What’s the joke?” He’s not a Red Dwarf fan and has no idea who Jim Reaper is, but he looked at me in disbelief and said “I’m guessing he appears when someone is about to die.” Shame mode! July 14, 2020 at 8:22 pm in reply to: Break a Red Dwarf Episode #259593 pendo86Participant THE END Lister gives up Frankenstein, doesn’t go into stasis and dies with the rest of the crew. June 30, 2020 at 1:16 am in reply to: Unanswered Questions #259399 pendo86Participant On the topic of Stasis Leak. Why does stepping into a leaky stasis booth bring them out into a shower room? Is the shower room directly behind the stasis booth? How has the stasis field leaked into the shower room? And why does it allow them to walk through walls? As the stasis leak preserves whatever it’s leaked into, presumably every time they step through the “rent in the space-time continuum” they should always appear at the same date and time (22nd March 2077) so why do they not bump into themselves and appear there at the exact same time as other versions? They travel to just before Lister has been put into stasis so why doesn’t he do as Rimmer tries to do and save himself? Why doesn’t he warn Hollister about the faulty drive plate and get them to evacuate the ship whilst stationed on Ganymede? June 5, 2020 at 7:29 pm in reply to: Loose Ends #258888 pendo86Participant including Bexley dying in his mid-twenties… Of course that happened. How could I forget. Certainly adds a complication. ???? I also don’t know what the rights issues around the old episodes are. Didn’t they say there were a lot of hoops to jump through just for the few seconds of footage used in the campaign video in Mechocracy? Yes, there were quite a few issues. If I remember correctly, I think it cost them a small fortune to use just a few clips. June 5, 2020 at 6:54 pm in reply to: Loose Ends #258881 pendo86Participant ???? whatever you did, thank you ???? June 5, 2020 at 5:26 pm in reply to: Loose Ends #258877 pendo86Participant Erm… I typed a response to this thread. Edited it to correct a spelling and now it’s disappeared. Can anyone else see it or has it gone? ???? Don’t know if it’s some bug on the forum system. Anyways, to paraphrase: Yes to Jim & Bexley Yes to Kochanski No to S8 cliffhanger. That’s about it. ???? June 5, 2020 at 5:18 pm in reply to: Loose Ends #258876 pendo86Participant I’d love to see an episode exploring what happened to Jim and Bexley. Perhaps a return to the Parallel Universe using the Holly Hop Drive? And an excuse to get the wonderful Hattie back, and perhaps even Angela Bruce, Suzanne Bertish and Matthew Devitt (if he’s still acting ????????♂️). We could possibly explore old Lister from Future Echoes, but I don’t know how you’d build a whole episode around that one moment where an old man in a bunk is talking to someone he can’t see. ????????♂️ The only other loose end I can think of is Kochanski, which I think makes sense to explore. And my theory is that she’s still on board Red Dwarf hiding on another part of the ship. I hope Doug doesn’t explore the Series VIII cliffhanger. With the age of the cast, I don’t think there’s any way of producing a satisfactory resolution to the cliffhanger, a flashback wouldn’t work. I think how it was handled in The Beginning was perfect and funny. On another note, I’d love for them to do a ‘Back to the Future Part II’ style episode where the crew go back and affect events that we’ve seen happen in Series 1/2. They recreated the old bunk set perfectly in XII and could reproduce some of the other old sets. This might enable them to work in the old Lister scene in Future Echoes. But I’m not sure if they have the budget or technology, or even if it would be possible to successfully blend footage together from the old show with the new. March 24, 2020 at 2:07 pm in reply to: Bobby & Doug Q&A #258220 pendo86Participant I’m wondering, and this is purely speculation, if the DVD/Blu-ray release will be delayed. Most online retailers are now operating at less than full capacity, many like Amazon only distributing essentials. All high street retailers are closed except for supermarkets. Surely releasing it whilst this is all going on will have a huge impact on sales? ????????♂️ I think it would make sense to push it back to Xmas time and hopefully give them time to record that audio commentary. ???????? But as I say, it’s all speculation, I have no idea when the original release date is planned. October 12, 2017 at 3:33 pm in reply to: Leopard Lager #222858 pendo86Participant I know the Daily Mirror voucher isn’t valid until tomorrow, but are they still available to buy from today? I’m heading out for a few friendly beverages this afternoon and I’m hoping to pick a few bottles up, but the pubs are a little out the way so won’t venture that way if not necessary. I’m working tomorrow evening from 5pm so I won’t be able to take advantage of my Daily Mirror voucher tomorrow :-( May 6, 2017 at 1:46 pm in reply to: Set photos #219727 pendo86Participant Whoa I would consider those pictures to be spoilers. Isn’t White Corridor 159 where Lister collapsed in Confidence and Paranoia? I’m guessing the crew venture back up there in the last episode of Series XII? Oh well – beautiful sets pictures and excellent attention to detail by the set designers. November 27, 2016 at 9:42 am in reply to: What Rimmer's father used to say… #218668 pendo86Participant Don’t forget, he passed away peacefully in his jeep. Red Dwarf never really cared for continuity. But perhaps in that letter, his mum was talking about Bongo, unbeknownst to Rimmer? I think Billie is right, the suicide might not have been successful. November 17, 2016 at 7:37 am in reply to: Would you watch a Red Dwarf porn film? #218497 pendo86Participant I’m watching Crime Traveller for the first time right now and I noticed that the clock in the opening of the first episode represents a 4 as IIII rather than IV and thought why many clocks with Roman numerals do this. On thorough investigation I found nobody really knows why. I don’t like it. Having worked in a Clock Museum for almost 14 years (seriously!), I’ve heard many theories about this. The most common one, and the one I tend to go with, is that some king in the past (I can’t remember which one now. King George? Louis? Can’t remember) decided that he didn’t like the look of the IV because he felt it didn’t make the clock face look symmetrical so it was changed to IIII. Obviously, I’m aware that’s not what symmetry is but that’s the version of the story I’ve heard the most. October 23, 2016 at 11:25 am in reply to: X or XI? #217369 pendo86Participant XI without a doubt! I like X a lot less now than I did when it first came out, so whether the same will happen with XI I don’t know. Ask me in 4 years time ;-) September 24, 2016 at 3:26 pm in reply to: Red Dwarf XI Blu Ray/DVD #216342 pendo86Participant The DVD also shows temporary artwork which is just basically the promo shot with “The Entire Eleventh Series” added at the bottom. I know it is likely to change but might give us an idea of what it’ll look like. September 23, 2016 at 9:56 pm in reply to: Let’s Talk About Red Dwarf XI: The Game #216299 pendo86Participant GameDigits got in touch with me after my comments about the controls on Twitter and asked me for some feedback. They seem really keen to make the best game possible and want it to be good for the fans. I told them about the controls on some levels and they have gotten back to me about it: Thank you so much for this write up of the game, it’s very much appreciated and very useful indeed. We didn’t want to make just a cash cow game for this, like a match-three game or similar so we went to a variated comprehensive game that mirrors the series. Given the time constraints on the project this was always going to be a bit of a risky strategy, but far better than creating something throwaway. Now that the game has been released and we can get player feedback, this write up is perfect. We aim to go through and rebalance the game, and we agree with points on here – the controls need work, the car especially (incidentally, that was a game suggested by Doug Naylor himself). The car level itself is a real killer to complete, the most damage is dealt when hitting characters, but I feel we balanced was way too harsh on initial release. Kudos for finishing it though! We purposefully made the game hard on first release because we believe the first wave of players would be die-hard Red Dwarf fans and likely to be gamers too – we may have gone a little too far in that respects! We’ve already put an update into submission and waiting for Apple to review it, it doesn’t address all the issues we we felt it was necessary to get it out to fix the majority of them anyway. We’ve made it easier (still, not too easy) and we plan on added health pickups and helpers along the way too. I cannot fault the guys at GameDigits one bit, and the game, despite it’s control issues, still is fun and entertaining and I really enjoy it. (Ian from GameDigits also told me I was the first person to complete it. How smug does that make me haha!) September 21, 2016 at 11:56 pm in reply to: Let’s Talk About Red Dwarf XI: The Game #216188 pendo86Participant Enjoyed it for what it is. I like that some of the levels explored things not seen onscreen, such as collecting the Casket of Cronos and what Rimmer did when he was taken. The controllability of the characters is awful, and don’t get me started on those car levels. I’m looking forward to seeing what Samsara brings to the game. September 14, 2016 at 10:43 pm in reply to: Yeah, No, Yeah, No – Rebastarded #215920 pendo86Participant I can’t edit my post to correct the awful typo. **You’ll all just have to refilm it then!! September 14, 2016 at 10:42 pm in reply to: Yeah, No, Yeah, No – Rebastarded #215919 pendo86Participant You’ll all just have to refill it then!! I think you should definitely just add a filmic effect, add black bars to the top and bottom, have a non-CGI skutter whiz past and edit out some of the best jokes. September 7, 2016 at 11:25 pm in reply to: New EMBARGO Launch #215530 pendo86Participant a EMBARGO of EMBARGO will be EMBARGO from EMBARGO at EMBARGO – SMEGTASTIC a CARTON of CURRY will be RELEASED from SPACE at MIDNIGHT The return of Vindalunar???! August 24, 2016 at 9:32 pm in reply to: SERIES XI PREMIER IN EDINBURGH TOMORROW #214609 pendo86Participant Pendo’s Premier Coffee Lounge Cock on Tour?? Haha. My cock has been on tour too many times! Trust me, that’s not something you want to encourage! Not gonna say anything about the episode but really enjoyed the whole experience today. Not much revealed in the Q&A other than the accidental reveal of a guest star in a Series XII episode which I won’t repeat here but I think a lot of people missed it because it hasn’t been tweeted. Doug said there’s a possibility for two more series but they don’t think there’ll be any more after that due to the cast aging. A guest star from Twentica has been revealed as Lucie Pohl. Robert Llewellyn once ate a deep-fried pizza and I was left wondering why I had never tried this culinary delight. That’s about it really. August 23, 2016 at 10:55 pm in reply to: SERIES XI PREMIER IN EDINBURGH TOMORROW #214592 pendo86Participant I’ll be there. Looking forward to it. Of course, I won’t be able to discuss the episode, but if there’s anything interesting for the Q&A I can share, I will do. August 23, 2016 at 3:40 pm in reply to: Red Dwarf XIII? #214582 pendo86Participant I don’t think it’s a gag. Fingers crossed it’s true. It doesn’t necessarily mean a new series is commissioned though, he might start writing new episodes even before a new series is commissioned just to be prepared and give him more time. August 13, 2016 at 1:33 pm in reply to: New Logo. Front. Back. #214513 pendo86Participant I never even noticed. Very observant! The ring goes over the WA on the mini-trailer from Friday, but you’re right, it seems to go behind on everything else. I’m too lazy to go back and check all previous RD logos. Does the ring tend to do in front or behind? August 13, 2016 at 1:31 pm in reply to: RED DWARF XI.0 #214512 pendo86Participant I actually really like this idea. Well done Jonsmad. Does this mean it has officially been commissioned? September 5, 2013 at 7:54 pm in reply to: And Danny John Jules as the voice of the book. #209108 pendo86Participant My boyfriend surprised me a few weeks ago with tickets for Manchester in October. September 27, 2012 at 7:54 am in reply to: The 8 minute long ticket giveaway! #201652 pendo86Participant I knew nothing about it but luckily my friend nabbed 2 tickets and offered me one. It is a bit of a pain getting to London from work but it’s doable as long as there are no delays. August 1, 2012 at 3:22 pm in reply to: Seeking a Friend for the End of the World #117379 pendo86Participant I really liked it! I’m not big on romcoms, but it’s not really a romcom so I liked it. I’m not big on end-of-the-world movies, but it’s not really an end-of-the-world-movie so I liked it (well not in the sense of Armageddon, The Day after Tomorrow, etc). It’s gotten pretty mixed reviews, but from them reviews I’ve seen, all the negative ones are people people expected it to be something else. If you go in knowing what to expect then you’ll really enjoy it. July 27, 2012 at 12:53 pm in reply to: Tony Hawks movie #117152 pendo86Participant I watched it the other night. I quite enjoyed it. March 11, 2012 at 2:32 pm in reply to: Craig And Danny did Kryten #115425 pendo86Participant I asked Danny on Twitter if he could share the picture. This was his reply: https://twitter.com/#!/DannyJohnJules/status/178840174824914944 I wonder why he can’t tweet it? Perhaps it will relevant to an RDX storyline like ori suggests? March 8, 2012 at 10:52 pm in reply to: Herman & Kryten #115802 pendo86Participant He mentions it on the Series V DVD Commentary I think.
