But she doesn’t remember. February 7, 2019 at 10:08 pm in reply to: Almost XIII news #243954 Taiwan TonyParticipant Any figures on how much they cost to make? February 7, 2019 at 8:08 pm in reply to: The Castle – Radio 4 #243945 Taiwan TonyParticipant Agreed. I think that’s what Kafka based his book on. February 6, 2019 at 4:43 pm in reply to: So… this was Rob Grant's Cruel Aliens !!! #243896 Taiwan TonyParticipant I returned to Fireman Sam recently when my daughter showed an interest in Postman Pat etc. There’s an alarming scene in the title credits when Sam puts out a blazing tent-fire. (Not a euphemism.) It’s chilling. February 3, 2019 at 4:43 pm in reply to: We Should Totally Have an X-Files Thread #243768 Taiwan TonyParticipant Jack and Jeremy’s Real Lives had an X Files episode… So that’s a pisser. January 28, 2019 at 5:44 pm in reply to: We Should Totally Have an X-Files Thread #243392 Taiwan TonyParticipant I had RUINS by Kevin Anderson and never read it… Should I have? Rhys Darby is always fun to watch. I like the episode with Jack Black and Sneaky Pete in it. January 28, 2019 at 5:40 pm in reply to: Which lines imitate the actors? #243391 Taiwan TonyParticipant The first thing I thought about when I read this thread was the story from, I think the Companion?, when Craig complained to Rob and Doug about Lister being slobby – while eating a sausage dipped in ketchup he’d squirted onto the table or whatever it was. That really stuck with me. January 28, 2019 at 5:31 pm in reply to: Which lines imitate the actors? #243389 Taiwan TonyParticipant Rimmer is essentially a template for Partridge isn’t he. I’ve only just realised. He’s got those traits. Perhaps why I love them both. January 22, 2019 at 8:36 pm in reply to: How do you solve a problem like Meltdown? #243052 Taiwan TonyParticipant Re, reverse order. That is an EXCELLENT idea. January 22, 2019 at 2:14 pm in reply to: How do you solve a problem like Meltdown? #243011 Taiwan TonyParticipant I like it a lot. And the smeg ups are very memorable too. “Stone…” January 20, 2019 at 8:46 am in reply to: How many times have you watched the episodes? #242911 Taiwan TonyParticipant I wouldn’t say Blackadder lacked depth. But that’s because I love it and get defensive. I would level the same criticism at Father Ted, however. As good as it is, I can’t watch it on repeat. January 19, 2019 at 10:31 pm in reply to: How many times have you watched the episodes? #242870 Taiwan TonyParticipant I’m amid a Blackadder rewatch. Having not seen the first series for a while, and knowing it much less well than the other three, I was surprised to discover how okay it was. Some episodes are basically in the mould of later series, but he’s doing a funny voice. Plus! Because I’ve seen Bells a fucking load, when I got to it it felt like an anti-climax. But the feeling passed when I reached Head and Potato. January 17, 2019 at 8:53 pm in reply to: "We Have To Go!" #242710 Taiwan TonyParticipant Cartoon violence like kicking Irene out the airlock is fine with me. It was a “comedy” moment. January 17, 2019 at 6:48 pm in reply to: Almost XIII news #242673 Taiwan TonyParticipant Darrell, you’re back out of retirement. What brought you back? January 17, 2019 at 6:42 pm in reply to: "We Have To Go!" #242672 Taiwan TonyParticipant Rimmer and Lister are men and are thus bound by nature to have male thoughts. Also, some men are absolute bounders! I therefore don’t have a problem with it, in spite of it being a bit gross. For the same reason I’m okay with Rik Mayall in Bottom gawping at a breastfeeding woman, or Rik Mayall in Blackadder being a sex pest. But then I’m not a woman. January 12, 2019 at 7:34 am in reply to: Schools Programme ID #242241 Taiwan TonyParticipant Janet Ellis? December 29, 2018 at 2:57 pm in reply to: Timewave #241153 Taiwan TonyParticipant Nor is Doug. December 29, 2018 at 2:55 pm in reply to: How did you introduce your partner/significant other to Red Dwarf? #241152 Taiwan TonyParticipant I voted Confidence and Paranoia as the worst of the first 6 series. So, condolences. Plenty more fish in the sea. (Five fish?) December 5, 2018 at 1:20 pm in reply to: slzhnjhmwu #239525 Taiwan TonyParticipant ‘I refer you to Slzhnjhmwu vs Slzhnjhmwu. And I move for a mistrial.’ November 30, 2018 at 3:40 pm in reply to: What if Red Dwarf had been filmed at Pebble Mill instead of NBH? #239362 Taiwan TonyParticipant Are there any good Christmas specials on telly this year? November 23, 2018 at 10:46 pm in reply to: One Foot in the Grave's Richard Wilson and Annette Crosbie reunited again #239280 Taiwan TonyParticipant What about 444 4444? Or Little Piddle 338? November 5, 2018 at 10:39 pm in reply to: Americans watch Red Dwarf for the first time and it's… #238822 Taiwan TonyParticipant What’s the 90s US TV show? I love the end but it wasn’t the first one I saw. For my money you’re better off starting at series 3, even though Backwards is a bit wonky. Danny’s stopped doing the screeching, it’s a nicer colour palette, Kryten is on board, and Marooned. November 3, 2018 at 11:32 pm in reply to: Red any funny books lately? #238769 Taiwan TonyParticipant I think I know the name Robert Sheckley from his Bill The Galactic Hero tales. I used to like Harry Harrison a lot. October 10, 2018 at 9:58 am in reply to: Red Dwarf model shots in a skip. #238005 Taiwan TonyParticipant (Peter Cook requested to buy the Not Onlys, but was refused and they were wiped. Damn shame.) October 9, 2018 at 8:24 pm in reply to: Red Dwarf model shots in a skip. #237987 Taiwan TonyParticipant Not Only, But Also… October 9, 2018 at 6:40 pm in reply to: Has a X-XII era script ever alluded to them being middle aged now? #237981 Taiwan TonyParticipant When I was in my late teens/twenties, I don’t think I ever alluded to my age, either. Now though, it’s all the time. October 2, 2018 at 5:44 pm in reply to: Jokes you don't/didn't get #237753 Taiwan TonyParticipant >That’s all good and well, but sometimes you just want a good Black&Decker’ing. Easily the sexiest thing I’ve read today. October 2, 2018 at 5:39 pm in reply to: Charles Aznavour has died #237752 Taiwan TonyParticipant I wonder if he died from blow jobs… Now there’s a very crap joke that is as alienating as it is esoteric. September 29, 2018 at 9:09 pm in reply to: What's the most you've laughed at Red Dwarf? #237643 Taiwan TonyParticipant Fawlty Towers. The best episode is probably the first one, for me. But they are all great. Aside from the casual racism they’re pretty much perfect. Rimmer had a lot of Basil in him. The chip on his shoulder. Desperation for higher status and laughing at people he sees as being beneath him. The snobbery. The barely suppressed rage at those who actually have higher status. Trapped by circumstance. Guided by avarice. Tortured by misfortune and destroyed by himself. Surrounded by people he hates, alone in space / Torquay. Lister has a touch of Manuel in him. Is Cat… Polly? September 28, 2018 at 8:22 pm in reply to: What's the most you've laughed at Red Dwarf? #237593 Taiwan TonyParticipant For me it might be that bit from the episode that dare not speak its name. With Johnny Vegas. The first of Cat’s lines, before the nadir of the droopy ass titties or whatever it was. But yes I get most pleasure from Chris being a bastard. But let’s get out there and twat it, and the whole Give Quiche A Chance character were very, very good. September 28, 2018 at 8:18 pm in reply to: Would you watch a series with just Rimmer and Lister? #237592 Taiwan TonyParticipant “It don’t half give me the double Polaroid.” September 26, 2018 at 10:31 pm in reply to: Red any funny books lately? #237483 Taiwan TonyParticipant I saw the much longer live version. It needed refining. September 19, 2018 at 10:35 am in reply to: Howard Goodall is a fucking idiot #237291 Taiwan TonyParticipant When I read this thread title I immediately assumed it was a play on the Collings and Herrin catchphrase “Your mum is a fucking idiot.” Which now I think of it, is a bit of a leap. September 11, 2018 at 8:10 pm in reply to: Red any funny books lately? #237209 Taiwan TonyParticipant Viz is great. Frankie Boyle’s books make me laugh a lot because they’re often just jokes from his stand up. Novels, though. I laughed a lot reading Time For Bed by David Baddiel. I laughed a bit at Flann O’Brien’s The Third Policeman. Portnoy’s Complaint had lots of very funny moments. Catch 22 is funny. I’ve not read any Jasper Fforde, but want to. I’ve got a copy of the Finkler Question by Jacob Howardson to read, but don’t want to. I liked reading the Gobbler by Adrian Edmondson. Woody Allen’s short fiction is very funny. I seem to remember The Gun Seller by Hugh Laurie being good, too. My wife read a book as a teenager that really made her laugh: Lost In Music by Giles Smith. September 8, 2018 at 1:50 pm in reply to: Burt Reynolds has died #237131 Taiwan TonyParticipant Bye, Burt. September 1, 2018 at 6:29 pm in reply to: Bottom Podcast #236779 Taiwan TonyParticipant “Kevin’s ‘ear’.” Imagine watching Mr. Jolly for the first time. Amazing isn’t it! Dirty Movie is a corker, too. “Isn’t it, Joan!?… Sorry, ‘June.'” August 24, 2018 at 7:36 am in reply to: Would you watch a Red Dwarf "reboot" with an all female cast? #236412 Taiwan TonyParticipant Marooned is a Das Boot of series three. August 22, 2018 at 9:28 pm in reply to: Played any new games recently? #236351 Taiwan TonyParticipant I played Connect Four with my daughters today. Probably Hide & Seek tomorrow. Might get Jenga. August 22, 2018 at 9:25 pm in reply to: Would you watch a Red Dwarf "reboot" with an all female cast? #236350 Taiwan TonyParticipant Probably Sarah Pascoe, Katherine Ryan, Gina Yashere and Luisa Omielan. You’d definitely need Romesh Ranganathan in it if you wanted to get it made though. August 21, 2018 at 9:57 pm in reply to: Richard Herring enjoys Red Dwarf more than he thought he would #236316 Taiwan TonyParticipant I really liked Armstrong & Miller on Channel 4. “It’s going to piss down!” And “Chuffy, Chuffy, Chuffy” are worth the license fee alone. And there isn’t even a license fee! Their podcast a few years ago (Time ghost) really underlined their snobbery and prejudice (before countless hours of kids TV, quiz shows and mad singing called them a hypocrite), so I imagine there is also an attack on Charles’s poetry in there. But I’ll let that off. Because “do some cancer research. You fucks!” August 9, 2018 at 9:04 am in reply to: What if ITV had produced Red Dwarf instead of the BBC? #235768 Taiwan TonyParticipant Frank Skinner’s Shane. Frank Skinner’s Shame. August 6, 2018 at 6:30 pm in reply to: Favourite Special Effect #235658 Taiwan TonyParticipant Not a special effect but I’ve always wanted to eat that cake in Balance of Power. Looks delicious. I like the boots in Justice. Funny. August 5, 2018 at 3:14 pm in reply to: Complain about Series XIII #235595 Taiwan TonyParticipant Just hope it isn’t too gag-heavy. And not too much drama. I hope that it’s a bit more like the first two series. And that it’s more like series V and VI. And that Doug doesn’t direct. And that Doug doesn’t direct. August 5, 2018 at 8:11 am in reply to: Complain about Series XIII #235572 Taiwan TonyParticipant Not sure I like the pic of Kryten dressed as Widow Twanky. Looks too pantomime. August 4, 2018 at 12:20 pm in reply to: If you could change 3 things about Red Dwarf… #235533 Taiwan TonyParticipant I’m in that part of the internet Venn diagram where Thanos and Wormtail mean fuck all to me, but the kid from the Goonies and the fat cunt from Auf Wiedersehen Pet are right in my wheelhouse. So with that in mind, I wouldn’t change a thing because I am old and therefore I fear change. August 4, 2018 at 8:11 am in reply to: Did Davis Ross and Norman Lovett ever sort their differences? #235527 Taiwan TonyParticipant I haven’t heard that story. What happened? July 27, 2018 at 9:22 pm in reply to: Examples of Corpsing #235107 Taiwan TonyParticipant Hugh Laurie does it during Flashheart’s “Get into her five times a day” joke in Private Plane. July 27, 2018 at 1:32 pm in reply to: Things about Red Dwarf that make you irrationally angry #235087 Taiwan TonyParticipant Back to Reality coming top of everything and Johnny Vegas. (Though I feel this is rational.) July 24, 2018 at 6:21 pm in reply to: UKTV: Dave and Gold among channels dropped by Virgin Media #234959 Taiwan TonyParticipant What were you writing an essay about that you needed to reference 666 the number of the beast? July 23, 2018 at 8:40 pm in reply to: What if ITV had produced Red Dwarf instead of the BBC? #234897 Taiwan TonyParticipant I thought Hardware had two series. Is It Legal by the same writer was class. The New Statesman was mostly good. Author Replies Viewing 50 replies - 51 through 100 (of 373 total) 1 2 3 … 6 7 8
