Didn’t like that line much. Not enough logic behind it to be funny. Lister should have said it in a sarcastic tone. April 16, 2009 at 9:24 am in reply to: Alien 3 #97023 Zombie Jim UndeadParticipant I think Alien 3 pissed me off from the start by immediately killing off Newt, Hicks and Bishop. Have reappraised it in recent years. I do like it much more, especially the special edition – though it’s annoying that they didn’t tidy up the sound in the re-inserted scenes. It’s still a pretty bloody depressing film, though. The Alien effects are horrible…and overall it feels like Scum in Space, guest starring the Alien. April 16, 2009 at 9:18 am in reply to: BtE Episode 1 – The OTHER Directors Cut #97021 Zombie Jim UndeadParticipant Oooh, the cutting of Rimmers shaking hands bit improves the scene no end. Good stuff! April 16, 2009 at 8:58 am in reply to: BtE Episode 1 – The OTHER Directors Cut #97019 Zombie Jim UndeadParticipant Watched first couple of minutes…so far seems good, though cutting out Kryten’s post-card and explanation of where he is makes Listers “surf boy back from broom town” line nonsensical. April 15, 2009 at 3:15 pm in reply to: Chris replaced by a better actor… #96870 Zombie Jim UndeadParticipant “In a misguided attempt to humorously make a point concerning the past actions of Dwain Chambers which are well documented, my own behaviour on the programme constituted off-the-scale idiocy. “In response, Dwain Chambers’ reaction that morning was exemplary. I wish the same could be said for my own behaviour. He deserved better. I deeply regret my actions and unreservedly apologise to Dwain Chambers for them.” Pfffthahahahaha. April 15, 2009 at 3:01 pm in reply to: Wait a minute….this isn’t my fantasy! #96863 Zombie Jim UndeadParticipant > this is a BEAUTIFUL interpretation. Well, thank you. One does one’s best. April 15, 2009 at 2:55 pm in reply to: Wait a minute….this isn’t my fantasy! #96860 Zombie Jim UndeadParticipant Right, well. Only thing I can think of is that Cat’s path to pure elation revolves around him abandoning material obsessions / realising that he’s not the centre of the universe. It’s a bitter pill to swallow but might result in him fulfilling his potential. Kryten’s? Hmm. Maybe his ultimate fantasy is to see Lister happy / have his guilt about the Kochanski secret resolved. In this way, the kids on the bus could be products of his psyche – living out his fantasy of telling Lister the truth. April 15, 2009 at 2:41 pm in reply to: Wait a minute….this isn’t my fantasy! #96856 Zombie Jim UndeadParticipant Ooof, don’t want to step on your toes and / or piss on your chips. Do lock the thread if you’d prefer speculation to wait for the time being. April 15, 2009 at 2:27 pm in reply to: Best Lister moment ever? #96852 Zombie Jim UndeadParticipant > Yeah, that line made me chuckle as well. It?s a pity it was somewhat ruined by him not knowing how to pronounce Austin despite visiting Jane Austin World. True, though that was just an afternoon’s escapade 12 years ago. Plus I doubt he was paying that much attention. April 15, 2009 at 2:12 pm in reply to: Can someone explain… #96844 Zombie Jim UndeadParticipant Rimmer’s northernisms were a bit too good for the character. Felt more like Chris coming through at that moment. April 15, 2009 at 2:10 pm in reply to: Nice touches you noticed in Back To Earth #96843 Zombie Jim UndeadParticipant Oh pis of. April 15, 2009 at 1:58 pm in reply to: Dave pleased with Red Dwarf… #96834 Zombie Jim UndeadParticipant My thoughts exunctly. April 15, 2009 at 1:54 pm in reply to: Dave pleased with Red Dwarf… #96832 Zombie Jim UndeadParticipant I bet we get a few good behind-the-scenes bits on those particular jokes. If they were his / Doug’s idea. April 15, 2009 at 1:41 pm in reply to: Dave pleased with Red Dwarf… #96829 Zombie Jim UndeadParticipant And it also provided us with a couple of the best gags in BtE. Good old crack. April 15, 2009 at 1:40 pm in reply to: Can someone explain… #96828 Zombie Jim UndeadParticipant True that. Saw on t’web the other day – deep-fried pizza, sliced and filled with chips. Commendably shameless. April 15, 2009 at 1:37 pm in reply to: Nice touches you noticed in Back To Earth #96827 Zombie Jim UndeadParticipant I’m sure there’s some equally brilliant explanation as to why I spelled it “aritificial”. April 15, 2009 at 12:46 pm in reply to: Nice touches you noticed in Back To Earth #96820 Zombie Jim UndeadParticipant I liked the mention of the Polymorph having turned into an “aritificial snake”, thus finally excusing the shoddy snake prop! April 15, 2009 at 12:39 pm in reply to: Can someone explain… #96819 Zombie Jim UndeadParticipant I’m amazed by you northern folk. I remember the first time I learned of a “slappy barm”. A pie in a bap? That’s utter madness. April 15, 2009 at 12:37 pm in reply to: Running Times… #96818 Zombie Jim UndeadParticipant The ad break in Part 2 would’ve worked SO much better with a bumper / sting. Could also have tidied up the gag a bit. “I hate three parters, I mean what if I’m out? And what about advert breaks? They always happen at the most inconvenient..” *BUMPER, STING, ADVERTS*. Sorted. April 15, 2009 at 11:54 am in reply to: So… the DVD. #96810 Zombie Jim UndeadParticipant This ‘un April 15, 2009 at 11:37 am in reply to: So… the DVD. #96807 Zombie Jim UndeadParticipant Will be interested to see the deleted scenes…. didn’t we see pics of Kryten in a slightly different suit with a couple of lovely ladies? April 15, 2009 at 11:09 am in reply to: The ENTIRELY Warranted Series X Speculation Thread. #96800 Zombie Jim UndeadParticipant ITV 4 hopefully. It’s a ratings goldmine. April 15, 2009 at 10:51 am in reply to: That free gift that comes with the DVD… #96791 Zombie Jim UndeadParticipant Katerina’s knickers. April 14, 2009 at 11:36 am in reply to: Back to Earth: The Phil Edit NOW ON YOUTUBEZZ!!!! #96591 Zombie Jim UndeadParticipant I enjoyed Back to Earth a great deal…but will be very interested to watch this. Fan edits are good fun. (You fucker). April 14, 2009 at 11:33 am in reply to: Best Lister moment ever? #96587 Zombie Jim UndeadParticipant > Threads often change topic don`t they. And as the scene where Lister and Kochanski are in the car is a rip off from Blade Runner it is perfectly valid to mention it. Hmmm….no, it’s not a “rip-off”. However much you extend a parody / homage, it’s not a rip-off unless you’re passing it off as entirely unconnected and original material. April 14, 2009 at 11:30 am in reply to: Valid Realities #96582 Zombie Jim UndeadParticipant > So according to quantum mechanics our reality was created by the combined Joy Squid hallucination of Rimmer, Lister, Cat & Kryten. Wasn’t actually our reality though, was it? What with the massive Tyrell pyramid on the thames etc etc etc. I’m not convinced that “dreams and hallucinations” are thought to create alternate dimensions in the workings of quantum mechanics. Just decisions / events occurring in the real world. But…at the end of the day, who gives a smeg? April 14, 2009 at 11:07 am in reply to: Best Lister moment ever? #96553 Zombie Jim UndeadParticipant Loved lots of little Lister bits in the specials. Nobody has mentioned it yet, but there’s a nice bit of acting when they’re about to open the portal in episode one and he says he’s not building his hopes up…yet from his little mannerisms and nervous shuffle you can tell that it means everything to him. April 13, 2009 at 11:42 am in reply to: So what’s next? #96290 Zombie Jim UndeadParticipant I would love to see more. The whole spirit of Back to Earth seemed to be that this shouldn’t be the end. April 13, 2009 at 11:38 am in reply to: Back to Earth now has a laugh track!….. #96288 Zombie Jim UndeadParticipant Whenever I see a new sitcom with a laughter track…….it immediately seems old-school comedy. April 13, 2009 at 11:27 am in reply to: So… the DVD. #96287 Zombie Jim UndeadParticipant Definitely definitely the Dave channel intros. For the main episodes and the other repeats…cos I didn’t catch them all with my inaccurate “press button now. No, NOW!” recording technique. April 12, 2009 at 12:21 am in reply to: Brittas Reunion – On a cruise ship… #96004 Zombie Jim UndeadParticipant Nah. When you resurrect once brilliant sitcoms years later they’re invariably shit. April 12, 2009 at 12:06 am in reply to: So…what was strange about the ship’s Parrot? #95992 Zombie Jim UndeadParticipant Hehe. Glad to be getting some closure. And it’s not like there’s anything else to talk about this evening. ;) April 11, 2009 at 10:14 pm in reply to: BtE merchandising #95950 Zombie Jim UndeadParticipant Haha! Excellent! April 11, 2009 at 9:53 pm in reply to: doug naylor: “well, I am confident that everyone will despise me on Saturday! I’m really, really confident” #95945 Zombie Jim UndeadParticipant I’d like to buy him a foaming pint of nut brown ale. April 11, 2009 at 9:52 pm in reply to: BtE merchandising #95944 Zombie Jim UndeadParticipant No point. There would be no Norman Lovett action figure and without that, the entire merchandising process would be pointless. April 11, 2009 at 7:24 pm in reply to: Norm’s post-Dwarf tell-all #95907 Zombie Jim UndeadParticipant > just look how top form he was in series 8 after 10 years since he left in 1988 :P Ah, yes. Norm in Series 8. All the comic talent of a man with head injuries reading a tired joke off a distant beer mat. April 11, 2009 at 7:21 pm in reply to: Doctor Whoooooooooooo, hey! Doctor Who! #95904 Zombie Jim UndeadParticipant Oh and yes…the “knocks four times” thing seemed to point to the sound of drums. April 11, 2009 at 7:14 pm in reply to: Red Dwarf – The Smeg Ups – Is this new? #95894 Zombie Jim UndeadParticipant What he said. Just checked. His comment is “Oh, Dave are running the smeg ups after part 2 tomorrow? Didn’t know that! Gulp!” So I presume it’s not actually BtE smegs. April 11, 2009 at 7:07 pm in reply to: Doctor Whoooooooooooo, hey! Doctor Who! #95883 Zombie Jim UndeadParticipant Thought it was solid good fun. No complaints. But I nearly forgot it was on! Must be something else on this evening that had drawn my attention… April 11, 2009 at 7:05 pm in reply to: Red Dwarf – The Smeg Ups – Is this new? #95880 Zombie Jim UndeadParticipant Unless it’s not. But I presumed it was? April 11, 2009 at 7:04 pm in reply to: Red Dwarf – The Smeg Ups – Is this new? #95878 Zombie Jim UndeadParticipant Oh, it’s new. Smeg ups from Back to Earth. Bobby Llew mentioned it on Twitter. When’s it on? April 11, 2009 at 1:54 pm in reply to: a good cliffhanger ending? #95811 Zombie Jim UndeadParticipant I do hope in a way that they address the Series 8 cliffhanger. It could just be in a line of throwaway dialogue… Rimmer: I’m not hopping through that portal like some kind of demented trans-dimensional kangaroo. Lister: Come on, Rimmer. You’ve done it before. Remember when the ship was disolving and you went into the mirror universe to sort it out? That went pretty well. Rimmer: Went well? I ended up choking to death in a blazing inferno. Cat: Yeah, like he said – an afternoon well spent. April 11, 2009 at 11:38 am in reply to: Opinions Elsewhere… #95791 Zombie Jim UndeadParticipant I really hope Doug and co don’t pay too much attention to online feedback. It’s always massively skewed towards negative. April 11, 2009 at 11:34 am in reply to: a good cliffhanger ending? #95790 Zombie Jim UndeadParticipant The cliffhanger didn’t bother me at all. I believe I let out an audible “GAH!” as I really wanted to see what happened next. So it had its desired effect. April 11, 2009 at 11:32 am in reply to: Review in the Times #95789 Zombie Jim UndeadParticipant “But for decades, being an adolescent Red Dwarf fan was seen as about as low as you could sink, socially, without actually having a bell tied around your neck.” Oh cunt off. April 10, 2009 at 9:01 pm in reply to: There are currently 55 users and 117 guests online. #95741 Zombie Jim UndeadParticipant When oh when will we get some idea of viewing figures? April 10, 2009 at 7:13 pm in reply to: Things Norm is right about #95736 Zombie Jim UndeadParticipant win. April 10, 2009 at 7:12 pm in reply to: Back to Earth in-character retail vids! #95735 Zombie Jim UndeadParticipant Is it? May well be. Them folks and their fangled viral internets. April 10, 2009 at 6:46 pm in reply to: Things Norm is right about #95731 Zombie Jim UndeadParticipant I think they might have invited him to take part in Back to Earth if he didn’t have hair like a paintbrush. I hear they were planning a whole episode based around Holly inspecting a tea-bag found on the underside of the ship. April 10, 2009 at 6:42 pm in reply to: Back to Earth in-character retail vids! #95730 Zombie Jim UndeadParticipant All seems a bit desperate. But if it does boost sales in any way then I spose it can only aid prospects of more Dwarf. Author Replies Viewing 50 replies - 51 through 100 (of 612 total) 1 2 3 … 11 12 13
