As far as I’m aware, the eps are exactly the same as the regular disc versions.

The extra space wasn’t even used for porn, which is quite tragic really.

Goldeneye… sweet jesus, the memories. I swear, ages 16-18, my mates and I just shot each other mercilessly on this game. Damn good fun though. Used to love just taking the piss with proximity mines, placing them around the body armour, in the hiding places, or better yet, all the re-spawning points, hahaha…. good times.

The mad race for that fucking Golden Gun…

Random Goldeneye memory – my wife bought me an N64 for my 27th birthday – Ebay, console+pad+Goldeneye, ?15 INCLUDING postage. Absolute steal…. and I immediately remembered my mate importing his N64 from Japan, day of release, ?700…. what a difference a decade makes.

Dammit, I’m choking up too! And shattering glass – YES.

I say channel the effort into making one solid, well crafted half hour episode, and if that works and people want more, give it to ’em.

I’ll give a ten minute fan film a watch. I’ll give a half hour fanisode the benefit of the doubt. If you’re going to try and make a 1 and half hour / 2 hour movie straight off the bat, it better be ‘effin spectacular or people won’t stick around for the long haul.

    My two cents…

Yay! Dr Who comic love. Looking forward to reading this. I’ve provided colours for IDW’s Forgotten mini series (and the recently released Dr Who: Autopia, and the upcoming Room With A Deja Vu, and Cold Blooded War), but I’ve not had a chance to look at this one yet. As for the likeness stuff, the BBC aren’t super picky about likenesses, but on the other comics we were told to go back and redo some bits (stuff like the wrong number of buttons on the Doctor’s suit, adding pin stripes, that kind of stuff).

Things changed in the ‘past’ in LOM or A2A are never shown definitively to change the future. Sam’s girlfriend was stated as being saved in the first episode of LOM, but it was never explained how. When Sam was tortured in hospital by an escaped psychiatric patient in series 2 of LOM, it was implied that Sam was pursuing the same guy in the past, but again never specified – more likely that Sam’s midn was just reacting and trying to make sense of the outside stimuli. The final episode of LOM fairly conclusively shows that the 1973 was all in Sam’s head – but saying that Sam awoke with his 1970’s sideburns back in 2007… He spoke of his experiences to Drake before killing himself… but is likely that maybe Sam never awoke from the coma? Thought he awoke, but didn’t… thereby by making the Ashes to Ashes present, 1981-82 setting, and Alex (and her coma in a coma situation) also part of Sam’s own mind?

Hmm. Just mind-fucked meself. I need a lie down.

How can anyone possibly think Summers was an older version of Chris? There was a younger version of Summers there! The older Summers engineered things so that Chris took his younger self’s place.

Bit extreme that he actually killed his younger self, but it certainly stops him interfering.

I always enjoyed the show, although series 3 really petered out. Stuke and Chaplin, well, I see the merits of both, but totally different takes on the character. WOuld have been very interesting to see Chaplin’s take on some of the insane rants Stuke had to bellow out…

“And I’m blind man! Blind and drowning in filthy black pus, aaaaaaarrrgghhhh!”

Within my family for a while there be deadpan shouts of “TEA”… that was quite fun.

I used to love that ol’ Smegazine…

I managed to get a complete set back in the day, and lost the lot in a house move overseas, which sucked. If anyone knows where I could get a replacement set, I’d be grateful… Ebay hasn’t been much good in my experience. Hell, if someone could point me toward some scans it’d be good… as Tonguetied said, there’s bog all online.

In fact, if anyone could even lend me the mags, I’d scan the lot and set up an archive.

I always enjoyed the comics (surprise, me being a fan of funny books). Not so much the two straight episodes adaptations of the first 6 or 7 months, but the original stuff was really distinctive. Nigel Kitching’s artwork in particular has always struck me as fantastic, and I loved the way the comics would mix concepts from the TV series with the novels. “Lister The God” was a great time travel tale that fleshed out the cat history in style, and there were some Jake Bullet noir-esque comics kicking about too. I also enjoyed the deadpan satire of just how bad Red Dwarf USA could have been.

    Ah.. good times, good times…

    Hey Stabby

Excellent fan edit so far mate, your version is pacier and sharper than the original. The grave scene works far better as a pre title sequence. I would have maybe tightened some of the diving bell stuff a wee bit more, but that’s me just being picky. It’s a shame there’s no real way around cutting out Katerina – as pretty as she is, she’s pretty much superfluous to the plot, but moving the ‘cliffhanger’ to her arrival works really well.

Kudos, my cap is doffed etc etc

Can’t see much happening in the way of music cues, as it seems like it’s all library music (theme and incidental’s excluded of course).

It’d be nice to have a retrospective look at the Movie that didn’t happen… maybe some clips of the cast read through, the prep, the storyboards, the failed funding attempts etc etc.

And I know this ain’t gonna happen, but it’d be neat as hell to have PDF’s of the Radio Times and other magazine features from April 09 included on there too, cos I’m a sad act like that…

Well, the sets will get their own amended style anyways – Mel Bibby passed away some years ago, god rest his soul.

Personally I’d like a return to single camera shooting – what can I say, I liked the glossy production values of it.

I would also like to see a return to a show more focussed on the core cast alone. I’ve no interest in seeing the whole Dwarf crew outside of flashbacks.

I’d prefer to see modelwork as opposed to CGI, but I don’t mind the look of the ReMastered Dwarf design.

Finally I’d like to see a mix of good character gags and some sharp comedy one liners and observations – a toning down of the physical and slapstick humour really.

I guess in essence (in my mind) I’m looking for Red Dwarf III with Red Dwarf VII production values.

I would also like the moon on a stick.

As for stuff in Red Dwarf that’s appeared elsewhere… I know that Rimmer’s badge from Series III thru VII was the B Ark captain’s helmet logo (only upside down) from the Hitch-hikers Guide to the Galaxy TV show.

There’s probably more stuff out there somewhere.

Here’s hoping this new episode is great, and ties things up well. And please Doug…. do NOT end this on a cliffhanger. Give it an ending that’s an ending, and if further shows are greenlit later, all the better.
