They’re still different series. As is VI.

I would personally prefer Waiting for God second and BoP third.

I, II, and VI at 30, 30, and 25, respectively? Am I not thinking straight?

    Seb,

but this is still the anniversary year (of not one, but two series in fact!)

Surely that number should be three?

That is the mystery of who put Samsara at #1 solved then.

Once this evening’s Dwarfcast is published I will gladly further clarify my position on this further, which is something I didn’t do while called in because words are hard.

I’m going to make a guess that Doug would be a little wiser on how hard to work on getting a movie this time around. Maybe not, though.

Speaking of skiing a piss, surely every aspect of skiing, including the actual skiing bit, crashing, getting on and off the lifts, etc. would all be quite strange.

Also why the fuck would you wait in lines anymore?

That’s a nice selection. I’d replace Samsara with Officer Rimmer or something, though. Back to Reality is a no-brainer.

If I was making the selection, I’d probably go with Queeg/Fathers & Suns or The Beginning/Polymorph/Samsara or Give & Take/Back to Reality/Siliconia or Mechocracy. Seems strange to pick two from XI and one from XII rather than one each from X-XII.

This only complicates the matter of determining what Rimmer saw under the sheets in the mirror universe.

In the universe where Red Dwarf is currently happening, hasn’t Kochanski always looked like Chloe Annett?

The VIII Dwarf doesn’t have a giant-ass rock in the side of it, right?

Holly was part of the ship’s original design specifications, not a life form that needed to be excluded from bringing everybody back to life, so that was the first set of nanobots that brought him back, not the second.

Also,Kochanski not being brought back is about as justifiable as Lister not being brought back.

I don’t think my TV does that, and even if it did, it’s important to note that playing it on the original proper rate would also not be right, as the slowdown is minor because the correction was made but it wasn’t enough. It’s a slowdown that by the end adds maybe ten or twenty seconds at most, not six minutes.

As I also own X on Amazon and have watched clips from it online and on BritBox, I can entirely verify that it is much more dreadful at the slightly slower rate.

I mean, supposedly you could just target the chest area and send it forward through evolution a good number of years and we could assume that tits evolve in the direction of increasing size.

    PETE PART EIGHT

Pete steps on the crushed remains of the time wand, accidentally activating it and giving Kochanski a boob job. Unfortunately, this boob job has made each of her boobs as large as her. Of which there are now eight, by the way. Can she get her old self back, and does she even want to?

It’s sort of the time drive resetting to its original loop vs you resetting to your original loop?

Also, it’s breaking the laws of causality. Nobody said it was supposed to make sense what does what.

in reply to: Series VII Highlights #227235

    I think I’ve got it.

Either the future ship destroying Starbug destroyed the time drive or Rimmer did just in time, and that’s what made the loop break – destruction of the time drive – which is why it’s still consistent with Kennedy, since the Time Drive wasn’t destroyed in that kerfuffle.

Why does Starbug explode at the end of Out of Time then? Is that just the timeline resetting?

It absolutely bothers me that shooting your past self both keeps you alive but destined not to become that person and kills your past self for good right then and there in the same episode.

I always loved the ‘picking on the chickens’ line – partly because I’m vegetarian and the way I see it, we do pretty much pick on the chickens.

Also, Kryten shrieking “MISTER LISTER!” from the corridor in Epideme was always an excellent moment for me, especially because when it happens I’ve usually just forgotten that he’s dead in the relief that they’ve defeated Epideme as well.

    Series XIII Episode 1:

Rimmer’s glad to be back in his own universe. Something’s a little off, though: everybody’s being nice to him, even Cat. Instead of the usual “Hey let’s put Rimmer in a dangerous situation” jokes he instead makes jokes about staying behind so Rimmer can go on. This is all just a bit weird, so he takes a stroll through sone of the engine decks. Suddenly, he sees a massive container marked “SAMSARA”. It hits him: this isn’t his universe. Here, the Samsara wasn’t reprogrammed, rather it crashed in a horrible accident on the same moon, so the crew had decided to pick up the good drive and try it, only once they had it they couldn’t get rid of else it would punish them. Now Rimmer has to make a choice about whether he wants to stay or leave, and if he’s nice enough, will the karma drive alter reality so that he skips out to one of the universes he’s trying to find where he isn’t a failure?
