If anything, I’d suggest it might even jeopardise there being an audience on the later dates of THIS series, if Shepperton’s security are made to feel like the show is actively causing a problem! There is nowhere to wait around outside the gates – you certainly wouldn’t be allowed to do so by security, just as you wouldn’t be allowed to hang around any major movie studio in that way – so it’s not as if you can turn up to wait and see if all the ticket-holders turn up. I have a feeling Doug’s tweet was aimed at people who might have happened to be close by in the vicinity, as there were specific weather/travel problems that meant not everyone actually made it in time (he did say it was “Due to traffic problems” in his tweet – for all we know, it might have been the tickets that were held by people he himself knew/had invited). I don’t think it should be taken as an indication that this will be the case for any future dates, and I certainly don’t think it was intended to encourage ticketless people to journey to Shepperton (which is a small and out-of-the-way town). It’s not my place to tell you what to do with your Friday afternoons, but I can’t stress enough that I think coming anywhere near the studios without a ticket is a bad, and potentially very disruptive, idea. December 20, 2011 at 5:59 pm in reply to: Anyone have a spare ticket? #113746 JamesTCParticipant The Red Dwarf Facebook and Twitter page will be running competitions to win tickets so if you keep an eye on those you might be able to win yourself a pair. December 20, 2011 at 5:50 pm in reply to: Anyone have a spare ticket? #113744 JamesTCParticipant Thanks! True Dwarfer you are! :) December 20, 2011 at 5:46 pm in reply to: Anyone have a spare ticket? #113742 JamesTCParticipant >I am going to do this if no luck Please don’t. It jeopardises having an audience on future series (and on the next 4 episodes) if fans do this in enough number and cause a disturbance in Shepperton. It could also cause increased traffic in Shepperton and so disturb fans who managed to get tickets. Really it is in the best interests of the future of the show for you not to go down to the studio. I know this might sound harsh and I’m really sorry you didn’t manage to get tickets but I would hate it to be the fans that kill future series of Dwarf being done the way Doug wants them too. December 15, 2011 at 2:28 pm in reply to: Five Star #113661 JamesTCParticipant Book – Man in the Runner Mask – Read the book earlier this year and it is brilliant. But of course you can now get the audiobook which is also brilliant (and incredibly cheap considering it also comes with the new version to be written and recorded in 2012). Would also recommend tracking down a copy of The Making of Red Dwarf which covers the making of ‘Gunmen of the Apocalypse’, got it earlier this year for £3 on Amazon. Video Game – Sonic CD – I got this on the Gems collection for the PS2 years ago but never really played it properly, with the fantastic and cheap remake out yesterday I have now discovered it is a lot more fun when you try to go into the past and make a good future rather than play it as a generic Sonic game. Other Business – Rabbit – I got one, they are brilliant. December 15, 2011 at 12:42 am in reply to: Google search terms #113641 JamesTCParticipant I just searched for “I just searched for “Spooge-soaked kumquats” and I was directed here. Strange.” and I was directed here. Strange. December 14, 2011 at 1:07 am in reply to: Norman Lovett… #113626 JamesTCParticipant I missed out “has joined twitter”. Fucking hell. December 11, 2011 at 11:37 pm in reply to: Lost 1960’s Dr Who 2 Episodes returned to the BBC #113585 JamesTCParticipant Two good choices of episodes, I’d say. Sure, we’d all probably prefer ‘The Tenth Planet’ Episode 4 or ‘The Power of the Daleks’ Episode 6 but here we have a whole episode from one of the worst represented stories (only a five minute clip existed and no telesnaps, now we know what the Rill looks like!) and a new earliest Troughton episode (and one with him playing the Recorder! The only other existing time he does that is in ‘The Three Doctors’ I think). December 9, 2011 at 10:31 pm in reply to: Win Tickets #113562 JamesTCParticipant Kat. November 29, 2011 at 12:17 am in reply to: Doug drops a potential series spoiler on twitter #113429 JamesTCParticipant He responded to a question about where the series would be set, whether it would be on Red Dwarf or Starbug and he responded “Both” so I think it is safe to say interiors and exteriors. November 28, 2011 at 10:53 pm in reply to: Doug drops a potential series spoiler on twitter #113425 JamesTCParticipant Doug has confirmed on twitter that Starbug will be in the new series. Hurray!!! November 28, 2011 at 6:20 pm in reply to: Danny John-Jules has just posted on facebook that he has just received 2 Scripts for New Red Dwarf in the post. #113421 JamesTCParticipant From Bobby, “Although its early days I think you can expect ‘classic’ Dwarf.” Also you can follow @edmoore who is Director of Photography on the new series. November 26, 2011 at 9:32 am in reply to: Doug drops a potential series spoiler on twitter #113395 JamesTCParticipant That was a moon. November 23, 2011 at 11:37 am in reply to: Happy Birthday, SingingPotato1979! #113354 JamesTCParticipant November 16, 2011 at 10:57 am in reply to: Doctor Who movie #113296 JamesTCParticipant If it is good, it will get more people watching the show If it is shit then it will fade into obscurity and have no effect on the show. Why would anybody be against this? If you really don’t like the idea then it isn’t going to effect the TV series and it is easy to avoid. Though I don’t think it will happen, they’ve been trying to make a Doctor Who film since 1986. November 13, 2011 at 9:44 pm in reply to: The New Series Blurb: Discuss. #113273 JamesTCParticipant >Well, Series X is supposed to be set before Back To Earth. Whether that bears any relevance to anything, I don’t know, but I just thought I’d mention it. In a hallucinated world within the Red Dwarf universe Series X comes before BTE. November 12, 2011 at 4:16 pm in reply to: The New Series Blurb: Discuss. #113264 JamesTCParticipant I believe Hattie is doing a tour through January so she probably won’t be in it, sadly. Wouldn’t mind if it was just the four main gang. If the four main gang are looking for Kochanski then it opens up a Series VI style dynamic of them going through space with a side plot every episode but the main quest being to find something (Red Dwarf in VI, Kochanski in X). October 28, 2011 at 4:36 pm in reply to: Fist of Fun series 1 – the best DVD ever? #113179 JamesTCParticipant It is up for pre-order on GFS. October 25, 2011 at 11:26 pm in reply to: The self loathing monster was from Doctor Who???????? #113169 JamesTCParticipant If memory serves me, it was mentioned in the Red Dwarf Companion book from 1992. October 25, 2011 at 3:10 pm in reply to: Comedy Central have bought repeat rights of Dwarf (and Partridge) #113166 JamesTCParticipant Fantastic! October 25, 2011 at 11:36 am in reply to: Comedy Central have bought repeat rights of Dwarf (and Partridge) #113146 JamesTCParticipant Oh fuck, I read it wrong, so beflustered by it describing four series, it is Australia’s Comedy Channel, damn. I shouldn’t get so overexcited, but the prospect of more Dwarf and Partridge on British TV made me very happy, now I am sad :( I do hope Dave buy the rights for Mid Morning Matters, I hear they are going to be taken down from Youtube. Incidentally, the Comedy Channel has only bought four series of Dwarf, Series 1-2 and VII-VIII. October 5, 2011 at 11:51 pm in reply to: Fist of Fun series 1 – the best DVD ever? #113113 JamesTCParticipant I asked Richard on twitter a month or so back about TMWRNJ, he said Stew was wrong and the BBC have full tapes. October 4, 2011 at 3:09 pm in reply to: Fist of Fun series 1 – the best DVD ever? #113101 JamesTCParticipant Everybody needs to buy a copy so they make money and can buy the rights off the BBC to also release the even better TMWRNJ (TMWRNJ). September 15, 2011 at 12:46 am in reply to: Pedantic bastard #112959 JamesTCParticipant Fair enough, I didn’t know that term, but look, I’ve bought a book and I promise I’m definitely going to read it on my next holiday. September 12, 2011 at 7:40 pm in reply to: Pedantic bastard #112955 JamesTCParticipant >Air Mags I don’t know who that is. September 6, 2011 at 1:41 pm in reply to: Craig on This Morning #112920 JamesTCParticipant >I’ll take this as nothing more than one of the actors making statements about things that have not yet been decided He said the sets are being built at Shepperton right now :D It’ll be up on ITVPlayer hopefully. August 9, 2011 at 9:13 pm in reply to: Dave HD #112855 JamesTCParticipant In other Dave related channel news, Dave Ja Vu has been taken off Freeview (well it is airing at 2am-4am) in favour of Really. I am a little astounded that they taken Dave Ja Vu off, it has a BARB share of 0.3% which compares to the 0.8% of Dave, the 0.4% of GOLD and the 0.0% share of Really. It is possible that Dave will see a small rise and Really will see a significant rise which might offset the loss of Dave Ja Vu. Nice to see Dave HD. August 5, 2011 at 3:20 pm in reply to: alt.tv.red-dwarf – Blast from the Past #112860 JamesTCParticipant At least we now know that the last 10 minutes of ‘Out of Time’ definitely take place in an unreality bubble. July 7, 2011 at 3:48 pm in reply to: “Red Dwarf X is now certain” #112667 JamesTCParticipant Go into the past and listen to Wave 105. Failing that see if they do some sort of podcast. If not then don’t believe me because I am obviously a lying cunt and that is the only possible explanation. Tonight with Andy Jackson on Wave 105:8pm – Jim Davidson / 9pm – Heather James Numerology / 10pm – Chris Barrie Posted by Wave 105 on Tuesday, 5 July 2011 July 6, 2011 at 11:05 pm in reply to: “Red Dwarf X is now certain” #112664 JamesTCParticipant Well when Doug announced it, it was pretty much certain, except they had to iron out the cast contracts. That is done now with the biggest possible problem (Craig on Corrie) sorted. So it is as certain as it can get before pre-production begins! >We’d get more new Red Dwarf if Mr. Naylor gave us that scene on Twitter he said he’d post when he got five thousand followers! He hinted on twitter that he can’t post it because he signed an NDA. June 14, 2011 at 2:31 am in reply to: Norman won’t be coming back… #112516 JamesTCParticipant Well that’s easily fixed… …with Hattie. May 27, 2011 at 5:53 pm in reply to: Back in the Red – one hour version? #112381 JamesTCParticipant The Series VIII script book is excellent so it wouldn’t be nice. But at least you’d then find ‘Pete’ funny. May 27, 2011 at 1:59 pm in reply to: Back in the Red – one hour version? #112378 JamesTCParticipant It would also be nice to see ‘Pete’ as originally intended, a single half hour episode. May 26, 2011 at 10:00 pm in reply to: Back in the Red – one hour version? #112368 JamesTCParticipant The version on the DVD is 90 minutes, not 60 minutes. 90 minutes isn’t an hour, 60 minutes is an hour ;) It is a shame we have never got a Writers Cut or something like that but I really like the Xtended version anyway.
