Couldn’t you have gotten someone who knows what he’s talking about? Like Pecos Pete? October 11, 2014 at 5:03 am in reply to: SUPER SMASH BROTHERS, YOU BASTARDS. #210684 PhilParticipant I’ve played as all the new ones at least once (well, the ones I’m not waiting to unlock) and Mega Man, unsurprisingly, is my favorite. Pacman, though…he’s pretty shockingly awesome. Little Mac is also really good if you’re skilled / lucky. If you’re neither of those things you don’t stand a chance, but if you are, it’s pretty thrilling to play as him. I was skeptical about the Wii Fit Trainer and the villager, and I certainly haven’t mastered either of them, but I’ve seen them do impressive things in matches. I doubt I’ll play as either of them very often, but I’m glad to have them in the roster, because it’s led to some interesting fights already. October 3, 2014 at 4:24 pm in reply to: SUPER SMASH BROTHERS, YOU BASTARDS. #210628 PhilParticipant 2449-4714-0169 I have it, but haven’t played yet. I’m fucking terrible at Smash Bros. I’ll play with you anyway! This is great. September 25, 2014 at 2:36 pm in reply to: Chris Barrie's Nuts #210612 PhilParticipant Thank you for this. I’ve wanted to see it since I read the G&T review as well. I miss thorough G+T reviews. :( (Not that there’s been all that much for them to review lately…but I still miss them.) Review: The Grand Budapest Hotel March 14, 2014 at 9:43 pm in reply to: Is Mr. Bean retarded? #209973 PhilParticipant I don’t know how much time you invested in making that, Seb, but it was worth every second. March 12, 2014 at 3:55 am in reply to: Is Mr. Bean retarded? #209931 PhilParticipant “I didn’t know retarded wasn’t in use anymore.” Are you from the past? Although I search myself, it’s always someone else I see. :( January 13, 2014 at 8:10 pm in reply to: Video Games #209639 PhilParticipant “I played Fallout 3 and as much as I wanted to enjoy it, it bored the living shit out of me. I think I just couldn’t get on board with the setting, unlike the Elder Scrolls games.” I know what you mean. In fact, that’s exactly how I felt about the Elder Scrolls games…I adored the world and mythology of Fallout, but couldn’t bring myself to care enough about Elder Scrolls to press on. I recognize them as being Very Good Games…but I find myself caring about my actions in the Fallout games more than I care about them in Elder Scrolls. To each his own obv, but I see where you’re coming from. “Never had the inclination to replay it.” I’ll be honest…as much as I love it, it’s nothing I can replay often. I’ve made it through the game a grand total of three times. It’s a work of art, but not one that I think I could handle re-experiencing too frequently. Maybe part of that is the dungeon design and the sometimes (but not always) ropey mask integration. But I think, for me, it’s more the atmosphere and subject matter. It just claws so deeply into me that I simultaneously love it and am chilled by it. January 13, 2014 at 6:54 pm in reply to: Video Games #209636 PhilParticipant And Fallout 3. Maybe I missed it but I didn’t see anyone on your Facebook post mention that. Most people seem to think New Vegas is better. They’re wrong. Play Fallout 3. January 13, 2014 at 5:35 pm in reply to: Video Games #209635 PhilParticipant To balance out my smartass answer on Facebook, you can check this out: http://www.nintendolife.com/vc/games?region=pal&sort=rating Full disclosure: this is a site that I write for. But by no means are all of these my reviews…nor do they necessarily reflect my opinion at all. Even so, I sorted it from highest to lowest ranking, so if you want to browse the games that reviewers enjoyed most, you can see them easily and get an idea of what catches your eye. These are only the games that have been released for Nintendo’s virtual consoles, so it’s be no means comprehensive, but it’s a start. Also, Majora’s Mask is the best video game ever made. January 8, 2014 at 9:02 pm in reply to: Any of these worth watching? #209597 PhilParticipant I’ve not seen Nighty Night, but I do already know I want to, so I didn’t include it in my query. Not familiar with Mongrels! Add it to the list? I may give Hyperdrive a proper spin too… January 8, 2014 at 3:12 pm in reply to: Any of these worth watching? #209593 PhilParticipant Rev and The Inbetweeners for sure then, even if the former is getting a tacit recommendation at best. It looked interesting to me and it doesn’t seem to be out and out hated, so that helps. There’s also Moone Boy or something with Chris O’Dowd. If that’s any good. January 7, 2014 at 6:44 pm in reply to: Dollarpounds Cryptocoins #209587 PhilParticipant How many do I need for the walrus polishing kit? January 6, 2014 at 12:27 am in reply to: Dollarpounds Cryptocoins #209579 PhilParticipant I’m giving away Philbux. Give me your banking information and mother’s maiden name and you too can be swimming in useless fake currency. January 3, 2014 at 4:48 am in reply to: Worlds End #209571 PhilParticipant Glad to hear that. I’ll definitely be picking it up on DVD…I’m just not in a rush to do so. (Though I did see a vanilla box with all three films for $20 or so, and I thought that would have been an excellent buy for people not as features-mad as some of us.) December 26, 2013 at 2:45 am in reply to: Chrerry Mistmas #209559 PhilParticipant Yes yes but how does it END? December 15, 2013 at 12:41 am in reply to: I WILL MAKE "RED DWARF" THE MOVIE! #209507 PhilParticipant What part do you have for me, Pete? December 2, 2013 at 2:12 am in reply to: Anyone seeing The Grand Budapest Hotel next Spring? #209484 PhilParticipant Yeah, that seems like a pretty good trailer. I guess I can’t say that definitively without seeing the movie, because I have no idea how misleading it might be, but it really does one hell of a solid job in getting me revved up for it. Moonrise Kingdom’s trailer was good, but it didn’t get me enthusiastic. It got me thoughtful, and it made me look forward to the movie, but this is the kind of thing that makes me wish it was already out, because I’d kind of like to see it immediately. November 27, 2013 at 5:33 pm in reply to: Anyone seeing The Grand Budapest Hotel next Spring? #209478 PhilParticipant Oh, I forgot to start an argument. Here goes: The Life Aquatic > The Royal Tenenbaums > Moonrise Kingdom > Rushmore > The Darjeeling Limited > Fantastic Mr. Fox > Bottle Rocket Though I honestly can’t decide which way around Moonrise and Rushmore should go. November 25, 2013 at 10:06 pm in reply to: Animal Crossing: New Leaf #209475 PhilParticipant I’m afraid to go back. :( I almost booted it back up to see what Halloween was like, but then I was afraid that it would just be a bunch of villagers yelling at me for not pulling their weeds. I’d like to see Christmas in Animal Crossington…so what kind of cleanup should I expect for not touching the damned thing in months? November 21, 2013 at 5:17 am in reply to: Anyone seeing Muppets Most Wanted next Spring? #209459 PhilParticipant http://www.avclub.com/article/muppets-most-wanted-105845 Full trailer. This got several laughs out of me. Like, real laughs, and not just chuckles. That very rarely happens in a trailer for anything, so I’m looking forward to this way more now. March will also see the release of the new Wes Anderson film. I so rarely go to the movies, but when there are multiple things I’d like to see upon release they sure to seem to cluster together. November 15, 2013 at 3:58 pm in reply to: JUST READ IT, COLIN #209449 PhilParticipant Awesome. That was a great writeup, and I love seeing you dig into things like preconceived notions of what a sitcom can be / should be. I’d love to see you do something like this for the complete run of some show…but that’s just me being selfish. Whatever it ends up being, I’m positive it’ll be great. November 14, 2013 at 9:20 pm in reply to: JUST READ IT, COLIN #209447 PhilParticipant This just makes me wish you reviewed some series episode by episode again, John. :( October 30, 2013 at 12:10 am in reply to: PLOTS FOR SERIES 11 #209414 PhilParticipant Red Christmas: Xtended October 24, 2013 at 3:23 pm in reply to: Red Dwarf the (cancelled) video game. #209404 PhilParticipant >I wouldn’t mind something akin to their Walking Dead games.
