July 7, 2017 at 8:40 am in reply to: Where are all the miners #220019 clemParticipant THE SAGA CLOCHETINUUMS… June 17, 2017 at 11:39 am in reply to: Tony Hawks MBE #219882 clemParticipant That and skateboarding. May 22, 2017 at 2:11 pm in reply to: Who has has a Red Dwarf dream? #219793 clemParticipant Quite hazy but last night dreamt about a film I was raving about to a friend and then suddenly found myself in, something to do with a religious cult I was trying to escape from. Then it changed genre completely Rat Pfink a Boo Boo style when Red Dwarf landed on Earth and the crew took on the cult. The cult were the bad guys, might even have taken over the whole world by this point. Anyway, I was barely in it once Red Dwarf turned up. Kryten had a, seemingly human, love interest played by Fiona Allen. He also had bare feet the whole time, like we see when he gets naked in series VIII, but apart from his feet he was “clothed” as normal. May 19, 2017 at 7:55 pm in reply to: Red Dwarf is now on BritBox in the US #219787 clemParticipant That’s the mirror universe Lister with the mustache. Only in a deleted scene. May 5, 2017 at 11:11 pm in reply to: Something That's Shit About Remastered Possibly Not Noted Before #219722 clemParticipant > I DO always miss ‘yes God’ at the end of, er, The End Oh I hate that, find it really cringey. So much so I suggested it as a low for the Holly moments High and Low article. Is High and Low ever coming back? I liked it. March 24, 2017 at 10:57 pm in reply to: Red Dwarf Movie References #219561 clemParticipant Winston? Do you mean Wilson, the Children’s BBC Broom Cupboard butler? March 23, 2017 at 1:25 pm in reply to: Red Dwarf Movie References #219544 clemParticipant Maybe my favourite film butler is Hobson in Arthur but I don’t think Hobson’s a good name for a mechanoid. Come to think of it, Lister and Kryten’s relationship is a bit like Arthur and Hobson’s. March 11, 2017 at 1:54 pm in reply to: Red Dwarf Movie References #219451 clemParticipant Just been looking at this: http://www.red-rose.com/www.cobalt.demon.co.uk/alt.tv.red-dwarf/reflist-tv-255.html I didn’t know MAKE MY DAY was on the simulant’s gun in Justice. March 10, 2017 at 7:09 pm in reply to: Red Dwarf Movie References #219441 clemParticipant There’s the line about going back in time and persuading Dustin Hoffman not to do the much-maligned (unfairly imo) Ishtar. (I also once really enjoyed an amateur production of Run For Your Wife, but have never listened to an album by Olivia Newton-John.) December 12, 2016 at 3:21 pm in reply to: The real reasons behind Rob and Doug's breakup #218821 clemParticipant > a hologrammatic wig with its own individual light bee Sort of a toupbee, you mean? November 17, 2016 at 1:34 pm in reply to: Would you watch a Red Dwarf porn film? #218502 clemParticipant > I want to work in a clock museum now. Nothing else is good enough. How about a cloche museum? November 16, 2016 at 11:15 pm in reply to: Would you watch a Red Dwarf porn film? #218487 clemParticipant Good hijack. I didn’t know about the convention of using IIII until I listened to the commentary on Back to the Future. Bob Gale points out that the clock tower is unusual for having a IV. November 1, 2016 at 10:53 pm in reply to: What if every episode had an XI-style ending? #217904 clemParticipant Camille: This is what I really look like. Kryten: Oh. [credits roll] November 1, 2016 at 9:43 pm in reply to: Should the fans be given an opportunity to write an episode? #217897 clemParticipant Oooh not a popular one, Seb. October 31, 2016 at 10:37 pm in reply to: If Holly were to return to Red Dwarf, which one would you have back? #217814 clemParticipant Definitely Hattie. Pretty much what Ian said, plus I genuinely think Hattie would be better suited to the show the way it is now than Norman would. If we’re talking about Norm’s various jeremiads and whinges over the years, let’s not forget his bizarre claim that he was upset about “the female Norman Lovett” being cast as the new Holly because he’d been promised they wouldn’t replace him with somebody like him. October 29, 2016 at 12:18 am in reply to: What if Red Dwarf had started in 2006 and not 1987? #217667 clemParticipant “Well I’m not fully qualified, but I’ve seen every episode of Chicago Hope.” October 24, 2016 at 12:23 am in reply to: Mindblowing thing I've just noticed about the Opening Theme… #217432 clemParticipant Astonishing. > I’m presuming you all know about the Latin Mr Bean translations and that the opening/closing say different things Yep, but I’ve just had to look them up. According to Wikipedia it’s “Behold the man who is a bean” and “Farewell, man who is a bean”. And everybody knows the piccolo part in the Some Mothers Do ‘Ave ‘Em theme spells out the name of the show in morse code, right? October 23, 2016 at 9:46 pm in reply to: Which cast member would you fuck and why? #217416 clemParticipant Her in the café in Backwards. The way she regurgitates that éclair, phwoarr! October 13, 2016 at 11:59 pm in reply to: Starburst – Chris Barrie/Red Dwarf VI Interview (1994) #217103 clemParticipant Hear, hear. When Craig was on the One Show a while ago he was on about how he’d left Corrie because he wanted to do various other things, mentioned RD, his poetry, his funk and soul stuff, and Alex Jones commented on how hard he was working and it must be tiring. It was something along those lines, and Craig replied “Well, not really y’know – I’m not digging ditches.” I liked that. October 8, 2016 at 12:00 am in reply to: Doug Interview on Fubar #216955 clemParticipant Very interesting to hear Doug say BTE “wasn’t Red Dwarf – it was our ticket to get back into the game.” September 26, 2016 at 12:39 pm in reply to: Brands in Red Dwarf #216452 clemParticipant Topic bar in two episodes. September 23, 2016 at 9:21 pm in reply to: Why did Rimmer wear boxing gloves in bed? #216293 clemParticipant > the answer is wanking. As is so often the case. September 23, 2016 at 5:51 pm in reply to: Why did Rimmer wear boxing gloves in bed? #216281 clemParticipant Cheaper than putting bromide in his tea in the long run I suppose, but he gets them off pretty easily, doesn’t he? Not disagreeing btw – the reason definitely is to prevent him from wanking his cock. September 16, 2016 at 10:23 pm in reply to: We Are Cult #215965 clemParticipant Nice little article, and after reading it I immediately found a really good, well written one on The Monkees and a couple of other interesting things, so yeah I will keep an eye on that site. September 4, 2016 at 8:56 am in reply to: BBC Sitcom Season #214851 clemParticipant Goodnight Sweetheart is the only one I’ve watched and I thought it was great. I’d love them to make a new series now, which is clearly the intention. July 28, 2016 at 8:50 pm in reply to: Red Dwarf Fan-Fic: Homecoming #214331 clemParticipant Just finished reading this. Really impressive. Very skilfully done indeed! July 28, 2016 at 4:44 pm in reply to: Rimmericks #214330 clemParticipant Many fans didn’t like Taiwan Tony. Racial stereotypes make them moany, But at Pree they went “Phwoar!” Now they’re hungry for more. Let’s all hope XI’s not pony. July 25, 2016 at 10:48 pm in reply to: Red Dwarf Fan-Fic: Homecoming #214270 clemParticipant But the Series 4000 isn’t waterproof, is it? May 31, 2016 at 4:58 pm in reply to: Hitch-Hexers Guide To The Galaxy #214002 clemParticipant I didn’t care for And Another Thing… or The Tertiary Phase at all (and didn’t bother with the fourth and fifth series.) So, yeah, what Capps said. Wasn’t keen on the big shoulder hoops in X. I like the chest and the big monitor. Don’t like the sound of “all one light gray colour” though. > They should have just added some multicoloured wires Or given him one red arm. November 18, 2015 at 5:19 pm in reply to: What character/prop would you most like see return to the new series? #212830 clemParticipant > I’ve seen 15 Storeys High many times and never noticed it was him. You should turn up the brightness on your telly… November 18, 2015 at 3:52 pm in reply to: What character/prop would you most like see return to the new series? #212826 clemParticipant Here he is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DimYzDqc478 and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mRp-763aMy8 I’m sure Lee Cornes is in Goes Forth as well but I can’t remember which episode or his character. He’s not in the Scarlett Pimpernel one though. That’s Nigel Planer. November 17, 2015 at 7:37 pm in reply to: New banner #212814 clemParticipant Ooh I spy lots of new ones! November 15, 2015 at 6:11 pm in reply to: What character/prop would you most like see return to the new series? #212798 clemParticipant I’d forgotten about that character. I like him as the “cheese cheese cheese cheese cheese cheese macaroni…” man as well. October 31, 2015 at 2:48 am in reply to: Craig's 'Scary Fairy' poem on Radio 2 tonight #212733 clemParticipant Thanks for reminding me about this. It was absolutely brilliant. October 19, 2015 at 11:12 pm in reply to: Dirty Feed #212699 clemParticipant Well done, John. September 24, 2015 at 5:50 pm in reply to: Craig's last Corrie appearance #212627 clemParticipant It was a good exit for Craig/Lloyd but Steve not being there to see him off felt all wrong. Apparently Steve was meant to be in the live episode but had to be written out because Simon Gregson was unable to take part due to illness. I know it’s all usually recorded weeks in advance but I’m wondering whether Steve getting shitfaced in the cellar in Monday’s episodes and having to sleep it off was concocted so there’d be a plausible reason for Steve to miss the party? According to Digital Spy Lloyd “will be back for one final appearance tomorrow to say goodbye to his best friend Steve” > I suspect a return to the Street will be inevitable, though… Here’s hoping for a Lloyd comeback special two-hander with Steve in a few years’ time. September 15, 2015 at 10:11 pm in reply to: Back to the Future double bill screenings #212607 clemParticipant Ah, it is the whole trilogy in some places: http://www.odeon.co.uk/films/back_to_the_future_trilogy/16242/ August 22, 2015 at 2:08 pm in reply to: When was George McIntyre turned off? #212546 clemParticipant > What about the people Lister had eaten bits of when they were in dust form? Would they not be able to be resurrected? For that matter, where did the nanos get any of the crew’s remains? Are we to assume something like the deleted funeral scene from The End happened at some stage, or did the skutters just sweep everybody up and put them in the bin? Btw it’s “Petersen”, because he’s Danish. July 5, 2015 at 12:43 am in reply to: What character/prop would you most like see return to the new series? #212082 clemParticipant That woman in the cafe in Backwards and her éclair. June 17, 2015 at 4:47 pm in reply to: Why so much hate for Remastered? #212004 clemParticipant > It still works if you don’t know who Felicity Kendall is Was about to say exactly that. It’s like Rory Calhoun in The Simpsons. Also Felicity Kendall is a funny-sounding name. > I’d agree Felicity Kendall wasn’t a good choice for the joke (instantly dates a future-set show) For the most part I don’t like that sort of joke in RD but for some reason when it’s Holly I think they get away with it. I even like his QPR line in VIII, whereas I hate Lister calling the dinosaur “Barney’s ugly brother”. June 4, 2015 at 10:06 pm in reply to: Why so much hate for Remastered? #211848 clemParticipant > some stuffy old comedy show, much like Last of the Summer Wine or of that period. What, 1973 – 2010? May 31, 2015 at 8:30 pm in reply to: BBC RDS promo from 1993 feat. Chris Barrie #211779 clemParticipant In the words of Mike Yarwood, “It’s not easy to do yourself.” May 26, 2015 at 6:00 pm in reply to: Red Dwarf VIII? #211728 clemParticipant > I remember Douglas saying at the time of the tenth anniversary that he felt he owed the fans a really funny Red Dwarf novel after the dramatic direction of Last Human so it was definitely his intention to make series VIII as funny as possible too. That’s interesting. You do have to wonder what Doug was thinking with VIII. I’ve said before that series is the RD equivalent to the Gene Deitch Tom and Jerry cartoons, except they really were made by people who didn’t quite get what they were meant to be doing and had very little respect or affection for what had come before. VIII just seems like it was. And yes it’s “bad television” but it’s fucking awful Red Dwarf. May 17, 2015 at 9:00 pm in reply to: I hate Back to Earth #211635 clemParticipant Sorry, that was in reply to performingmonkey asking where the missing Rimmer reaction shot is in Part 1.
