Yeah for me the ideal would be a 6 episode series, 30 minutes each. I wouldn’t ’advertise’ it as the finale but I’d make the end of episode 6 as definitive as they’ve ever had, something like they have the opportunity to get back to earth, around the time Red Dwarf left, but they decide to stay together and carry on their adventures.

I am browsing YouTube on my phone when a short autoplays of a classic WWE/F Raw moment. It’s a Halloween episode and all the wrestlers are in costume (not their usual costume of course). One of them is dressed as Kryten, cheap looking body suit and mask. 

I don’t know who it was but they were stood, along with others, behind Vince McMahon who was cutting a promo in some vampire type getup. It was attitude era time so maybe Test, Shamrock or Bossman. 

Kane dressing as Kryten for Halloween would be funny.

If you don’t see the problem with Timewave then there isn’t one. It’s just an episode of a sitcom. 

FWIW I don’t think it’s particularly trans/homophobic or right wing rhetoric. That gives Doug and the episode too much credit. 

It’s quite explicitly about how people can’t take criticism. The idea is to show what a shit show life is going to be if it carries on like that, but as others have mentioned, it’s executed poorly (in my/their opinion). 

A society without criticism doesn’t mean no one would fix a broken lift and it doesn’t mean law enforcement uniforms would be flamboyant. 

Like I say, to suggest it’s a veiled attack on LBGT or anything left wing I think gives the writer too much credit whilst at the same time doing him a disservice. There has been nothing in nearly 40 years of Red Dwarf to suggest he’d attack people for their sexuality or gender.

Thanks for compiling this. I’m mostly surprised that Chris Barrie doesn’t have a higher share of lines in V. Whenever I think of that series it feels like The Rimmer show.

Sobering reminder that these things are complicated. You can have the show/s written, the cast can be available and willing, there can be a production company lined up, a broadcaster interested, and still there are hurdles. I really hope something gets agreed soon.

Is there actually any definitive word about Jacko though? I mean Carrie seemed pretty sure he was innocent and even recalled an incident in her memoirs when someone actively set him up just to be able to launch a high-profile lawsuit, and then went into an incredibly in-depth description of why he was less trusting of adults after spending most of his formative years being exploited by so many authority figures in his life – his father, his agents, the countless people who wanted to associate with him purely for the sake of his fame. I don’t think it’s as clear cut as people are saying, and while I’ll admit I’ve not seen the documentary, I can’t help but feel there’s still an exploitative element there.

I don’t want to derail the thread tbh, there is no ‘definitive word’ about any of them, it’s just a list of artists I don’t like personally but do enjoy some of their work.
