I said at the time but Mike Agnew’s interviews from the early series documentary literally influence the way I speak.

As someone who was 17 and alive in the south of England at the start of 1998 I never heard AH as an abbreviation anywhere and thought it was fairly weak. Nice Harvesters joke although I love Harvesters and recommend the Bhaji Burger.

There’s a great long running Paul Darrow bit on the Doctor Who podcast Wheezing Groaning Sound. The joke is that he always says the opposite of what he thinks you expect and then says ‘ha har’. It has had me in nice giggling fits.

I’ve folded the VHS and DVD compilations into my full run and watching the commentaries up to season 17. I expect once I get past the movie I’ll sail through as there’ll be no double/triple/quadruple (in the case of Simpsons Roasting On An Open Fire) dipping. The Springfield Files made me laugh so hard. Got to be one of the funniest episodes (the alien line up). Just two more season 9 episodes then on to season 10.

The first Simpsons episode I thought was bad through and through was the Kid Rock Florida one so it’ll be interesting to see how I get on with that one this time around

Having put off a full rewatch for years about four months ago I started at season one with the DVDs (I have seasons one to seventeen on the shelf) and I’m currently up to season nine (Simpson Tide). I originally fell off around season eleven and so far I’m having a blast. I’ll carry on to the end and then the plan is to watch all of Futurama on Disney Plus.

The first time I really noticed was Robert’s side on shower shot at the start of Krytie TV.

I also noticed that a Polaroid of Lister with the two babies is on the wall before the ship breaks light speed. I forget the scene.

I just watched episodes 4-6 of series 1 remastered as part of my go through of the new box set and I think the editing choices are very good and make the shows better. That’s my unpopular opinion. I also noticed for the first time that Craig Charles corpses when Danny delivers the line ‘he won’t find that one. Not until he changes his boots’.

I got the first two novels for my 12th birthday in 1992, Last Human for my 15th birthday in 1995 but was so unenthused by the concept of a novel called Backwards that I didn’t pick that up until later in the 90s. I only got the unabridged audiotapes last year from eBay.

Yes, mine have MVC receipts from 1995 tucked in the sleeves. It was the second time I bought series 1-V as I’d traded them in for Smegazines the year before.

The penny dropped that Chris Barrie is playing Uncle Frank. I used to think ‘who listens to all this Big Finish’ but last week I was in a hall full of Big Finish listeners at Time Lash IX convention.

I resisted blu ray for years but it was a bit of intrigue for the Trial Of A Timelord Collection in 2019 that persuaded me to make the leap. In most cases DVDs are perfectly cromulant.

I looked on the box and I gather that both series X and Promised Land are 5.1 with the rest being good ol’ stereo (or a version of).

I have the box set and looking forward to getting stuck in. I suppose the big advantage of this set is it literally tells me where to slot in Bodysnatcher and Just The Smegs whereas in the past I’ve made gut decisions. Nothing will ever match the excitement of the initial DVD run (with it’s beautifully designed layouts and booklets).

I ripped off the plot of Demons & Angels for a creative writing thing when I was 9 & I still feel guilty when I watch it

I ripped off Richard Herring’s Twatty Harris teacher from Fist Of Fun series two and on a separate occasion ripped off Fry and Laurie’s From Here To Just Over There/get your ass in here/nobody likes a Smart Alec sketch. They should be standard texts anyway.

Glad to have my insinuation that OG viewers would all be dead by now or too confused and infirm to use a forum refuted.

I think I remember the Radio Times listing it as ‘Red Dwarf III’ which was odd.

According to Genome, they went with the full “Red Dwarf III …the Saga Continuums” for the whole run.

The saga continuums being added is even more bizarre and charming! I am confused though as I was born in 1980 and therefore 9 not 8.

I was 8 and a fan of series 2 (particularly Queeg which was the one episode I had taped) and was there on the night Backwards aired. I think I remember the Radio Times listing it as ‘Red Dwarf III’ which was odd. I just took the fast scroll as a goofy Spaceballs style joke. I was used to funky theme tunes like Count Duckula but the new intro didn’t sit well with me. Too snazzy, too good. However the tactic of starting with big laughs and a whacky concept paid off with me as I was fully on board by the end of the episode.

Wheezing Groaning Sound is a great Doctor Who podcast. Lots of piss taking from what I gather are professional comedians.

Toby Hadoke’s Time Travels is another great one. Very friendly, comforting and informative.

DwarfCasts were my first love of course. When I heard the Meltdown episode I thought ‘these are my people’. The day the Can’t Smeg Won’t Smeg episode dropped it was a stupendous moment in my own personal history.

Danny John Jules was great in Brian Pern too. He played a Niles Rogers type producer and he used ‘mayonnaise’ instead of ‘sheesh’ or ‘gosh’.

On this very forum I said I probably wouldn’t be able to afford the Hitch Hikers and Red Dwarf blu rays until 2023. Reader, I now have those blu rays and the Hitch Hikers one especially is a treat. I’m not super enticed by the new material given the price but the  studio tapes of iconic episodes plus new commentaries means I’ll be picking this up around 2027.

I’m in guys. Watching again with the Rob, Paul and Ed commentaries. One thing I’ve noticed is that the telephone behind Rimmer and Lister in the last scene of Future Echoes says ‘this phone will not accept incoming Earth calls’. Another one of those tomorrow.

I was living and working in Watford when I watched the fan film on the VII DVD. I’m sure I would have signed up earlier but I wasn’t on the internet much back then. When I caught up with all the Dwarf Casts around BTE time I was so happy to hear you all talk about the stuff no one I knew gave a shit about (especially Tikka and Meltdown casts). Then something happened… which made me laugh. Genuinely there have been superb zingers in the extended lockdown casts! Thank you all.

Do I ever find my singing tie pin, your station is Git Central – classic.

From the moment Rimmer and Kochanski are trapped together it kind of nose dives.
