Well, the job, at least in series 1, seemed to be more than just reparing vending machines – remember, in “The End”, the other jobs on their docket included dealing with sticking doors and replacing faulty porous circuits, and Lister suggests that they do general maintenance. Rob and Doug seem to have latched on to the vending machine stuff specifically since then, though.

Actually, I’m imagining a title sequence which starts as the new logo video does – the Tardigram fading in – then turning into the TARDIS, which spins and opens its doors into a vortex effect, through Smith’s face, ending up with the new logo…

A good font should make each letter distinctive enough to eliminate any possibility of confusion with another though, no?

I?m not wrong in thinking that before BTE Torchwood had the highest non-sporting event ratings on a digital channel or am I getting mixed up?

Yeah, I was going to get the boxset cheap at ASDA a few weeks ago, but checked first to see whether anyone had it cheaper on Amazon, and discovered the new release.

I suspect the +7 viewers will help, as well – with so much on last night, it’s inevitable that more people will have recorded things. It would have been nice if they’d reported the figures for the ja vu timeshift. I think the final numbers might push above 1.2, maybe 1.5.

The second episode in the new Red Dwarf trilogy lost over half the audience from the first episode but was still a huge success for multichannel station Dave. The show was the second most-watched multichannel programme of the day, with 937k (4.5%) tuning in at 9pm. Clip show Red Dwarf Special: Smeg-Ups followed with 495k (2.5%).

That’s a big drop. But still double the usual highest audience figures for Dave. I think Britain’s Got Absolutely Nothing Else Good on Telly Any More probably hit the audience by a lot – peaking at nearly 12m at 8:40.

I can only agree with Baz on the final point – I thought the performances were good, and some of the numbers were excellent (for an example – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k796JtCVa7k). But the story itself is very heavily compromised by the running time (and the necessity of getting people out before the Tube shuts down…)
