As much as the last series/episode was a huge disappointment in that it didn’t really answer a lot (apart from showing that the islands mysterious powers were in place due to some equally unexplained light in a cave!) I always liked the ending and closure it gave to the characters. Apart from all the questions, Lost was really about the characters and we saw many of them before the island, on the island, escaping the island and then coming back to the island! Over the 6 series I really got close to a lot of them, so to see the majority of them getting back together and finding redemption and happiness in the end did move me quite a bit. It completely screwed up most of the weird island stuff, but as a character drama I do think Lost is one of the best there is.

Yeah I generally wait a bit and spend £5 or £6 on a DVD unless it’s a new release that I’ve been really looking forward to e.g the Dwarf DVD’s, which always had quite a bit more than 2 hours of content anyway. Plus I personally am much more inclined to rewatch DVD’s on a regular basis. Even if I complete a game and really like it, I still probably won’t play it again for a few years.

I agree with you about quality being more important than quantity but as a student who doesn’t have much money to buy all that many games at the moment (I’m by no means saying you do – I have no idea!) if I’m going to pay full price for a game I want to be sure it’ll last me a while, as I won’t have the money to buy another for some time afterwards. By and large I’d certainly rather play a great game than a long but ‘just OK’ game though.

Sometimes I do keep up to date with critics/writers/idiots I don’t share the same viewpoint with in the hope that they will eventually see the error of their ways and change their minds. They never do.

I’m still not convinced it’s worth £30-£35. I know without doubt it’ll be a great game and I love the first one but I’m gonna be waiting for this to come down in price a bit before I get it. Think I’m just used to only paying top whack for games with a bit more longevity I suppose.

The series so far certainly isn’t as strong as previous material but to class it as ‘dire’ is unbelievably harsh.

It was actually stated when they were outside the pub that Alex died at 9:06 in the hospital at the beginning of this series. When she woke up after Gene slapped her, she was dead from that point on. Seems to explain why she was losing her memories/less concerned about Molly and her life back home this series. I would guess that when she was shot and went into a coma in Gene’s world, this was the point at which whatever problem she had in the real world that ultimately caused her to die happened. And whilst in her coma in Gene’s world she imagined she had woken up in the real world?

Anyway I really enjoyed it. Sure, you can probably pick a few holes in it but not anything big or serious enough for me to think it doesn’t make sense or they dropped the ball. All the performances were fantastic, including Keats who I do now wish had popped up earlier in the whole story (though maybe one could say the test card girl was a manisfestation of him? Not sure how well that holds up however.)

I desperately wanted Sam to appear going into the episode but the way it turned out it wouldn’t have made sense for him to pop up and in retrospect I’m almost glad he didn’t. Maybe seeing him for a split second through the doors of the Railway Arms would have been a nice treat though! Thought the final scene mirroring Sam’s “My desk is here! This is my office!!” and Gene’s “A word in your shell-like pal” was a good way to end it though. Definitely gonna miss Gene.

The silhouette was clearly meant to be Sam I but whether John Simm is actually gonna turn up I’m not sure now. I think if he was going to it would have been a cliffhanger in this episode. Really good episode again though I am dubious about how they’re gonna manage to wrap everything up in one more hour.

It was very good. What the fuck is Keats?! Whatever he did to Viv, it certainly looked like Viv was trying to fight it rather than it being a case of Keats putting him out of his pain and helping him. There’s no way that guy was Sam though. And they just can’t make the big reveal be that Gene has been the bad guy all along. It’d destroy both shows. Really, desperately want John Simm to turn up now.

I did think them singing the line “and I am dead, as dead I well may be” might be quite telling.

Wait. No. This has blown my mind. Surely if the Doctor could travel back in time and land on Skaro at a point when it hadn’t been blown up then the Daleks living on Skaro at that point in time would still be flying around invading God knows where and generally causing havock. And yet the Doctor is always still surprised when he encounters them, suggesting Skaro and the Daleks no longer exist at any point in time. So surely what you suggest isn’t possible?

I’m fairly certain the Doctor said at some point that Bracewell had been given someone else’s memories. So it’s possible the things he remembered did indeed exist.

I think he saw the first episode and hated it. Im guessing that’s what happened in the US version then? Can’t see them going in the same direction in that case.

That mine cart level isn’t exactly the kind of thing i was expecting from this game but it has to be said…the person controlling it was an absolute n00b :P

Still hoping this is gonna be good but i get a bit more worried about it every week.

My dad has this theory they’re all on a spaceship in some kind of stasis/suspended animation and the spaceship is heading for a new life on Mars after the destruction of the Earth. Would explain the stars in the last episode at least.

8 episodes this series. Quite liked Sykes this week actually, hope he returns at some point down the line. Nice to see Annie getting a good solid episode of character development anyway. I’m still not really sure how all the different plot threads are going to tie together at the end of the series but I’m looking forward to seeing it all play out. I highly doubt Mitchell is going to be keeping control of the vampires for very long though.

Finally caught up with this today. The Annie storyline got a bit dramatic at the end didn’t it?? Should shut up all the people that were going on about her being toned down and turned into a comedy character this series when judging by ONE EPISODE.

It’s…erm…alright. Not having Jeff decreases the amount of laughs and crazy theories that the lads come up with, and the replacement character is just annoying. I seem to remember the first episode of the series was actually pretty good and promising but it slowly gets worse from there.

Is this the ‘Torchwood series 4’ Davies was going on about the other month then, or do you reckon it’s a very recent development? I really hope this isn’t being treated as series 4.

I always thought the Big Finish audios must be generally well regarded. I think that’s mostly informed by how long they’ve been running though as I’ve not really heard that many of them. Am I under the wrong impression?

They did have George being a visibly angrier person and moaning about Nina when he and Mitchell were in the pub at the very start of the episode, but I agree that this probably wasn’t enough to justify to us what happened about 5 minutes later. They needed at least one scene of him and Nina together and really not getting on (the kind of thing we saw later in the episode) to set up the cheating on her. Apart from that though I thought it was on great form. The werewolf in that capsule being forced not to change was bloody horrific!

I watched The Empty Child/Doctor Dances the other day and wondered about this. Completely forgot it was ever mentioned TBH. I didn’t really remember enough Torchwood episodes to be sure whether it had been resolved or not either. It hasn’t, has it?

I could see Jack and Sarah Jane popping up in an episode or two somewhere down the line if their respective series’ continue successfully, but yeah I think we’ve seen the last of Donna/Rose/Martha/Mickey etc.

Unless Martha and Mickey do finally turn up for Torchwood…

Wow, I’m disappointed. Possibly the worst line-up CBB has ever had IMO. Think I know of 4 of them and I’m pushing the boundaries of the word ‘know’ to the limits there. Thought Davina said there were a few big guns this year? Hopefully there’s some surprise housemates to come.

I find that celeb BB is just about the right length for me to not get too bored. Normal BB goes on for far too long these days. Hope they have some decent people this year but I’m not holding my breath.

Beautiful. Really enjoyed it. The end did go on a bit yes but I’m willing to forgive it as it was a nice wrap up for everything that RTD previously gave us. Bit disappointed about the Time Lords getting sent back and ultimately not really doing a lot but hey ho. The Master saving The Doctor completely made up for that anyway in my opinion. That simple little moment made me very happy. Wilf knocking afterwards was chilling though. And, of course, no explanation about what happened to The Master! How conveniant :P

Matt came across as promising. Seemed very reminiscent of when David took over really. I don’t think you can judge him properly from that minute at the end anyway, especially considering the massive shift in atmosphere from what we’d just been watching. Would have liked a new regeneration effect though!! And on that note why didn’t the exact same regeneration process crash the TARDIS last time round if it did here? Oh well. Nitpicking. Loved it.

Easily the best one of these I’ve seen you do. I really like the voice for Lister now, during his annecdotes I could almost hear Craig. Not so convinced by Rimmer’s voice but there’s something there. At times it gets pretty close but as Kris said it can often get a bit Mitchell-esque or go for a complete wander. Overall sound quality was better too which is a good sign.

Animation was alright though obviously it didn’t really need a lot considering the context of the scene. Howvever the characters did seem a bit stiff.

Probably the most important thing is the gags and I gotta say there were some decent lines in there. Got a few good laughs out of me for sure. Largnog was brilliant and the annecdotes were pretty amusing. Very impressive!

Oh, and I thought the length was just about right.
