I need to find it, as I’ve commissioned a friend to paint the design on my jacket and she needs some references. May 24, 2011 at 6:36 pm in reply to: Terra Nova #112348 Plastic PercyParticipant Surely this is the baddies plot in the 1974 Doctor Who serial ‘Invasion of the Dinosaurs’? And the basic premise of 2000ad’s ‘Flesh!’. April 28, 2011 at 6:54 pm in reply to: Space Tourism #112067 Plastic PercyParticipant Ah, screw the whole thing. April 5, 2011 at 8:55 am in reply to: Space Tourism #111705 Plastic PercyParticipant I don’t want to be on the first ship out, facing all those unknown dangers. When we’ve properlly subjugated those scary monsters by introducing them to alcohol, religion or simply enslaving them, then I’ll go. November 22, 2010 at 1:38 pm in reply to: Things found through Red Dwarf Google Alerts… #111010 Plastic PercyParticipant Big Finish Productions do a range of ‘Sapphire & Steel’ audio adventures. They are set sometime after their last TV adventure and Sapphire and Steel have been ‘reborn’ into new incarnations, in order to explain why they now look and sound like David Warner and Susannah Harker. September 20, 2010 at 10:24 pm in reply to: “Pete” was meant to go before “Krytie TV” #110760 Plastic PercyParticipant After a bit of thought: The End – Parallel Universe: Year One Backwards – The Last Day: Year Two Camille – Back to Reality: Year Three Psirens – Tikka to Ride: Year Four Stoke Me a Clipper – Pete: Year Five Only the Good…: Year Six Back to Earth: Year Fifteen This is based on Rimmer’s comment of being in effective command of Red Dwarf for nearly four years in ‘Holoship’, Lister turning 28 around ‘Tikka to Ride’ and there being a twelve month gap between ‘Pete (Part 2)’ and ‘Only the Good…’, seeing as Hollister has spent a year in the Hole to get away from Rimmer and Lister, plus they’ve been in prison long enough to earn parole. Additional: I reckon it’s the first anniversay of Rimmer’s death in ‘Thanks for the Memory’ due to there being only one candle on the cake Lister baked for Rimmer. September 19, 2010 at 5:41 pm in reply to: “Pete” was meant to go before “Krytie TV” #110739 Plastic PercyParticipant Possibly, we don’t know. Holly might have released Lister EXACTLY three million years to the date of the accident. September 17, 2010 at 10:42 pm in reply to: “Pete” was meant to go before “Krytie TV” #110726 Plastic PercyParticipant With the timeline of series I, I put it that the events of ‘The End’ up until ‘Thanks for the Memory’ take place over the period of one year, if they’re counting Rimmer’s Death Day as being the day Lister was revived from stasis. Also, a year or so must logically pass between ‘Parallel Universe’ and ‘Backwards’ (to accomodate Lister’s pregnancy and the rebuild of Kryten) and Lister states that ‘D.N.A.’ takes place exactly one year after the events of ‘Polymorph’. I’ve tried working out a Red Dwarf timeline of sorts, will post it eventually. Or not. September 16, 2010 at 7:27 pm in reply to: “Pete” was meant to go before “Krytie TV” #110722 Plastic PercyParticipant Also, ‘Blue’ works better if you watch it before ‘Duct Soup’. In ‘Blue’ it is clear that Kochanski has only been on the ship a short time – she is still looking for a way back to her Dave and Kryten has yet to inform her of his ship rules. By ‘Duct Soup’ enough time has passed for her to work out a detailed time table of the noises the pipes next to her bed make and for the crew to have raided a derelict in order for Lister to find the dress and makeup for Kochanski. June 26, 2010 at 11:59 am in reply to: IT Crowd Series 4 #110027 Plastic PercyParticipant I don’t think it’s out of character, Dungeons and Dragons is hardly the epitome of social networking. A group of shy nerds, sitting in a dark room pretending to be over people. June 21, 2010 at 7:38 am in reply to: IT Crowd Series 4 #110017 Plastic PercyParticipant Really enjoyed the episode, favourite line has got to be Moss’s “it’s like somebody split up with Stalin”. April 6, 2010 at 10:56 pm in reply to: Doctor Who – Series 5 – Broadcast Discussion (NO SPOILERS) #109278 Plastic PercyParticipant In reply to the question what Prisoner Zero was originally arrested for, seeing as all he did for most of the episode was stand around snarling, he was probably arrested for loitering. April 2, 2010 at 12:25 pm in reply to: Smeg Ups I havn’t seen before #109203 Plastic PercyParticipant A few of these I remember from the Smeg Ups/Outs tapes. Specifically, Craig tapping the cardboard wall in ‘Meltdown’. Bobby breaking the vase in ‘Legion’ and Bobby declaring he’s cacked his pants in ‘Quarantine’. Awesome find though with this! January 7, 2010 at 9:56 pm in reply to: Get your pedant hats on, then… #107913 Plastic PercyParticipant I wonder if anyone else was mentioned in the Cat Bible. Perhaps Rimmer has become their figure of Satan (Lister is their god, and back in the days of Frankenstein Rimmer was pretty much Lister’s adversary). January 3, 2010 at 1:07 pm in reply to: Opinions, please… #107701 Plastic PercyParticipant I can only echo the comments above. Series 1, like all first seasons, has a bit of trouble finding its feet. On the one hand you have wonderful stories like ‘Small Worlds’, ‘Out of Time’ and ‘Captain Jack Harkness’, but then you get stories that would only seem adult to pubescent boys. I.e. ‘Day One’ has a monster that is powered by sex and ‘Cyberwoman’ has a cyberwoman complete with metal brassiere and three-inch steel heels. By the time Series 2 and ‘Children of Earth’ came around, Torchwood had found its feet and has been consistantly good ever since. November 26, 2009 at 6:31 pm in reply to: Holoship Xtended #106581 Plastic PercyParticipant I think you’re right. I do remember reading that little snippet in the ‘Red Dwarf Programme Guide, 3rd Edition’ years and years ago. November 26, 2009 at 6:22 pm in reply to: New Holly #106579 Plastic PercyParticipant I’d like to see Hattie back as Holly. I know it’s a bit late now, but it’d be nice to readdress the balance and give her the exposition gobbledegook so Kryten can get on with the hoovering. November 25, 2009 at 7:14 pm in reply to: Holoship Xtended #106519 Plastic PercyParticipant I thought a lot of the deleted scenes from ‘Holoship’ were mainly model shots. It’s a shame we didn’t see more of the Enlightenment as it was a very nice looking model. Although the deleted shot of it unfolding looked terrible. Also, can someone answer why Rimmer is teleported directly into Nirvannah’s quarters instead of a teleport bay or something? Though I don’t suppose a teleport bay would have a pitcher of wine around though to demonstrate the point of Rimmer having the ability to touch and taste. November 9, 2009 at 2:15 pm in reply to: Torchwood #105849 Plastic PercyParticipant Being Mickey Smith – CONS: Are treated like shit by stupid, selfish girlfriend. Picked on by wheelie bins. PROS: Will end up as a cool Kyle Reese style resistance fighter, only with a bigger gun. November 9, 2009 at 2:17 am in reply to: Craig Charles unlove #105841 Plastic PercyParticipant I Screamed When I Saw Your Final Destination Was Another Shitty Saw Movie Last Summer versus Jason On A Plane Part 4789 in London November 9, 2009 at 2:11 am in reply to: Torchwood #105840 Plastic PercyParticipant Boom Town does end though with Mickey and Rose’s relationship problems still hanging in the air. Rose runs off to the Doctor instead of Mickey and when she comes back looking for him he mearly watches her from afar then leaves silently, presumably back to London. But all this is ignored to an extent when he comes running back to her in ‘The Parting of the Ways’. October 25, 2009 at 12:30 pm in reply to: Just finished watching the Bodysnatcher documentaries.. #105295 Plastic PercyParticipant I think his money and power, plus the stories of what he was like on set if you upset him, definately make him an ‘Alpha Male’. October 25, 2009 at 12:29 pm in reply to: Spot the difference! #105294 Plastic PercyParticipant Who made those scary, scary Muppets? Tim Burton? October 24, 2009 at 11:00 pm in reply to: I know this isn’t really a G&T-type topic… #105258 Plastic PercyParticipant If it helps, the novels set Red Dwarf’s disappearence in 2181 I believe. Have they ever shown Darren and Heather even interacting before? I can’t think of anytimes when the two characters would have crossed paths. Darren mainly has storylines with the Foxes wheras Heather is usually in storylines with Minty or the Mitchell clan. October 24, 2009 at 12:49 pm in reply to: Doctor Who In An Exciting Adventure With The Spoilers #105215 Plastic PercyParticipant I think it’d be fun if the Doctor bumped into Amy for the first time in a queue at B&Q, picking up some MDF and blue paint to rebuild the TARDIS. I wonder if he’d try and take advantage of the over 60’s discount. October 24, 2009 at 12:05 pm in reply to: Spaced : pop-culture references #105214 Plastic PercyParticipant I believe on the commentary for the series 2 DVD, Pegg and Stevenson mention how they did filmed the Matrix parody before spoofing the film became popular, so when it was released other shows had already done it and they just looked like they were following the crowd. Damn good movie and TV series though. John Simm’s cameo was good in the first episode (was he a household name by this point? It was about 2000/2001 they filmed series 2 so he’d done ‘Human Traffic’ and ‘Clocking Off’ and was just about to appear in ’24 Hour Party People’) October 23, 2009 at 3:32 pm in reply to: Worlds Dumbest Criminal #105183 Plastic PercyParticipant There’s a chap in America currently serving a life sentence due to the three strikes system. His third strike was stealing a jelly donut. October 23, 2009 at 2:49 pm in reply to: Doctor Who In An Exciting Adventure With The Spoilers #105182 Plastic PercyParticipant I assume that too Karl, but with all the rumours flying around about the TARDIS being destroyed and rebuilt/regrown by the Doctor does make me think we’ll get an excuse for the change in the TARDIS prop. I’m not bothered one way or another though. October 23, 2009 at 3:03 am in reply to: Doctor Who In An Exciting Adventure With The Spoilers #105172 Plastic PercyParticipant Interestingly, the photo of the new TARDIS interior is a closeup of an image that includes the TARDIS Police Box shell itself. What’s interesting specifically is that the prop they used for that scene is the old one from the Eccleston/Tennant Era and not the new prop seen in the first location images featuring the 11th Doctor and Amy. This to me implies that either the 10th Doctor recieves a new Control Room set as a Christmas prezzie, or the 11th Doctor alters the interior before altering the outer shell of the machine itself. October 18, 2009 at 10:19 am in reply to: shitty jobs #104980 Plastic PercyParticipant I’m a student and I’ve actually applied for a job at McDonalds… If they reject me, Christ being rejected by fucking McDonalds, I’m gonna have to go on the game. According to a website I found I can make up to ?160 an hour as an escort for middle-aged divorcees. September 30, 2009 at 2:37 am in reply to: Jim Bexley Speed #103879 Plastic PercyParticipant Now I think about it, does anyone have any idea who played ol’ Jimmy boy in the photo he ‘happily’ posed with Lister for? September 29, 2009 at 7:56 pm in reply to: Jim Bexley Speed #103859 Plastic PercyParticipant Perhaps in the future there was another celebrity that had the name James Speed and Jim used his middle professionally to differentiate from the other guy. September 16, 2009 at 6:19 pm in reply to: I. Am. The Doctor! #103290 Plastic PercyParticipant I say buy ‘The Invasion’. ‘The War Games’ is good, but towards the middle and end it does start to feel a little bit padded out. Episodes 9 & 10 at the end are absolute belters though. September 15, 2009 at 10:16 am in reply to: Doug on Carpool #103271 Plastic PercyParticipant He’s down on wikipedia as appearing in a future episode. Then again, Wikipedia once described African Americans as “gay niggers” so I don’t know what to believe.
