March 8, 2026 at 5:26 pm in reply to: Those who left us #317138 MANI506Participant I said at the time but Mike Agnew’s interviews from the early series documentary literally influence the way I speak. February 3, 2026 at 10:32 am in reply to: Jokes you don't/didn't get #316242 MANI506Participant As someone who was 17 and alive in the south of England at the start of 1998 I never heard AH as an abbreviation anywhere and thought it was fairly weak. Nice Harvesters joke although I love Harvesters and recommend the Bhaji Burger. January 20, 2026 at 12:00 pm in reply to: Blake’s 7 reboot possibly on the horizon #315748 MANI506Participant There’s a great long running Paul Darrow bit on the Doctor Who podcast Wheezing Groaning Sound. The joke is that he always says the opposite of what he thinks you expect and then says ‘ha har’. It has had me in nice giggling fits. December 16, 2025 at 12:14 pm in reply to: Red (Dwarf) Herring #314805 MANI506Participant I think AIOTM gave us the phrase ‘cock juggling thunder cunt’ December 11, 2025 at 11:48 am in reply to: Red (Dwarf) Herring #314670 MANI506Participant I was at that one too! My only other one was Peter Baynham two years ago. December 9, 2025 at 5:38 pm in reply to: You ever see “The Simpsons”? #314612 MANI506Participant I’ve folded the VHS and DVD compilations into my full run and watching the commentaries up to season 17. I expect once I get past the movie I’ll sail through as there’ll be no double/triple/quadruple (in the case of Simpsons Roasting On An Open Fire) dipping. The Springfield Files made me laugh so hard. Got to be one of the funniest episodes (the alien line up). Just two more season 9 episodes then on to season 10. December 7, 2025 at 12:40 pm in reply to: You ever see “The Simpsons”? #314475 MANI506Participant The first Simpsons episode I thought was bad through and through was the Kid Rock Florida one so it’ll be interesting to see how I get on with that one this time around December 6, 2025 at 9:59 pm in reply to: You ever see “The Simpsons”? #314455 MANI506Participant It does now! December 6, 2025 at 9:40 pm in reply to: You ever see “The Simpsons”? #314452 MANI506Participant Having put off a full rewatch for years about four months ago I started at season one with the DVDs (I have seasons one to seventeen on the shelf) and I’m currently up to season nine (Simpson Tide). I originally fell off around season eleven and so far I’m having a blast. I’ll carry on to the end and then the plan is to watch all of Futurama on Disney Plus. December 5, 2025 at 3:48 pm in reply to: Mundane observation dome #314391 MANI506Participant The first time I really noticed was Robert’s side on shower shot at the start of Krytie TV. November 20, 2025 at 1:06 am in reply to: Your Unpopular Red Dwarf Opinions #313721 MANI506Participant I also noticed that a Polaroid of Lister with the two babies is on the wall before the ship breaks light speed. I forget the scene. November 20, 2025 at 1:03 am in reply to: Your Unpopular Red Dwarf Opinions #313720 MANI506Participant I just watched episodes 4-6 of series 1 remastered as part of my go through of the new box set and I think the editing choices are very good and make the shows better. That’s my unpopular opinion. I also noticed for the first time that Craig Charles corpses when Danny delivers the line ‘he won’t find that one. Not until he changes his boots’. November 10, 2025 at 2:21 pm in reply to: Red Dwarf: Titan being developed into a Novel #313266 MANI506Participant I got the first two novels for my 12th birthday in 1992, Last Human for my 15th birthday in 1995 but was so unenthused by the concept of a novel called Backwards that I didn’t pick that up until later in the 90s. I only got the unabridged audiotapes last year from eBay. November 6, 2025 at 12:35 pm in reply to: Red Dwarf: Titan being developed into a Novel #313048 MANI506Participant Yes, mine have MVC receipts from 1995 tucked in the sleeves. It was the second time I bought series 1-V as I’d traded them in for Smegazines the year before. October 30, 2025 at 10:22 am in reply to: Idea for an episode. #312765 MANI506Participant The penny dropped that Chris Barrie is playing Uncle Frank. I used to think ‘who listens to all this Big Finish’ but last week I was in a hall full of Big Finish listeners at Time Lash IX convention. October 29, 2025 at 8:05 pm in reply to: New Book: Red Dwarf – Discovering The TV Series #312743 MANI506Participant I think I got mine at Domension Jump 97 October 23, 2025 at 4:31 pm in reply to: Mundane observation dome #312550 MANI506Participant I’ve been looking at the original programme guide and noticed that the entry for Marooned was on page 61. October 11, 2025 at 12:02 pm in reply to: RD Series I – XIII Boxset #312025 MANI506Participant I resisted blu ray for years but it was a bit of intrigue for the Trial Of A Timelord Collection in 2019 that persuaded me to make the leap. In most cases DVDs are perfectly cromulant. October 8, 2025 at 11:20 pm in reply to: RD Series I – XIII Boxset #311967 MANI506Participant Yes, exactly the same. October 8, 2025 at 5:13 pm in reply to: RD Series I – XIII Boxset #311961 MANI506Participant Is it ‘Thanks For The Memories’ or ‘Thanks For The Memory’ on the Series II blu-ray menu? Thanks For The Memories. First thing I checked. October 7, 2025 at 4:43 pm in reply to: RD Series I – XIII Boxset #311928 MANI506Participant I’m hoping to hear atmospheric titters from 2012 G&T staff in the rear speakers of X. October 7, 2025 at 4:43 pm in reply to: RD Series I – XIII Boxset #311927 MANI506Participant I looked on the box and I gather that both series X and Promised Land are 5.1 with the rest being good ol’ stereo (or a version of). October 7, 2025 at 1:12 pm in reply to: RD Series I – XIII Boxset #311910 MANI506Participant I have the box set and looking forward to getting stuck in. I suppose the big advantage of this set is it literally tells me where to slot in Bodysnatcher and Just The Smegs whereas in the past I’ve made gut decisions. Nothing will ever match the excitement of the initial DVD run (with it’s beautifully designed layouts and booklets). October 5, 2025 at 10:53 am in reply to: Red Dwarf DVD commentaries #311798 MANI506Participant I’ve just started a stroll through the APU with KMKYWAP so I’ll rate the commentaries as I go September 27, 2025 at 1:13 am in reply to: The Official Red Dwarf Convention 2025 #311490 MANI506Participant Thinking about it for old time’s sake. Upsettingly I’m only seven years younger than those two men. July 25, 2025 at 11:47 am in reply to: Red Dwarf: Titan speculation thread #309232 MANI506Participant Did we miss the tenth anniversary of Over To Bill? I still want to see it if anyone knows where. July 23, 2025 at 12:24 pm in reply to: Doug had updated his Twitter #309097 MANI506Participant You’re joking? Phil Pope? Oh my god. I’ve been watching some Charlie Brooker recently. Top tier piss taker. July 21, 2025 at 8:20 pm in reply to: Your Unpopular Red Dwarf Opinions #309032 MANI506Participant I ripped off the plot of Demons & Angels for a creative writing thing when I was 9 & I still feel guilty when I watch it I ripped off Richard Herring’s Twatty Harris teacher from Fist Of Fun series two and on a separate occasion ripped off Fry and Laurie’s From Here To Just Over There/get your ass in here/nobody likes a Smart Alec sketch. They should be standard texts anyway. July 9, 2025 at 6:15 pm in reply to: Series 2 -> Series 3 #308495 MANI506Participant Glad to have my insinuation that OG viewers would all be dead by now or too confused and infirm to use a forum refuted. I think I remember the Radio Times listing it as ‘Red Dwarf III’ which was odd. According to Genome, they went with the full “Red Dwarf III …the Saga Continuums” for the whole run. The saga continuums being added is even more bizarre and charming! I am confused though as I was born in 1980 and therefore 9 not 8. July 9, 2025 at 4:57 pm in reply to: Series 2 -> Series 3 #308493 MANI506Participant Excellent Reddishadow! July 9, 2025 at 1:54 pm in reply to: Series 2 -> Series 3 #308487 MANI506Participant I was 8 and a fan of series 2 (particularly Queeg which was the one episode I had taped) and was there on the night Backwards aired. I think I remember the Radio Times listing it as ‘Red Dwarf III’ which was odd. I just took the fast scroll as a goofy Spaceballs style joke. I was used to funky theme tunes like Count Duckula but the new intro didn’t sit well with me. Too snazzy, too good. However the tactic of starting with big laughs and a whacky concept paid off with me as I was fully on board by the end of the episode. June 16, 2025 at 5:43 pm in reply to: Russell Two Davies #307648 MANI506Participant Thank you Warbodog and Dave! The DVD sets I have are 1-13 and if I continue it’ll be Disney plus all the way. June 16, 2025 at 9:22 am in reply to: Russell Two Davies #307628 MANI506Participant As someone who is embarking on a Simpsons DVD binge I’d be interested to know which episodes are edited. May 19, 2025 at 6:06 pm in reply to: Lines from something else that sound like they’re from Red Dwarf #306331 MANI506Participant Any Queen fans can have ‘fun’ by singing ‘spit on her wrist’ along with the song ‘Flick Of The Wrist’ March 29, 2025 at 1:46 pm in reply to: The Gallifrey Gals’ own thread #304300 MANI506Participant Another nail in the coffin of variety What does he do, lay eggs? still in my regular quote rotation March 23, 2025 at 6:00 pm in reply to: Things you like about Series VIII #303709 MANI506Participant Git Central. March 8, 2025 at 1:28 am in reply to: Lines from something else that sound like they’re from Red Dwarf #303254 MANI506Participant Lousy plan! December 6, 2023 at 11:46 pm in reply to: Friendly Who podcast #291162 MANI506Participant Wheezing Groaning Sound is a great Doctor Who podcast. Lots of piss taking from what I gather are professional comedians. Toby Hadoke’s Time Travels is another great one. Very friendly, comforting and informative. DwarfCasts were my first love of course. When I heard the Meltdown episode I thought ‘these are my people’. The day the Can’t Smeg Won’t Smeg episode dropped it was a stupendous moment in my own personal history. November 29, 2023 at 12:03 pm in reply to: The Kemps: all gold #290926 MANI506Participant Danny John Jules was great in Brian Pern too. He played a Niles Rogers type producer and he used ‘mayonnaise’ instead of ‘sheesh’ or ‘gosh’. November 12, 2023 at 1:44 pm in reply to: Blackadder: The Lost Pilot #290461 MANI506Participant On this very forum I said I probably wouldn’t be able to afford the Hitch Hikers and Red Dwarf blu rays until 2023. Reader, I now have those blu rays and the Hitch Hikers one especially is a treat. I’m not super enticed by the new material given the price but the studio tapes of iconic episodes plus new commentaries means I’ll be picking this up around 2027. August 10, 2022 at 4:49 pm in reply to: Refresh For The Memory: Series 1 Byte 1 #275738 MANI506Participant I’m in guys. Watching again with the Rob, Paul and Ed commentaries. One thing I’ve noticed is that the telephone behind Rimmer and Lister in the last scene of Future Echoes says ‘this phone will not accept incoming Earth calls’. Another one of those tomorrow. September 26, 2021 at 11:25 am in reply to: Red Dwarf DVD commentaries #269507 MANI506Participant <p style=”text-align: left;”>They don’t call him Naylor for nothing.</p> February 24, 2021 at 5:53 am in reply to: Your Unpopular Red Dwarf Opinions #264356 MANI506Participant Patrick Stewart parody is never not funny to me. Bravo for thirty two as well! February 22, 2021 at 9:40 pm in reply to: Your Unpopular Red Dwarf Opinions #264318 MANI506Participant I was living and working in Watford when I watched the fan film on the VII DVD. I’m sure I would have signed up earlier but I wasn’t on the internet much back then. When I caught up with all the Dwarf Casts around BTE time I was so happy to hear you all talk about the stuff no one I knew gave a shit about (especially Tikka and Meltdown casts). Then something happened… which made me laugh. Genuinely there have been superb zingers in the extended lockdown casts! Thank you all. February 10, 2021 at 2:26 am in reply to: people who “react” to RD on Youtube #264080 MANI506Participant I became a Jim B patreon because I was enjoying his reactions. It’s so much fun to watch again with someone who’s never seen it before. He just released The Promised Land today. December 22, 2020 at 7:48 pm in reply to: Tom Scott video: The Greatest Title Sequence I’ve Ever Seen #263697 MANI506Participant Great video, thanks for sharing! December 3, 2020 at 8:12 am in reply to: Jokes you don't/didn't get #263501 MANI506Participant I only just got the joke in Psirens about the meteor having a duty free shop this week after watching Jim B’s reaction vid. 27 years of bafflement. October 11, 2020 at 3:45 am in reply to: Cassandra is not shit #262331 MANI506Participant Do I ever find my singing tie pin, your station is Git Central – classic. From the moment Rimmer and Kochanski are trapped together it kind of nose dives. Author Replies Viewing 50 replies - 1 through 50 (of 548 total) 1 2 3 … 9 10 11
