August 31, 2009 at 2:00 pm in reply to: io9 post list of top 100 scifi shows, have big ugly face that’s as dumb as a butt #102910 TheLeenParticipant I?m probably going to get shot down for this, but I?ve never been able to understand why BSG is rated so highly. I?ve seen the first season and, yes, it was enjoyable and the production values were good, etc, etc, but I?ve never liked it enough to stick around for subsequent series. Or indeed re-watch S1. When you watch (all of) it, you will reconsider this. August 31, 2009 at 1:58 pm in reply to: Doctor? I hardly even know her! #102909 TheLeenParticipant Letting it start go on as “series 1” at this point makes sense only if the title is changed from “Doctor Who” to something else. Otherwise there will be two “Doctor Who Series 1” on amazon, and people will end up buying the worng one for their grandchildren on christmas, and everyone will be pissed off. August 30, 2009 at 11:23 am in reply to: io9 post list of top 100 scifi shows, have big ugly face that’s as dumb as a butt #102872 TheLeenParticipant > Marleen, do you think that Lexx is, in all honesty, a better show than Red Dwarf? I think that all those programmes shouldn’t even be on the same list. I don’t think you can really rank / compare shows of so different genres. I personally like Red Dwarf better (and own the DVDs, and I don’t have the Lexx ones). Anyway. I thought Red Dwarf deserved to be placed higher. But that doesn’t mean I thought all the other shows deserved to be placed lower. You know what I mean? August 29, 2009 at 8:31 am in reply to: io9 post list of top 100 scifi shows, have big ugly face that’s as dumb as a butt #102822 TheLeenParticipant I liked Lexx August 28, 2009 at 3:57 pm in reply to: Doctor? I hardly even know her! #102788 TheLeenParticipant I don’t have to post anything anywhere anymore. Ben does all the work for me! August 24, 2009 at 12:15 pm in reply to: Red Dwarf got us together! #102624 TheLeenParticipant > But do you now share your passionate geekery with one another? :-) Well, yes, although I’m a lot more geeky than he is. Truth is, I did chat him up because I thought he looked like he was into pen-and-paper RPGs and rock music. One of the first thing I did to impress him was to send him a photo of himself photoshopped to look like yoda. It was a sloppy 5 minute job but it worked. I only introduced him to Red Dwarf much later. Hmm :) August 23, 2009 at 12:09 pm in reply to: Red Dwarf got us together! #102593 TheLeenParticipant I met Vincent on the street in front of my office building. There was no geekery involved whatsoever :( August 21, 2009 at 7:11 pm in reply to: ‘Red Dwarf- Animated’…New Online Series #102554 TheLeenParticipant Yeah, if no one else needs the double room, I’d like to switch. Thanks for all the help with this, Jo! August 21, 2009 at 3:40 pm in reply to: ‘Red Dwarf- Animated’…New Online Series #102550 TheLeenParticipant Fair enough. Anyone else want a cheap ticket + double room? August 21, 2009 at 3:14 pm in reply to: ‘Red Dwarf- Animated’…New Online Series #102548 TheLeenParticipant That’d be great. When will you know whether you’re going? August 21, 2009 at 1:06 pm in reply to: Bill Pearson in Deathray #102546 TheLeenParticipant Moon is awesome and everyone should watch it. August 21, 2009 at 7:05 am in reply to: ‘Red Dwarf- Animated’…New Online Series #102540 TheLeenParticipant Someone else had to resell their tickets (over at reddwarf.co.uk) and James seemed to be cool about it. I’m annoyed as well – I planned to go with 3 other people, and now none of them are coming and I’m alone in an expensive double bedroom :P August 20, 2009 at 10:30 pm in reply to: ‘Red Dwarf- Animated’…New Online Series #102527 TheLeenParticipant > Getting veeeeeeeeeery tempted to book for this year?s Dimension Jump?. August 6, 2009 at 9:43 am in reply to: [PLUG] Jump Leads Issue #1 now on the iPhone and iPod Touch! #101929 TheLeenParticipant I don’t have an iThingy, but I’d really really like to read Jump Leads… the book. :x August 5, 2009 at 11:29 am in reply to: Top Ten SF #101882 TheLeenParticipant I’ve seen all of them, but some I wish I hadn’t (some of the remakes). August 4, 2009 at 10:16 am in reply to: Alien prequel #101831 TheLeenParticipant I like the original three Alien films (some more, others less ;)) for being Alien, and I like Resurrection for being Resurrection. It’s different from the old ones, but hey, Sigourney’s crazy-sexy Ripley clone made it worthwhile all by herself, although there were many many small things that I really enjoyed in the film, like, almost the entire cast. I wouldn’t have cast Michael Wincott for the role, but it was still good seeing him up there. And Brad Dourif. And some details that I didn’t much like but there’s (unsurprisingly) few films that don’t have those :P I liked those two hours of my life and I’ve occasionally rewatched it and it’s always been a good time. I know I’m relatively easy to please, and I get why the film pissed of the die-hard Alien fans, but… I really don’t see why everyone’s giving Resurrection such a hard time, overall. August 2, 2009 at 8:13 am in reply to: Alien prequel #101763 TheLeenParticipant > Ali(b)en Haha! Love it! August 1, 2009 at 7:04 am in reply to: Alternative BTE DVD cover #101725 TheLeenParticipant That’s pretty cool. But I prefer the in-character one. I can’t pronounce it. Edit: And I don’t understand it either. According to my dictionary, it can mean anything from “outrageous” over “put-and-out” to “brilliant”… eh? Ben, I really appreciate it!! I’ll message you in facebook tomorrow :D July 17, 2009 at 2:07 pm in reply to: New banner #101222 TheLeenParticipant Is that real? If so, more photos please! July 15, 2009 at 10:05 pm in reply to: What is the movie of the year? #101175 TheLeenParticipant Surely the version with TotBF cut into it is going to be virtually unwatchable in one sitting?? If it takes less time than The Lord of the Rings (SEE)… cakewalk! July 15, 2009 at 1:48 pm in reply to: What is the movie of the year? #101166 TheLeenParticipant Has anyone else seen the Directors Cut of Watchmen? Doesn?t look like it?s going to be released in the UK so I may have to import the blu-ray. I saw it last week and much preferred it to the original. It?s worth getting the Directors cut if only for this scene of Hollis Mason?s death. http://www.comicbookmovie.com/watchmen/news/?a=8531 Or you might NOT get the director’s cut and instead get the ULTIMATE cut that you THOUGHT the director’s cut was going to be. http://geekadelphia.com/2009/07/15/rant-with-watchmen-we-find-out-double-dipping-now-starts-even-before-the-first-version-is-released/ I’ll wait for the full thing anyway… July 13, 2009 at 2:01 pm in reply to: I had a dream…. #101091 TheLeenParticipant In my dream this morning, the G&T people were making their own new Dwarf, and I was assistant something and I was allowed to hold something (might have been a camera) and everything took place in an environment looking like a shopping mall’s childcare unit (playpen ball pit and such). But then I got ill (in a way) (disturbing) and couldn’t take part anymore and went to see doctors instead. Ugh, tragedy. July 11, 2009 at 9:02 am in reply to: Ten Forward #101041 TheLeenParticipant I want this: http://io9.com/5302979/a-picard-lookalike-and-a-sisko-lookalike-open-a-star-trek%20themed-restaurant July 10, 2009 at 2:41 pm in reply to: HELP ME IMPROVE MY ENGLISH #100982 TheLeenParticipant That’s right, but only if the part in the brackets are still part of the sentence (like these). If there’s an entire sentence of its own right inside the brackets, it’s getting its own full stop. (I’m talking about a whole sentence in brackets.) July 8, 2009 at 6:56 am in reply to: Torchwood Using Their Own Brig… #100845 TheLeenParticipant So I guess I have to start watching Torchwood now, for real. July 8, 2009 at 6:55 am in reply to: What is the movie of the year? #100844 TheLeenParticipant Sure as hell not Terminator 4. And I haven’t seen Transformers 2 yet, but I doubt that, too. :p Haven’t seen Coraline yet either, and waiting for Parnassus, Surrogates and Red Sonja. Especially looking forward to Fanboys. (Not sure if they’re technically still “of the year” since we get films with a delay, and the delay is significantly bigger for small/indie productions than for blockbusters) Watchmen was really good, waiting for the cut that’ll include Tales of the Black Freighter and Under the Hood (which was even better than the main film). July 4, 2009 at 8:38 am in reply to: ‘Red Dwarf- Animated’…New Online Series #100750 TheLeenParticipant Complaining is a lot easier than being constructive, I know I know. karcreat, I don’t know the last thing about writing comedy so I can’t help. Also, I’m trying not to read the script. I’d rather see the finished thing, ho ho. Loved the trailer! July 3, 2009 at 8:04 am in reply to: German IT Crowd – episode 2 review inside #100696 TheLeenParticipant A friend of mine works for MTV, and she told another friend of mine (who then told me), that she saw that Comedy Central Germany is going to show The IT Crowd (not iTeam), German dubbing, from September – all three series. The internet says it’s true, too. Yay! More to review :D July 3, 2009 at 6:12 am in reply to: ‘Red Dwarf- Animated’…New Online Series #100693 TheLeenParticipant That wasn’t bad at all. And I was impressed with the voice acting, actually. July 1, 2009 at 5:02 pm in reply to: Blade Runner References pre-Back To Earth #100608 TheLeenParticipant *claps* June 26, 2009 at 9:55 pm in reply to: Michael Jackson has died #100510 TheLeenParticipant I saw it on the news this morning before work. It was a bit surreal. Hard to believe. It was the same when Diana died, or Heath Ledger last year. I used to be a huge fan, HUGE one, when I was, uh, 13-15 or something. I’m not too sad now, not more than about anyone else’s death anyway, but I was looking forward to seeing what would come of his comeback “tour”, and it’s a shame I’ll never know. I feel sorry for his kids and the rest of his family. June 25, 2009 at 5:27 pm in reply to: I can haz John & Tanya #100464 TheLeenParticipant Yes.
