Somebody help me append the Coral Canvass poll results to every episode’s Wikipedia page to balance out this nonsense. Holoship rules. Fuck you. December 26, 2024 at 6:38 pm in reply to: Mundane observation dome #301434 StarbuggerParticipant I heavily suspect all of you are borderline geriatric and have been yelling about VIII for 25 years. Hollister in Only the Good, Katerina in BTE1. The Hollister one was in Pete, Pt2. October 25, 2024 at 1:21 am in reply to: Mundane observation dome #299251 StarbuggerParticipant Unless I’m missing something, I’m not sure how Craig Charles can’t produce a Jake Abraham, while Lister is his own Dad, he had family above himself in the family tree before the holding pattern business right? I don’t think so. He had an adoptive family but he’s a clone of himself of a clone of himself of a clone of himself. October 15, 2024 at 11:06 pm in reply to: Mundane observation dome #298987 StarbuggerParticipant September 23, 2024 at 1:46 pm in reply to: Lines from something else that sound like they’re from Red Dwarf #298478 StarbuggerParticipant September 16, 2024 at 3:50 pm in reply to: Arnold Brittas #298355 StarbuggerParticipant I forget which episode but Chris himself points it out in one of the DVD commentaries. “I think that look was a Brittas 1-A.” August 9, 2024 at 11:06 pm in reply to: Unanswered Questions #297444 StarbuggerParticipant In Queeg, did a meteor really hit the ship, or was it Holly setting in motion the Queeg prank? I’ve always read it that it was all real until: Rimmer: “You are a total, total… a word has yet to be invented to describe how totally whatever-it-is you are, but you are one, and a total, total one at that.”Holly: “Alright, keep your hair on.” Rimmer: “I’m lucky if I can keep my legs on with you in charge!”Cat: “He’s out to lunch, man!”Rimmer: “He’s out to lunch, breakfast, dinner, the lot! He’s not in for a single meal, if you ask me!” That’s when Queeg appears on the screen so I take it that’s when Holly decides to teach them a lesson. July 22, 2024 at 7:09 pm in reply to: Craig Charles has updated his X #296986 StarbuggerParticipant June 4, 2024 at 8:24 pm in reply to: The Gallifrey Gals’ own thread #295607 StarbuggerParticipant I always took Kryten’s line, “The altercation with our future selves caused dimensional anomalies which have expanded the cargo deck by 212%. We should ascertain that the new structures are stable”, to mean that it was supposed to be TARDIS-like in VII. May 28, 2024 at 1:30 am in reply to: Chris Barrie has updated his website #295433 StarbuggerParticipant The ultimate dad dancer. Even better if you mute it and play the Rimmer Munchkin Song over it. May 23, 2024 at 9:28 pm in reply to: The Gallifrey Gals’ own thread #295296 StarbuggerParticipant I hate their comment section so much. Kat says that Chris missed Series VII because he was doing Tomb Raider, which is evidently something she’s been told and assumed to be true. The first Tomb Raider film was 2001. April 21, 2024 at 11:51 am in reply to: Mundane observation dome #294364 StarbuggerParticipant I was just thinking that when Kochanski cries “I’ve tried to fit in” she sounds like she just recently got stranded from a “good” ship, like pre accident Red Dwarf. I forgot she was just with the regular RD crew, but a more sensitive version. I mean, they may have been more mature, but they were still a bunch of guys. Or is she crying about the entire time, with both crews? The timescale of Series VII is a bit hard to fathom if you think about it too hard. There’s an 18-month time jump at the end of “Ouroboros”, after which Lister takes his younger self back in time, so presumably Kochanski has gone through an entire pregnancy and they’ve raised baby Lister for 9 months? Then we pick up in “Duct Soup” as if only a few weeks have passed and there’s no more mention of Kochanski being Lister’s mum. Lister, in his dream in “Blue”, mentions to Rimmer that she’s “been here a few weeks and she hasn’t quoted one Space Corps directive”, but that can be handwaved. I never get a sense that she’s around for that long, but maybe it all could account for the time she’s spent trying to fit in with “our” guys. April 8, 2024 at 9:50 pm in reply to: Things you only noticed on re-watches (preferably hard to spot ones) #293947 StarbuggerParticipant t That you can see Robert’s arm behind the door here as he waits for his cue to enter. April 5, 2024 at 12:32 am in reply to: Mundane observation dome #293821 StarbuggerParticipant It can however be a bit frustrating when they don’t react to some of the gold in there – pretty sure the lightbulb exchange got little to no reaction from them for example! Or even worse is when reaction creators cut key sections of an episode out of their upload so you never get to see what they thought of it! I don’t know if you support them on Patreon but the lightbulb gag wasn’t included in the YouTube edit. March 24, 2024 at 1:19 pm in reply to: Mundane observation dome #293550 StarbuggerParticipant A mundane observation occurred while watching Dimension Jump recently, that Arnold Rimmer is a textbook vulnerable narcissist, while Ace Rimmer became a more overt/grandiose narcissist. March 24, 2024 at 12:58 pm in reply to: Unanswered Questions #293548 StarbuggerParticipant If the nanobots deserted Kryten after “Back to Reality”, how could he operate his self-repair unit after being crushed in the waste compactor in the very next episode? February 15, 2024 at 4:53 pm in reply to: Mundane observation dome #292713 StarbuggerParticipant I was particularly grateful for the Promised Land coming out when it did. Where are you from? December 13, 2023 at 5:17 pm in reply to: Mundane observation dome #291290 StarbuggerParticipant Some things that seem like they’re from Star Trek might themselves be derivative or similar to other works, but the most prominent ones to me are: […] maybe also Camille / The Perfect Mate, though that’s kind of a stock idea. “Camille” is TOS’s “The Man Trap”, with the hideous creature that appears as everyone’s dream partner. Was the ship’s first officer Commander Catrimmer? October 27, 2023 at 10:37 pm in reply to: Unanswered Questions #290114 StarbuggerParticipant Re-watching “Thanks for the Memory” on BBC2 just now; how did Lister convince the Cat to let him erase his memory, especially for Rimmer’s benefit? October 27, 2023 at 10:36 pm in reply to: Mundane observation dome #290113 StarbuggerParticipant Hollie is canonically genderfluid, presenting as male and female at different points in time. Whereas for many (most?) trans people, the way they ultimately present is as the person they felt they were all along, so referring to them with their current name and pronouns when talking about past events honours that. So for Hollie specifically, since they present as binary male and female, presumably referring to them with the appropriate pronouns at the tine of the event is fine (and I feel okay saying that since this is a fictional character and not even a human, so nobody gets hurt if it’s accidentally wrong)! Making sure to spell it correctly. October 26, 2023 at 10:18 pm in reply to: Mundane observation dome #290080 StarbuggerParticipant When you say ‘Series “IX”‘, are you talking about Back to Earth itself, or the ninth series which was produced within the Back to Earth universe? I was thinking the latter. October 25, 2023 at 10:11 pm in reply to: Mundane observation dome #290054 StarbuggerParticipant The 1999 Children in Need sketch that couldn’t really be fit into continuity at the time can now fit into Series “IX”. October 25, 2023 at 7:43 pm in reply to: Mundane observation dome #290051 StarbuggerParticipant It took me a while to notice that Tongue Tied is first heard, instrumentally, in “Better Than Life”. October 15, 2023 at 12:07 am in reply to: Mundane observation dome #289759 StarbuggerParticipant I’ve never really given it that much thought before, but it really is very obvious that Kryten is meant to end with the space bike blasting off into space but they couldn’t manage it, isn’t it? The Gallifrey Gals YouTube channel has recently started reacting to the show, and they’ve been quite confused about where Kryten went and why he wasn’t in the rest of Series 2. October 7, 2023 at 12:21 am in reply to: What is seeing RD live actually like? #289536 StarbuggerParticipant I was lucky to have the warmup guy who appeared in M-Corp as a ‘friend’ he went by the name ‘Ray’ I think at the time and later Ian for some reason. Ian Boldsworth, stage name Ray Peacock. No idea why he alternated. He popped up in Doctor Who: “Blink” as well. September 5, 2023 at 10:53 pm in reply to: Mundane observation dome #288571 StarbuggerParticipant You can see Robert’s hand as he waits for his cue to enter. September 5, 2023 at 10:02 pm in reply to: Some interesting Rimmer “headcanons” from a Tumblr page #288567 StarbuggerParticipant Extending it to Ace is also weird, because the whole idea of Ace is that he’s Rimmer’s best self – so Rimmer’s best self is closeted in the 23rd century? I’m not buying that. Indeed. I feel like, if Ace were gay, he’d be open about it, and yet he explicitly says he’s strictly butter-side up. August 18, 2023 at 4:04 pm in reply to: Mundane observation dome #287750 StarbuggerParticipant I think a bigger question regarding Timeslides, is why didn’t Rimmer immediately vomit after taking a bite out of a banana and crisp sandwich… That and, why is there a photo of Rimmer asleep in bed at boarding school?
