This thread is like when BTL got shit in the year 2000. I’m sure we can raise the tone together!

I’m currently rewatching XI in recording order. I think it is quite good. Krysis is mah favourite episode.

All the TV listings for III, IV, V and VI were numbered in the Radio Times. As soon as the numbers started appearing on screen the TV listings dropped them.

I think Backwards is better purely for the Ace Rimmer stuff but both novels are best in their abridged audiobook form I think. That said, unabridged new Chris Barrie recordings are still top of my Christmas list. Come on boffins – sort it out!

That Radio Times article brought me right back to January 1997. I must’ve read that Kochanski was gonna appear as a hologram and then thought to myself ‘really, that explains everything’. I then probably listened to Kula Shaker and had a wank – not much changes in 20 years.

Wasn’t there going to be a High & Low audience reaction article at one point. We all had fun on Twitter discussing it – I didn’t get to bed until ten past the eleven.

I really enjoy most of Craig’s stand up and his audiobook of The Log is a bit of harmless fun.

On Bobby’s periscope there’s a bit more UKTV live frolics with Doug.

I wore that T shirt on a non school uniform day in 1993 and no one batted an eyelid (I was 28, no I was 13). I wouldn’t wear it now because people seem to have become over sensitive to shit like this.

Brilliant! Having that DVD in my hand is my biggest ambition. Last time the US had to wait a couple of months and probably didn’t even see the show broadcast, the twats. I live in America now so I will be watching the new series on skype at 3 in the afternoon.

The only bands I know of that have declared their admiration of Red Dwarf are Gerard from My Chemical Romance, Carl Barat from The Libertines and Eternal. I have never heard Oasis say they like the show (as claimed by Patrick Stewart during Red Dwarf night) and I watch a lot of Oasis interviews on YouTube because I refuse to accept the 90s are over.

Actually smug mode cancelled because according to John’s Xtended Revisited article a separating Starbug model was built but never filmed. That would be interesting to see.

All new Rob/Doug/Ed commentaries would make this a must buy. Even better would be if they released the commentaries as podcasts like Graham Linehan and Arthur Mathews did a few years back.

I find these things to be pretty slow burning. I listened to the first four episodes of The Tertiary Phase in 2004 then gave up. In 2011 The Pod Delusion did an excellent Douglas Adams tribute and that’s when I caught up on the other radio shows and discovered The Salmon Of Doubt, which is up there with IWCD as one of my all time faves.

Although I haven’t read the sixth book this new series is a welcome surprise to me, mainly because I thought Dirk Maggs did such a good job of series 3,4 & 5.

I recommend the instant reaction dwarf casts but I still get a lot of pleasure from BTE and X. I would guess that there’ll be a trailer along for XI in about two months if the run up to X is anything to go by. Having rinsed the heck out of the Dave shows my favourite scenes are from Dear Dave. The Subbuteo scene and the dunking biscuits in the fish tank scene. But overall I love that Red Dwarf is still here and is still weird and funny – those are the reasons I became a fan way back in series two.

I think the Bottom dub is in series one episode four where Richie says ‘thieving bastard yobbos’. We are lucky to have Red Dwarf on DVD unbutchered. I won’t even consider collecting Only Fools And Horses until it’s released as broadcast for example.

I associate merchandise with the shallow Dwarf years specifically 98 – 2000. Good merchandise would be welcome but those series VII and VIII T shirts were rubbish apart from ‘Just call me badass!’.
Have any fans designed their own BTE/X T shirts? Two suggestions might be Not Mark Benton drinking coffee (Dimension Skids Happen This Time Of Year) and Hougey the Rougey with his Mollie-D (Not If It’s A Schue Pastry You Won’t).

I remember at Dimension Jump 97 Doug hinted that Oasis might be interviewed for the A-Z. I would love to hear Noel Gallagher’s opinion of the show.

Universe Challenge is the best thing of the whole night because of Chris Barrie’s Packalakadakdak impression at the start. ‘Bloody students’.
