We have New India here in Indy – there are others, but New India is delicious and affordable, so why bother, I figure. Even my picky friend from out of state was impressed. Any of you come through, I’ll eat there with you.

Not familiar with this fellow, but it’s good to see an older, wiser type in the role. If I can’t have Chris back.

OK, just to stick my nose in and add another dimension to this (or yelling, depending on the outcome), how do you feel about the movie version of “V” as compared/opposed to the graphic novel? I haven’t read it, I’ve only seen the movie. Do they have much in common? And what about quality comparison?

Loved Hot Fuzz immediately. The moment where it clicked for me was at the bad play where the cast are singing from the Baz Luhrman movie and Nick’s and Danny’s faces. I laughed myself sick.

“Somehow.” And this, kids, is how sci-fi was born – “Somehow, there has to be something worse than a monster … I know, the asshole doctor who created him!”

(Don’t mind me, I’m just missing some sleep. Stupid epiphanies with dumb timing. I just want an episode with Cat race survivors …)

If 8 had been the end of the show, I’d be kind of pissed at the change. But knowing there’s more after and it’s back to more dramady and sci-fi allows me to think of 8 as a kind of wacky house party “break” for all involved. Just don’t ask me who’s Kid and who’s Play.

    True that.

You can tell the level of excitement of my frugal life by how glad I am to get my weekly download of this podcast. :-P

Now that they like 7 (so far at least), I wonder what they’ll think about yet another drastic tonal change for 8 …

Is anyone else surprised Heath and Angela are liking S7 as much as they are so far?

I don’t mind it; it’s my least favorite series, but even “meh” Red Dwarf fares better than the best episode of Two and a Half Men. I even like Kochanski and don’t mind so much that Lister’s a genetic cul-de-sac. But I’m kind of surprised the newbies are responding so positively. But in a good way.

I can’t wait ’til they hear the audio of IWCD. That’s always a pleasant experience in especially the initial listen.

Of course, the best use of The Shat and that wing episode was when he guested in “Third Rock” as the Big Giant Head and they asked him how his flight was. He answered something about this thing out on the wing … and Dick (John Lithgow, who was in the remake of that TZ some 30 years later) replies, “I had the same thing happen to me!”

One of my favorite bits of the Introcast was their disclaimer that essentially boiled down to “yeah, yeah, ya filthy animals, we know Chris Barrie shows up again ’cause we’ve seen RDX DVDs, so we’ll hold off on crying just now that he’s gone.” LOL.

That fucking hitchhiker one. I saw it the first time when I was 11 – I was watching it at night and my damn mother, who’d been gone to the store, drove up quietly and saw through the window I was watching it and of course recognized it. And so she sneaked to the window and tapped at it at a bad moment, and then I couldn’t watch it again for a few years. It still gives me the willies to watch it.

Well, that’s just silly anyway. It’s better to spend your time looking stuff up you like that contents you rather than expending effort going around deliberately hating on other people’s likes. After 17 years online I still don’t get why there are adults who don’t realize this. I guess their own lives aren’t hard enough.

I sound like somebody’s mother. Mine probably.

Hey, as each actor has at least one son; they could film flashbacks that way. Although it’d probably get weird when Lister is almost twice as tall and years older than Rimmer … but that can be explained away by timey-wimey. Or that Rimmer’s boothing has just been working really super well …

I think ACS is rather a Midwest movie – other Midwesterners I know largely like it and can relate their childhoods to a lot in it. That’s not to say nobody else CAN, but I do think region plays a little into how substantive you find it. Also, your time period – I grew up in the 70s, but we lived in a rural area and I spent most of my time with grandparents and their friends, so there’s a lot in ACS that matches stories they used to tell to entertain me as a little kid, from the 1930s and 40s.

Uh … We could eat at St. Elmo’s, with it’s world-famous sob-inducing, burning shrimp sauce. Then it’s off to the largest, ugliest indoor football stadium in North America for churc- I mean, football. Then of course, there’s the speedway, or some shopping. For you there’s the symphony led by maybe the youngest conductor in North America, or one of our several playhouses.

Actually, it’s pretty good around here … if you have regular disposable income to work with. Which can be a problem. :-)
