I’ve always felt that Contest was the first recorded – no evidence to back this up though.

Might watch the series again this weekend. Digger and Hole are two of the strongest I think.

I love Parade! Sad Ken is classic!

Rewatching Ghostwatch for Halloween is a great idea. Isn’t there supposed to be a documentary coming out as it’s the twentieth anniversary?

Way back in the distant past I do remember the series 3 kick off being a little jarring. I became a fan around about series 2 and endlessly rewatched Queeg before Backwards was aired. There was a feeling of something not quite right!

I know that Bottom got unfunny with the third live show but what of Guest House Paradiso? I’ve only seen it once and can’t remember anything about it. Is it as bad as I assume it is?

Agreed, Cat’s line is fine. It’s a shame about Sim Crauford still being in the room after she teleported away. It’ll go down in history as one of the great production smeg ups along with the elbow in the window from The End, the crew appearing on Holly’s monitor in Terrorform and Lister walking off the edge of the set in Marooned.

Very well put piece Dave and that pretty much sums up how I feel as well. I’ve been a fan since series 2 but every series that came after pushed my enthusiasm higher and higher until it peaked at VI. I enjoyed all the Red Dwarf we’ve had since then and I’ve greedily devoured every DVD that has since come out but tonight does feel special in the way that ‘Psirens’ did all those years ago.

Great headline and I think Kula Shaker are great as well!

Identity Within is something I rewatched again recently and it does get better with each watch I find. Nothing hilarious happens but it’s a fascinating curio and a pretty decent story as well.

Bodysnatcher is such a lovely thing to have considering all we’d heard about it for years was one or two throwaway comments in old Rob and Doug interviews. The real joy of the Bodysnatcher Collection though is having Rob and Doug back together again for hopefully not the last time.

Great turd polish as always! The last ten minutes as assembled by srmcd1 is about three million times better than the broadcast version. Which is annoying.

The only bits I don’t like about BTE are the tomato scene and the toilet discussion in the bunk scene.

All the performances are great and Mike Seymour deserves a medal. It is definitely not shit!

I laughed like a twat at the zoom in bit and the priory line.

Thanks Seb! Sorry I was too lazy to just check the DVD.

Doug has always said that the door’s open for Rob to return and I think it’s likely that he will because The Bodysnatcher Collection demonstrated that they’re still getting on fine, as far as I can tell Series X has re-established the classic III-VI status quo and I don’t need a third reason because the first two were so great.

I’m definitely going to re read Colony because of this thread.

Is there a ‘created by Rob Grant and Doug Naylor’ credit on every episode since Rob left? I don’t remember one being there for BTE. If not, why not?!

I could just put the DVD on but thought I’d ask here.

The joke makes sense if it was just Lister watching the documentary about breasts and Rimmer overheard the word ‘areolas’ before making his Spanish footballer misunderstanding.

I can understand Doug wanting to keep this joke and doing his best to make it work as it is a clever one, but it does feel a bit crowbarred and forced to me.

Just being a picky cunt. I laughed out loud at the previous two trailers and I’m looking forward to the series. To say the least.

‘Hello wall, what do you think?’

    Not really.

I keep changing my mind about VII and VIII. At the moment I think VII is under rated and VIII has a decent enough first half and then a total mess for the last four episodes.

I wouldn’t call myself a Doctor Who fan but I really enjoyed that and I’d say it was my favourite Dalek episode of all. I should think there are a few plot holes but I didn’t see the twist coming and I was moved by the Ponds getting back together.

There’s a podcast I like called The Complete Guide To Everything and their last one about Doctor Who had me chortling fatly throughout.

The cheese shop on record is much funnier than the tv show. Same with Eric Idle’s Watneys Red Barrel monologue.

I’ve been listening to the Rob/Doug and Ed commentaries off of The Bodysnatcher collection. Fascinating! Especially the secret Spitting Image chat.

I’d agree that Barrie watching series 7 go down the shitter after he left is an audio delight. Duct Soup is particularly good for this.

The only ending that I really hate is Only The Good as broadcast. The alternate ending is better and the audience applause seems right in that case. When I saw the broadcast version I thought Death was stupid and the caption was stupid and I DIDN’T FEEL LIKE APPLAUSING. Just off to the Angry Dome…

As mentioned TFTM is very satisfying and Backwards leaves on a great woofer. The Justice and Terrorform endings have bothered me a tiny bit in the past but I like both now. I always thought the ending to both Polymorphs were a bit pony. All time favourite is Out Of Time. Stunning.

Dennis the doughnut boy probably annoyed me a bit at the time but looking back now I think that it is a funny idea and makes sense when watching series 1 and 2.

    I don’t rate Cassandra highly because of the ridiculous Roverostomy gag and the even more ridiculous ‘Kryten figured it out’ contrived ending. However there are two amazing dialogue scenes in the middle with some great lines. Namely;

‘Do I ever find my singing tie pin’ and ‘your station is Git Central’.

I found the whole of the Rimmer Experience scene hilarious in 97 and I still find it hilarious now. Maybe the episode should have been called The Rimmer Experience!

Great set in the Gas episode as well of the outside of the flat, Wimbledon common as well and of course the ferris wheel itself. Whoever the set designer was they did some exceptional work.

Bottom is funnier than The Young Ones but thanks to an article from Noise To Signal I found out that Filthy Rich and Catflap is at least as good as those two shows if not better.
