I’m sure Mike & Angelo got better. Tomorrow’s episode is from 1996.

Got BtE on Blu-ray for Christmas and promised myself I’d finally get around to seeing Blade Runner again before I watch it. Handily, the Final Cut is on BBC2 tomorrow night at 11.30, followed by a making-of documentary.

He was at ours with BBC Look North to promote a charity swim event. Seemed like a nice bloke.

I’m a lifeguard. The most famous person I’ve ever had in my pool, as far as I know anyway, is Duncan Goodhew.

He’s excellent in the Launching Red Dwarf documentary on the series I DVD, but no, not at all like Brannigan.

Challenge are showing Crystal Maze Christmas Specials this week. I like how the kids get the big prize no matter how well they do just because, fuck it, it’s Christmas!

    Got the Sunday off work!

    > Mike & Angelo (especially if it’s the original cast)

IIRC there was a scene in which original Angelo basically regenerated into new Angelo.
I hope it’s an Eric episode of Woof. I’d rather see a later T-Bag though, as I got the first three series DVDs, and I don’t think there are currently any plans to release more, unfortunately.

You could watch the Best Ever Episode introduction by Lister in Santa hat and tinsel, followed by Back to Reality.

    > Meltdown has Father Christmas in it too, of course.

And of course he’s mentioned in Backwards.

Did you enter the competition in the end then Si?

There once was a slob and a cat,
A robot and an utter twat,
    A computer named Holly,
    Rimmer’s blow-up dolly,
Some skutters and a CGI rat.

I think my competition entry was better than those, but not much.

There once was a man with a plan.
He’d planned it – it was his plan.
On a farm he’d breed horses
    With horses and horses
But for Krissie, he’d need a dustpan.

Just yesterday I finally got to see the Batman: The Brave and the Bold episode with NPH as the voice of the Music Meister, and it’s great. He’s brilliant in the Harold and Kumar films as well.

This thread’s reminded me of a bit of one of the DVD documentaries where Bobby Llew talks about the cast mucking about in rehearsals, pretending Starbug’s been hit by a ‘gay ray’ and made the crew behave in a very camp fashion. Anyone remember which DVD that’s on, or how he gets onto the subject?

It’s great that your little brothers are getting into Dwarf, but don’t let them watch the butchered Dave repeats. Show them the DVDs complete with all the bastards, retards and rude gestures – I don’t care if they’re only 8. :-)

    > I did think that, but it could have caused serious repurcussions for Kryten if they did that and Lister is no grass. Rimmer, on the other hand…. I’m surprised he didn’t at least suggest it.

I suppose you could argue they just panicked and didn’t think of that. Characters’ intelligence fluctuating to suit a situation or joke is a bit of a theme in VIII, like how Lister finds a join-the-dots puzzle difficult, and yet knows Morse code or however he’s meant to be communicating with the Skutters by banging on the pipe.

    > I don’t think we’ve ever had a series three shirt

There was a ‘Let’s get out there and twat it’ one iirc.

I like the little moment between Kryten and Lister at the end of The Last Day. Not mad about Rimmer getting blown up in Timeslides, bit too daft.

I think it’s been pretty much forgotten about hasn’t it? Vastly underrated in my opinion. “We’re looking at a shoulder!”
No commentaries on X would be a big shame. Would people prefer a Doug commentary to a cast one? I’d plump for cast as long as there’s plenty of Doug being interesting about his approach to writing and directing the series on other extras like a Making of documentary.

I quite like to think of VIII as the Red Dwarf equivalent to Gene Deitch era Tom and Jerry.

    What he said.

    > What? More superb than Jenny Agutter? I seriously doubt it….***sigh***

More superb than Jenny Agutter in Red Dwarf, yes, although none of them got their minge out like she does in Walkabout.
