing that woman’s voice from the advert. “… seven types of cancer, including mouth.” Cheers, everyone! I enjoyed the first series of Ghosts but not enough to watch any more, ditto Big Boys. For recent sketch comedy I can recommend Ellie & Natassia and Jamie Demetriou’s Netflix special A Whole Lifetime. Iβd also make room for the Cunk On Earth/Britain/Life shows as theyβre one of the few series that reliably make me laugh out loud multiple times every episode. I always enjoy those but still think the character was funniest when she was a talking head on the Wipe shows. IN9 Stage/Fright was brilliant. Our special guest was Joe McElderry at the Saturday matinee in Sunderland, and because he’s known for Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Steve took the opportunity to shoehorn in his rendition of “It was red and yellow and green and brown…” etc. that he had to learn for Psychoville. I think they must have done that because Holly was originally going to just be a voiceover. It’s much less jarring than that scene in White Hole, though. Any idea where I would have gotten this from?! It would have been around the time VII aired. I presume maybe the fan club but not sure? I had that too. You might be right about the fan club, or maybe it came with one of the calendars? Anybody else have a mini cardboard cutout standee thing of Rimmer in his Enlightenment uniform? Pretty sure that came with a calendar one year. Just guessed really. May 15, 2026 at 3:39 pm in reply to: BBC Head Of Comedy Is A Red Dwarf Fan. #320361 clemParticipant When he did that AMA in September last year Doug was about to have a meeting about Out of the Red. He also mentioned an idea he’s had for a live thing for the 40th anniversary, so I definitely don’t think he’s done with Red Dwarf. He seems to really enjoy working with the cast and I won’t be surprised if by hook or by crook he manages to get something off the ground. As for novels, he’s mentioned adapting the script for the special he was nearly finished writing when UKTV put the kibosh on it, but he’s also said he didn’t get a response from Penguin when he approached them about a new Red Dwarf book, so who knows? Maybe he’d consider self-publishing, or tweeting the whole novel bit by bit. I suppose if Titan is a big seller he might get more interest. I broadly agree with the criticisms that are usually levelled at it, but none of that stuff ever hinders my enjoyment. It does have less heart than the previous series, but it more than makes up for that in other areas, in a way that I don’t think some of the Dave era manages.
