Have to weigh in on this one – Game On was a truly excellent programme. Puerile and silly in places, but it wasnt meant to be high drama. That might also be a defence often used for things being utter shit (like Hardware) but in this case, as a reaction to all the PC bullshit of the 80’s Game On must’ve been a breath of fresh air, and I think it still stands the test of time.

The three (four) leads acted their roles well and their delivery of certain lines was just sublime.

In regards to the skin tone issue, something is tugging at the back of my mind from my academic days – I dont know how to phrase this as succinctly as I maybe should, but theres something about whether someone has black skin/features or white skin/features being a smaller difference on a genetic level than height, build, ear shape, mouth size, loads of other little minutae. Which, if you look at previous regenerations, never seemed to be a concern.

It seems to me (and it did last year) that the drum sound *is* a heartbeat. If you think about it, in order to get a timelord heartbeat, overlap two slightly quick human heartbeats, and you get the same rhythm thats been used all along as the drums. “A-B A-B”, A being the first heart and B being the second one. No idea what it means, mind. Wheres tonguetied to help us all make sense of this?

I got this for my girlfriend the other day, and it told her she was 32, and me that I was 38. Im not even 22 yet! My girlfriends in great shape but she doesnt do much exercising so I can kind of understand that… but I dont see how when my centre of gravity was only slightly off, and Im smack bang in the middle of ideal BMI it said I was that old. Granted, I dont really exercise apart from doing lots of walking, but it cant see my beer belly, so how did the cocky little bugger come to that conclusion?

After about an hours messing around with the jogging, some yoga, hula hooping, jacknife sit-ups, it told me that Id lost a pound, and I now had an age of 30. Eh?

I was watching some random stuff on my massive (and soon to be discovered, wobbly) telly when I felt the first big rumble, like a big bang, and thought “Ah this is a bit like what happened in 2002, I bet therell be an earthquake in a second”, and sure enough, the house trembled all over the shop. When he ejector-seats from the plane he shouts “aw heeeeell no!” or something instead! And says “Yippeekay-yay Mr Falcon” at the end. Madness.

Thank God for the ludicrously named “Ultimate Action Edition” of Die Hard 4.0- all motherfuckers present and correct. When I saw it at the cinema I remember *noticing* the edits to remove the language, in one scene just after the gas lines blow up Justin Long is in the back of shot and you can see his mouth saying an entirely different sentence, probably due to Willis’ swearing over the original dialogue or something. There are still some dodgy edits but thank fuck Fox saw sense! And at least, thanks to the AVP Requiem red band trailer, we know theres at least one “fuck” in that!

I think it looks ok, if a bit condensed as Andrew points out! It looks pretty rough though, the music is most likely a temp track, used before the final edit, as its all ripped straight from the old Predator films, and the bit where the father and son find the ship is from Alien Resurrection. Maybe its been souped up at least a little so that it makes a nice preview friendly length? Still visually it looks pretty cool, and the predator homeworld- if thats what it was- looked quite interesting. Cheers for pointing us that way Andrew!

Havent seen that in years, I remember it as being mostly terrifying- coked up Carrie Fisher trying to throttle thin air, oh dear. I always thought that she’d just wandered into the set and the plot of the film matched whatever trip she was on!

Apparently you used to be able to sit in it, but these days its behind a bit of rope….. and on a big tilted plinth. It did have a flux capacitor yeah, even with some of that letter tape on it with “SHIELD EYES FROM LIGHT” stamped onto it- awesome. I didnt even know it was there, its in a crappy cornish goldmine museum in Redruth, its just referred to as the “time machine” with no back to the future references at all. As soon as you walk in, there it is behind the watch counter. I think its only one of four that ever existed, one of which was totalled at the end of BTTF3.

Never mind I figured it out eventually- the sheer coolness of back to the future was proven to me by the sensation I got when I saw the actual DeLorean in Cornwall- this was the model used for all of the “hero” shots of the cockpit, with the detailing and working controls.

Just *starting* with the car its an awesome series of films, made better and better by a fantastic score, excellent cinematography, and split screens/wipes that still look great today. I so wanted to get in and get up to 88…..
