From Seb on the official forum –

I’ve got to say, if anything’s going to jeopardise the chances of there being an audience for any possible future series, it would be Shepperton becoming besieged by people turning up in the hopes that they might get in. If anything, I’d suggest it might even jeopardise there being an audience on the later dates of THIS series, if Shepperton’s security are made to feel like the show is actively causing a problem! There is nowhere to wait around outside the gates – you certainly wouldn’t be allowed to do so by security, just as you wouldn’t be allowed to hang around any major movie studio in that way – so it’s not as if you can turn up to wait and see if all the ticket-holders turn up.

I have a feeling Doug’s tweet was aimed at people who might have happened to be close by in the vicinity, as there were specific weather/travel problems that meant not everyone actually made it in time (he did say it was “Due to traffic problems” in his tweet – for all we know, it might have been the tickets that were held by people he himself knew/had invited). I don’t think it should be taken as an indication that this will be the case for any future dates, and I certainly don’t think it was intended to encourage ticketless people to journey to Shepperton (which is a small and out-of-the-way town).

It’s not my place to tell you what to do with your Friday afternoons, but I can’t stress enough that I think coming anywhere near the studios without a ticket is a bad, and potentially very disruptive, idea.

The Red Dwarf Facebook and Twitter page will be running competitions to win tickets so if you keep an eye on those you might be able to win yourself a pair.

    >I am going to do this if no luck

Please don’t. It jeopardises having an audience on future series (and on the next 4 episodes) if fans do this in enough number and cause a disturbance in Shepperton. It could also cause increased traffic in Shepperton and so disturb fans who managed to get tickets. Really it is in the best interests of the future of the show for you not to go down to the studio.

I know this might sound harsh and I’m really sorry you didn’t manage to get tickets but I would hate it to be the fans that kill future series of Dwarf being done the way Doug wants them too.

Book – Man in the Runner Mask – Read the book earlier this year and it is brilliant. But of course you can now get the audiobook which is also brilliant (and incredibly cheap considering it also comes with the new version to be written and recorded in 2012).
Would also recommend tracking down a copy of The Making of Red Dwarf which covers the making of ‘Gunmen of the Apocalypse’, got it earlier this year for £3 on Amazon.

Video Game – Sonic CD – I got this on the Gems collection for the PS2 years ago but never really played it properly, with the fantastic and cheap remake out yesterday I have now discovered it is a lot more fun when you try to go into the past and make a good future rather than play it as a generic Sonic game.

Other Business – Rabbit – I got one, they are brilliant.

Two good choices of episodes, I’d say.

Sure, we’d all probably prefer ‘The Tenth Planet’ Episode 4 or ‘The Power of the Daleks’ Episode 6 but here we have a whole episode from one of the worst represented stories (only a five minute clip existed and no telesnaps, now we know what the Rill looks like!) and a new earliest Troughton episode (and one with him playing the Recorder! The only other existing time he does that is in ‘The Three Doctors’ I think).

If it is good, it will get more people watching the show

If it is shit then it will fade into obscurity and have no effect on the show.

Why would anybody be against this? If you really don’t like the idea then it isn’t going to effect the TV series and it is easy to avoid.

Though I don’t think it will happen, they’ve been trying to make a Doctor Who film since 1986.

In a hallucinated world within the Red Dwarf universe Series X comes before BTE.

I believe Hattie is doing a tour through January so she probably won’t be in it, sadly.

Wouldn’t mind if it was just the four main gang. If the four main gang are looking for Kochanski then it opens up a Series VI style dynamic of them going through space with a side plot every episode but the main quest being to find something (Red Dwarf in VI, Kochanski in X).

Oh fuck, I read it wrong, so beflustered by it describing four series, it is Australia’s Comedy Channel, damn.

I shouldn’t get so overexcited, but the prospect of more Dwarf and Partridge on British TV made me very happy, now I am sad :(

I do hope Dave buy the rights for Mid Morning Matters, I hear they are going to be taken down from Youtube.

Incidentally, the Comedy Channel has only bought four series of Dwarf, Series 1-2 and VII-VIII.

Everybody needs to buy a copy so they make money and can buy the rights off the BBC to also release the even better TMWRNJ (TMWRNJ).

In other Dave related channel news, Dave Ja Vu has been taken off Freeview (well it is airing at 2am-4am) in favour of Really.

I am a little astounded that they taken Dave Ja Vu off, it has a BARB share of 0.3% which compares to the 0.8% of Dave, the 0.4% of GOLD and the 0.0% share of Really. It is possible that Dave will see a small rise and Really will see a significant rise which might offset the loss of Dave Ja Vu.

    Nice to see Dave HD.

Well when Doug announced it, it was pretty much certain, except they had to iron out the cast contracts. That is done now with the biggest possible problem (Craig on Corrie) sorted. So it is as certain as it can get before pre-production begins!

    >We’d get more new Red Dwarf if Mr. Naylor gave us that scene on Twitter he said he’d post when he got five thousand followers!

He hinted on twitter that he can’t post it because he signed an NDA.

The version on the DVD is 90 minutes, not 60 minutes. 90 minutes isn’t an hour, 60 minutes is an hour ;)

It is a shame we have never got a Writers Cut or something like that but I really like the Xtended version anyway.
