It’d definitely be cartooney, since it’s a comedy game. Though hopefully better looking than the mobisodes!

I think an episodic adventure game is probably the best format as well. Since the Dwarfers aren’t particularly athletic or good at handling weapons, the standard “walk around talking and pick stuff up” format fits fine. Probably playing as Lister and occasionally Rimmer as well. Hell, even Kryten, Kochanski and Cat!

It’d have to have the original cast as well, but there are a lot of lines to record in an adventure game, so if not all of them are willing, Chris Barrie doing impressions of the others would be fine too. That way we could have Norman’s Holly back!

    This.

    > I?m reigning back my excitement for the new ?episodes? as I have no experience with TellTale Games, but I?ll be interested to see how the redone SMI turns out.

They’re absolutely brilliant. You can download an entire episode of Sam and Max for free on their website, trust me, you won’t be disappointed. ;)

    > A straight remake to take advantage of newer technology isn?t always a bad thing. Look at all those classic Sierra adventures that were later updated to crisp VGA graphics. Or?SMI actually. Hmm.

This also. The Lost Vikings II remake was just a graphical upgrade, which looked gorgeous and had stellar voice acting. Compare that to Tomb Raider: Anniversary, which is a full “re-imagining”… *shudder*

…I think I’ll wake up now.

I’ve been a massive fan of Telltale since they started, and they just keep shocking me with all these announcements, getting awesomer and awesomer with each one. Sam and Max, Strong Bad, Wallace and Gromit and now this. If they do Day of the Tentacle and Red Dwarf I think I’d just melt.

So they found Kochanski in the end then, I never would’ve guessed she was hiding out within the cast of Horne and Corden – after all, it’s the one place nobody was looking.

I’m not sure about her being played by Kerry Katona, mind. But Tony Slattery makes a brilliant Rimmer!

I’ve just gone back and rewatched Series IX and X, they really were the best by miles, weren’t they?

(Now that BtE has given us two fake series, I felt this topic needed a revival)

I wouldn’t mind this so much if it weren’t for the fact that SFX actually WAS in Back to Earth. This reminds me of when I released part one of my group project fangame online and one of the project members gave it a rather scathing review…

Loving it so far, and I have a request – could you move the “Killing Katerina” scene to before the bus journey, rather than after it? It just seems a bit odd that she’s somehow travelled that distance from the dimension hole and even gotten there before the others.

I suppose at the end of the day it’s a hallucination, so it doesn’t have to make sense. But it would be a nice edit. :)

Isn’t there a scene where Hollister is talking to Egghead Holly and they establish that he’s only imprisoning them to stop them taking over the ship/telling the crew what’s happened/finding the nanobots and getting rid of the crew?

Well, my college deadline was earlier than I thought and it’s become impossible for me to make an 8-minute cartoon in time. :/ So this project has been postponed – I might make it later on, but I’ve got other projects to focus on at the moment.

My college project has been reduced to pretty much a homemade mobisode. Which is fine, as I could pretty much just make a two-frame animation of a stick figure wanking and they’d be impressed.

Also, she’s really good at being Rimmer in Balance of Power.

Sorry to bring back an old topic, but I’ve just remembered something that could easily explain this problem – Rimmer’s diseased mind affected Better Than Life, perhaps it did the same here to cancel out the elation?

    Okay, here’s a production update:

So far the character designs for Holly and Kryten are finished, with Rimmer currently in production. I’ve written the script, but I’m not very happy with it at the moment. Anyone care to read it and possibly do some editing?

    >Oh, and YOU go to Art College? How did YOU get into Art College?

The normal way. The same way everyone gets into art college. Failed me exams and applied! They snapped me up!

Joking aside, it really is exactly as Red Dwarf stereotyped it – I’m always moaning about going to lectures first thing in the afternoon.

I’m disappointed by the lack of “Howdy Doodly Doo!” …maybe it’s supposed to be the Series I Talkie Toaster, who was a deeper and more philosophical character than the Series IV one.

This. Though I’d rather it waited until later, possibly after the next series or whatever. And if the words “laugh track” come out of John’s mouth one more time I’m gonna axe somebod-ay.

I concur. I actually really like Beyond a Joke, I think it’s one of the best of VII, because it’s so silly and it makes me laugh. Also – no Kryten whining in Beyond a Joke. And I honestly think Blue is overrated, because even though the Rimmer Song and that kiss are brilliant, the rest of the episode feels like filler. The re-establishing the linkway scene and the salad cream/nan’s bra/pants drawer discussions add nothing to the plot and could fit into VII anywhere.

Call me insane, but I’ve been watching a lot of Scrubs recently and I think Sarah Chalke would make a great Holly. If Red Dwarf ever got remade for USA again (Heaven forbid) she’d make a great stand-in for Hattie any day.

in reply to: Which Holly? #97902

If Hattie were to return, they should shoot the front and the back of her head at the same time, then layer the front of her head onto the back – that way you’d see her hair hanging down behind her head, and she’d actually look like a floating head – with two strands on either side it looks a little bit dodgy.

    Hey there, resident lurker here.

I noticed this one in Emohawk: Polymorph II (Chelsea Nil) the other day – after Cat says his classic line “This came from a bow, alright!” he quietly adds “I was expecting to get more than that…” which is totally unnecessary…it seems a bit like the “Ion storm” line from White Hole in that it’s as if it were just forced in to make the character seem less stupid. And I never noticed it before now…

Probably one of those cases where it’s the fourth take or so, so they don’t laugh as much as if they hadn’t seen it before. Like the “It’s an old old story…” routine in Camille – there were at least three smeg ups for that one and the laughter was much stronger the first time. Then there’s the “So what is it?” scene – that was actually performed over and over again and the audience laughed, but we’re just seeing the same clips of the characters talking over and over again. In that case, it’s more effective in my opinion, because it’s a surprise when you realise they’re repeating themselves.
