November 29, 2012 at 7:54 pm in reply to: Red Dwarf at Christmas #204732 Bob LoblawParticipant Marooned? It’s winter-y at least. May 21, 2012 at 4:04 pm in reply to: Community #116426 Bob LoblawParticipant There are examples where shows have maintained or improved the quality after their creator or showrunner has left. However, I don’t see Community being one of them. While I still expect it to be better than most comedies on right now, due to the cast and remaining writers, I highly doubt it will reach the heights it has achieved over the past 3 seasons. Dan Harmon was a showrunner in the style of David Milch or Aaron Sorkin, meaning he had a hand in pretty much every aspect of the show. April 8, 2012 at 11:16 pm in reply to: Doctor Who Series 7 #116239 Bob LoblawParticipant To whom it concerns, 3 eps of Doctor Who nominated in its category for the Hugo’s (The Doctor’s Wife, A Good Man Goes To War, The Girl Who Waited). However, Community’s ‘Remedial Chaos Theory’ has also been nominated, and is the clear winner in my eyes. March 9, 2012 at 10:48 pm in reply to: Community #115863 Bob LoblawParticipant If you haven’t seen it yet, I’d highly recommend the recent Paley panel (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TFb6kmzKpxQ). Dan Harmon talks about being glad that it is now known that no matter which show goes in at their 8pm slot, up against the juggernaut that is Big Bang Theory, it won’t do great numbers, as has been proven by 30 Rock in the last few months. Based on what I’ve seen and read online, NBC are actually promoting the return of the show a lot more than most fans thought they would, based on their history of not mentioning Community if at all possible, so that’s got to be a good sign. March 9, 2012 at 10:30 pm in reply to: Community #115860 Bob LoblawParticipant @Carlito, Although it’s coming back for the rest of S3, we still won’t know if S4 is happening until May. But the producers seem to be semi-confident based on recent statement. Glad to see so much love for the show in here, it has filled the Lost-shaped hole in my heart. For anyone who wants to get a taste, or just need something awesome to pass the time, this channel is streaming all the episodes back to back on a loop: http://veetle.com/index.php/channel/view#4db4dbecb1f0c (Just hit remind me later. I’d always imagined Stannis as Christopher Eccleston, and from that decided Renly would be David Tennant. Even my imagination is lazy. I really need to swap soon if I’m to make the arrangements in time, so Paul, I’m happy to swap as soon as possible. November 24, 2011 at 2:49 pm in reply to: SWAP 2 16th December tickets for ANY OTHER DATE #113369 Bob LoblawParticipant Ach, sorry Paul but since Danny got in first with his request I’m kinda obliged to swap with him. You good with that Danny F? November 18, 2011 at 6:32 pm in reply to: SWAP 2 16th December tickets for ANY OTHER DATE #113328 Bob LoblawParticipant Paul, as I said above, I can swap my two 20th Jan tickets for two 16th Dec tickets. Since Kris got in there before me with danny f he has dibs on those, so we could swap? Although I guess for both swaps to happen and for everyone to happy Kris would need to confirm that he can indeed swap so we should just hold off ’til we hear from him again. November 16, 2011 at 6:17 pm in reply to: SWAP 2 16th December tickets for ANY OTHER DATE #113315 Bob LoblawParticipant I can do that Danny. My two are for Jan 20th. November 6, 2011 at 1:13 am in reply to: First timer – which episode? #113250 Bob LoblawParticipant I’m not sure it’s all that important which episode comes first, people tend to take to it or not. For example, my first episode was Pete, Part 2. My brother saw Red Dwarf was coming on TV and said to me: “Oh you should watch this show, it’s really funny. Let’s see…oh, it’s the one with the dinosaur, that’s the best one!’ (Makes me think of a line from Community: ‘Oh and for the record, there was an episode of Happy Days where a guy literally jumped over a shark, and it was THE BEST one.’) So in conclusion, Backwards. October 5, 2011 at 2:00 pm in reply to: Dr Who Series 6 #113106 Bob LoblawParticipant > I guess I just bigged (is there really no such words as bigged?? I use it all the time!) I believe the word you’re looking for is embiggen. That is a far more cromulent word. July 23, 2011 at 10:00 pm in reply to: Torchwood 4 Confirmed #112768 Bob LoblawParticipant I’m enjoying it, too. It’s a lot different in tone from CoE but I don’t think that has to be a bad thing. I feel like I’m getting too distracted by recognising the American actors to actually decide whether they’re any good. ‘It’s Pratt from ER! It’s Newman from Seinfeld! It’s Claire from Six Feet Under! It’s that woman from Dollhouse!’ January 25, 2011 at 2:22 pm in reply to: Great 21st Century TV Themes #111410 Bob LoblawParticipant Community is indeed one of the greatest shows that ever was. February 16, 2010 at 1:04 pm in reply to: 22 today, and all that… #108810 Bob LoblawParticipant My first episode was a repeat of Pete: Part 1, shown to me by my big brother, who insisted – “Red Dwarf’s really funny, you’ll really like it. Oh, it’s the dinosaur one on tonight, that’s the best one!” February 12, 2010 at 5:46 pm in reply to: Pixar: Up, and a Toy Story 3 trailer #108779 Bob LoblawParticipant I laughed a lot during that. Don’t see Pixar making a bad film at this point. February 7, 2010 at 5:09 pm in reply to: We’d better do a LOST thread, then… #108682 Bob LoblawParticipant In the second part of the interview I linked to earlier, Lindelof says that MIB is not in Locke’s body, while Cuse confirms it is smokey. Could just be lying. February 7, 2010 at 3:46 pm in reply to: We’d better do a LOST thread, then… #108677 Bob LoblawParticipant I think one of the things that makes LOST so great is all theorising and debating it brings up from episode to episode. I feel like people watching the complete box set through in a couple of months will miss out on all the other parts of the LOST universe. Oh, and this made me laugh. A lot.
