It gets the whole cast involved as well. I’m burning Marooned for the Winter. But if I could vote here Iād remove Holoship, just because I first saw the episode after Iād read the script and was disappointed that the Holly/Rimmer scene where heās in a rush and she goes slowly through a polite version of their conversation was deleted. But I canāt vote. So I beg whoever can to keep me in mind when they make this crucial choice. I like both episodes but I do hate the meme quite a lot so yes I’ll knock out Holoship. Recompositing effect shots is on the line, but creating brand new CGI effects is crossing it. Even if the execution is much more restrained and the goal is purely recreation, the principle is the same. (Unless they went the āoptional extraā route of course.) It is optional, they put both versions on the disc. Same with the Doctor Who blurays, which is fortunate because they only ever seem to update the episodes that already have perfect VFX, like Timelash & the one with the giant rat July 20, 2025 at 2:20 pm in reply to: Your Unpopular Red Dwarf Opinions #308947 sleepeyParticipant I ripped off the plot of Demons & Angels for a creative writing thing when I was 9 & I still feel guilty when I watch it July 16, 2025 at 7:39 pm in reply to: Your favourite episode-ending punchlines #308810 sleepeyParticipant July 16, 2025 at 2:28 pm in reply to: Your favourite episode-ending punchlines #308795 sleepeyParticipant So I said to the guy, I said… (flicks cigarette) don’t forget what you’re gonna be putting at the bottom of the list as the last thing you’ll have written you’ll be going to have doing July 15, 2025 at 11:54 am in reply to: I want to talk to you about my Vulva. #308723 sleepeyParticipant I want to talk to you about Primenis July 11, 2025 at 4:47 am in reply to: Your Unpopular Red Dwarf Opinions #308577 sleepeyParticipant Kochanski spends most of VII as “the new girl” & most of VIII as “the wallpaper” but when she’s actually allowed to be funny she’s my absolute fav & I really wish she had another series to settle in & just be a weird nerd. I donāt know how to interpret that other than as a jab at Chibnall ā unless that was there because Chibnall personally felt regret and asked for it to be put in. “You won’t… but she knows” Basically reiterating to 13 & the audience that their relationship was valid & mutual even if they couldn’t make anything more of it. May 31, 2025 at 11:53 pm in reply to: Russell Two Davies #306875 sleepeyParticipant When the Rani explains that the Masterās gene explosion genocide thing was the cause of the bigenerations and the sterility and the finaleās events and that it basically did kill all the Time Lords eventually, with extinction being a little slower, I took that to maybe be meta-commentary that the show itself was mortally wounded from the Chibnall-era and succumbed to its wounds eventually. I donāt necessarily subscribe to that take myself but Iām wondering if that was meant to be a deliberate meta-shot from RTD or if Iām reading into it a bit. He kept all the Chibnall stuff canon which I really really respected, but then to be like, yep, this is all the Chibnall Masterās fault felt like a 180 on that. I really don’t think that’s the case at all. RTD may be off his game recently but I don’t think he’s dumb enough to both a) buy into all that internet-brained stuff about the Chibnall era being an unprecedented turbo-disaster, and b) take something he thinks has hurt the show & weave it even tighter into the ongoing narrative. May 31, 2025 at 9:02 pm in reply to: Russell Two Davies #306858 sleepeyParticipant You know what… that was alright š First bit felt like a bit of a cop out but once the episode settled in I enjoyed it. But āThe Twin Dilemmaā is pretty indefensible. It’s indefensible in the sense that it’s completely middle-of-the-road for the era & not worth getting worked up about, despite also not being remotely as bad or crazy as everyone says. May 24, 2025 at 7:56 pm in reply to: Russell Two Davies #306595 sleepeyParticipant The core idea & execution of them living in a fascist’s idea of utopia, & it inevitably crumbling in contact with reality, is really excellent. I’m also enjoying the Rani’s return, even if they haven’t quite done enough to make her more than The Master 2 so far. Of course the whole thing topples over into RTD nonsense by the end but I still really enjoyed the episode, & will continue to like it for exactly one week, until it’s permanently bolted to the side of some stupid garbage & rendered unsalvageable (not that I’m pre-judging part 2 or anything) May 23, 2025 at 1:55 am in reply to: General questions about Last human. #306513 sleepeyParticipant It’s an imperative, challenging the (presumed) human reader to “last” to the end Did you know if you buy a new copy now it doesn’t have the silvery bits?
