The G&T Review of the Year 2023 Features Posted by Ian Symes on 31st December 2023, 15:16 At the start of Red Dwarf's 35th anniversary year, things had never seemed grimmer for the health of the franchise. The protracted legal kerfuffle between the show's creators was dragging on into its third calendar year, with no indication whatsoever that it would end any time soon, and any possibility of new material dwindling with each passing day. But as 2023 comes to an end, despite there still being no solid news in terms of actual production, there has been so, so much to give us hope that Red Dwarf shall live again. Read more →

The G&T Review of the Year 2021 Features Posted by Ian Symes on 31st December 2021, 15:38 This time last year, we were cautiously optimistic that 2021 might just be a bit better than 2020 for the world at large, but reflected on what was a bumper year for Red Dwarf content. As it transpired, it didn't feel like a particularly vintage year in the end, and in Dwarf terms it was something of annus horribilis for the small rouge one. There were however some highlights along the way, and also a hell of a lot of G&T content to hopefully provide a small distraction from the continuing downfall of humanity, and so let us take our customary look back on the last twelve months, once again sorted topic-by-topic. Objection! News Posted by Ian Symes on 6th February 2021, 22:16 Today was the first day of Holly Hop, and despite the presence of Rob Grant and Paul Jackson, two of the three remaining directors of Grant Naylor Productions, we really didn't expect this week's rather shocking news to be mentioned, especially considering the Fan Club team politely requested of attendees that it wasn't brought up during Q&As throughout the day. However, it was clear from very early on in their appearance, as they prepared to commentate on White Hole alongside their usual cohort Ed Bye, that the pair wanted to address the topic. So they both did, and then some. Here is an exact, verbatim transcript of what they said, starting with Rob Grant: Read more →
Take the fifth! News Posted by Ian Symes on 4th February 2021, 12:04 This is probably the most unpleasant news story we've had to cover in the more than eighteen years this site has been going. Not least because it involves linking to the Daily Mail, who today report that Doug Naylor is suing Rob Grant and Grant Naylor Productions, following Doug's removal from the board of the company last year. To save you from clicking onto that shithole, the relevant parts of the article are below, and below that is our initial reaction. [Doug Naylor] has just initiated a dramatic High Court action against his former co-scriptwriter and one-time best friend, Rob Grant. The claim also names Grant Naylor Productions, the company which he and Grant established 30 years ago ‘to exploit their services as scriptwriters’. Read more →
How did I get two Baby Cows? News Posted by Ian Symes on 2nd March 2014, 14:58 Following the recent revelation that The Naylors’ new sitcom would be co-produced by Baby Cow, many of us were pondering whether this had any implications for the future of Grant Naylor Productions and/or Red Dwarf. It seems like it might, as even the most cursory of Google searches – for “baby cow red dwarf” – reveals some pretty interesting results. Continue reading →
Did I ever tell you about Three Feet? News Posted by Ian Symes on 23rd February 2014, 20:34 More rumblings about the Naylors’ non-Dwarfy project, which is a relief considering we spent an hour watching The Alan Titchmarsh Show the other day in anticipation of a non-existent announcement. Naylor Minor today unveiled Three Feet Productions, a new production company founded by the father and son team, and presumably named after the total number of non-prosthetic lower leg appendages owned by the pair of them.
